UFC 329 live blog: King Green vs. Terrance McKinney

This is the UFC 329 live blog for King Green vs. Terrance McKinney, the main card lightweight bout Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Green (35-17, 1 NC) is one of the most experienced fighters on the UFC roster, sporting a record of 16-12-1 (1 NC) inside the octagon. He finds himself on an unlikely win streak, having recently knocked off Jeremy Stephens, Daniel Zellhuber, and Lance Gisbon Jr. With a win Saturday, Green will have strung together more than three victories for the first time since 2012.

While this matchup is unpredictable, one thing is almost guaranteed: McKinney (18-8) will make sure this fight doesn't go the scorecards. In 26 pro bouts, including 13 UFC appearances, McKinney has never had a fight end without someone getting knocked out or submitted. McKinney is the winner more often than not, and always in spectacular fashion as all eight of his UFC wins have come in the first round. On the flip-side, McKinney's past two losses have also come inside of a round, so there's no telling if he will be the hammer or the nail against Green.

Check out the UFC 329 live blog for King Green vs. Terrance McKinney below.

Round 1: Green enters the cage and yells at McKinney and then proceeds to talk to Daniel Cormier and Joe Rogan before the fight starts. Real bad blood between him and McKinney ahead of this lightweight showdown.

No glove touch for Green and McKinney. McKinney starts with all and already tags Green's face with three punches but he manages to get him down. Back to their feet, and again McKinney on the offense. McKinney's too fast for Green early, and Green has blood all over his face a minute into the fight. Damn. McKinney with a nasty left hook to the body as Green is backed against the fence. And McKinney continue to land! Again to the body! And a knee! McKinney with great timing for a double leg takedown, and he has Green in trouble reaching full mount almost immediately. McKinney connects left hands one after the other and Green is in deep trouble. McKinney goes for a rear-naked choke but immediately changes his mind and goes back to ground and pound. A few punches later and McKinney again attacks the next, but Green is defending well now. Green talking to McKinney as he lands punches on the younger fighter who has his back. McKinney attacks the neck but Green manages to escape and get back to his feet! Green hurts McKinney with a right hand to the body and HE GETS THE KNOCKOUT WITH A SECOND LEFT! WOW!

Official result: King Green def. Terrance McKinney via first-round TKO (4:59)

UFC 329 video: Robert Whittaker potentially breaks Nikita Krylov’s jaw in light heavyweight debut

Robert Whittaker made a successful light heavyweight debut and he might go home with Nikita Krylov's jaw as a reward after his knockout win at UFC 329.

Despite giving up a lot of size, Whittaker's speed was undeniable and his power translated as he hurt Krylov several times during the fight. The end came after Whittaker clipped Krylov wih a stiff right hand and then followed with another huge shot behind it.

Krylov immediately grabbed at his jaw like something was broken and waved off the fight as the referee stepped in to stop if at 1:01 in the third round.

“Feast your eyes on that Reddit!†Whittaker joked after his win. “Honestly, there was a lot of nerves and we've seen guys move up and slide down … but we've still got it. I trained for the entire camp with the idea that my opponent is going to be the boogeyman.

“I came in nice and heavy and I hit as hard as anybody else. This is my home now. The middleweight page is closed.â€

While Krylov looked massive, Whittaker showed off his speed immediately with several lightning quick punches that found a home in the opening round. That led to Krylov closing the distance and looking for the takedown while working against the cage.

Krylov was effectively muscling Whittaker across the octagon while applying his grappling but the former middleweight champion finally escaped and connected with a punch on his way out. Whittaker followed that with a slick right hand that clipped Krylov before connecting with another hard right hook.

On the restart in the second round, Whittaker came out quick and continued to use fast hands to catch Krylov off guard. A combination followed as Whittaker snapped off several shots in a row that stung Krylov, although the Russian absorbed the damage well.

With two minutes remaining, Whittaker unleashed another blistering combination that hurt Krylov, although he didn't go wild looking for the finish.

Whittaker snapped off another hard right hand that rattled Krylov and the writing was on the wall that the fight was nearly finished. Another devastating right followed and Krylov backed away as he grabbed onto his jaw with the referee stepping in to stop the fight before any further damage was dished out.

Light heavyweight is far from the deepest division in the sport and Whittaker might already be one of the more dangerous fighters at 205 pounds, especially after such an impressive debut on Saturday at UFC 329.

Gable Steveson is causing heavyweights to count their days with UFC debut, per Bryan Battle pre-UFC 329

Gable Steveson is making a widely discussed UFC debut on this year's International Fight Week card and a fellow victorious fighter from DBX 4 has given his thoughts on the heavyweight coming over the octagon.

Steveson battles Elisha Ellison at UFC 329: McGregor vs. Holloway 2 on July 11th with the former looking to build on his unbeaten MMA record. The MMA run of the Olympic gold medalist wrestler has been getting a lot of attention with Steveson also having recent wins with Real American Freestyle as well as with the aforementioned Dirty Boxing Championship.

Byan Battle shared a DBX card with Steveson and Battle prepares to take on Dalton Rosta in the main event of PFL Charlotte on August 7th. When touching upon their shared anecdotal history while asking for his thoughts on Steveson making his debut with the Ultimate Fighting Championship on Saturday, Battle said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],

“I think it's going to be quick. I think don't blink. You know what I'm saying? That's what I think. I mean, he is, dude, I mean, just the the accolades and credentials he has coming into the game. The fact that he gets to sit underneath Jon Jones. I mean, bro, like that is, if you're a heavyweight, you've got to be counting your days with that motherf***er coming up.â€

Gable Steveson won't get pushed for a while in the UFC, per Battle

Offering advice to divisional peers now that Gable Steveson is officially part of the UFC's heavyweight roster, Battle continued [via Bowks Talking Bouts],

“So, unless someone; it's one of those things where if you're in the heavyweight division, you got to get him now. You know what I'm saying? Like almost if you're the champion, you're like, “Yo, let's go ahead and book that fight. So I can beat him now before he gets too much experience then then you just can't f**k with him period.†So yeah, I would say that would just be my thoughts on that. Gable's fighting like don't blink, you know? Not yet. He's got a couple more tiers to go before he's really being pushed.â€
