Beaudoin led a master class to win the WBA – World Boxing Association interim world title
Leila Beaudoin rose to the top of the super featherweight division with a stunning boxing display on Saturday night. The Canadian star won the interim World Boxing Association (WBA) super featherweight championship, defeating Colombian Paulina Angel by dominant unanimous decision in Quebec, Canada, where she dictated the pace and rhythm of the fight from the opening bell.
Beaudoin’s power in the ring was absolute, leaving no room for debate on the scorecards. All three judges had identical scores of 100-90, 100-90 and 100-90, reflecting the one-sided nature of the contest. From the first round, the Canadian made full exploit of her reach advantage and excellent footwork, turning the fight into a display of technical boxing while preventing her opponent from finding comfortable range.
The fight highlighted a stark contrast in styles, with Beaudoin’s ring IQ completely neutralizing Angel’s aggression. The Colombian challenger pushed forward boldly throughout the contest, trying to force a close exchange of punches, but was repeatedly met with keen, correct jabs and deft lateral movements that kept her off-balance. Beaudoin controlled the action with precision and timing, counterattacking effectively throughout all ten rounds.
With an emphatic victory, Leila Beaudoin captures the WBA interim 130-pound crown and firmly establishes herself among the elite names in women’s boxing as she continues her rise in 2026.

Bermúdez defended his WBA title for the first time against Alegría – World Boxing Association
Argentine champion Evelin “La Princesita” Bermúdez will make the first defense of her WBA airy heavyweight championship this Saturday at Caribe Royale in Orlando, where she will face unsafe Mexican challenger Estefany Alegría in a fight fueled by the long-running boxing rivalry between Argentina and Mexico.
Bermúdez enters the fight with extensive championship experience and a skill set that has made her one of the standout fighters in the division. The Argentine titleholder has excellent hand speed, a pointed left jab and the footwork necessary to impose distance and pace during fights.
“La Princesita” understands that the key to retaining the black and gold belt will be to maintain composure, side-boxing and precise counter-attacks as Alegría tries to reduce the advantage.
Meanwhile, Alegría arrives with great ambition and the warrior mentality that has long defined Mexican boxing. She is a physically sturdy and strong player, copes well with constant pressure and rarely gives her opponents a moment to breathe.
From the first round, the challenger is expected to aggressively press forward, cut across the ring and force Bermúdez into exchanges at close range. Alegría’s strategy will likely focus on attacking the body early in the match to limit the champion’s mobility as the fight approaches the second half.
The key to the fight will be who manages to set the pace.
If Bermúdez can control the action from long range, control the clock and consistently make his opponent miss, he will put himself in a sturdy position to keep the title on the scorecards. However, if Alegría can break through the Argentine’s defense and land stronger shots inside, the possibility of a fresh champion emerging at 108 pounds becomes a very real possibility.

Beaudoin and Angel ready to fight for the interim WBA – World Boxing Association world title
Canadian standout Leila Beaudoin and Colombian challenger Paulina Angel will fight in Quebec, Canada for the interim WBA super featherweight world title. The duel promises an intriguing clash of styles and a lot of emotions from the first bell.
Beaudoin is entering the biggest opportunity of his professional career in excellent form. The Canadian boxer is known for her acute technique, long reach and bright outside boxing that often frustrates her opponents. A victory would place her among the sport’s elite, and her strategy will focus on maintaining tactical discipline, controlling the pace with consistent pushes and scoring points with quick combinations to get rounds on the scorecards.
Meanwhile, Angel brings the hunger and aggression that have long characterized boxing in South America. The Colombian is a physically forceful fighter who excels in short-distance exchanges and has enough punching power to change the course of the fight at any time. Her plan is expected to be basic from the opening bell: apply relentless pressure, cut off the ring and attack the body with weighty hooks to limit Beaudoin’s mobility.
The key to the fight will be who manages to impose distance. If Beaudoin can utilize her speed and keep the action at bay while circling the ring, she should be able to take control of the fight. However, if Angel manages to break through the Canadian defense, force the action from the inside and quickly take forceful shots, her chances of regaining the belt to Colombia will escalate dramatically.
