David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde – results and post-fight report
Published
5 months agoon
David Benavidez thwarted Anthony Yarde’s dreams of winning the world title in his third attempt, stopping the Briton in the seventh round in Riyad.
Yarde was twice denied glory against Sergey Kovalev and Artur Beterbiev respectively, and Benavidez ensured he would not be joyful the third time around, eliminating him in the seventh game before the referee intervened after responding to a series of punches.
Benavidez (31-0, 25 KO) pressed from the opening bell, but Yarde (27-4, 24 KO) counterattacked well in the early exchanges.
The “Mexican Monster” took a southpaw stance in the third round and upped the ante, landing a left uppercut and connecting with a left hook.
Yarde remained competitive but struggled to contain the 28-year-old’s relentless pressure.
The Londoner felt the bullets passing him and quickly started round six, detonating a brutal right hand that forced Benavidez to retreat.
The 34-year-old released the hands of an Arizona man pinned to the ropes.
However, the onslaught was short-lived, with Benavidez finishing the round robust and Yarde tiring as he slumped back to the corner at the end of the round.

Benavidez once again pinned the challenger to the ropes, and Yarde fell to the canvas after a series of combinations in the seventh set.
Yarde got up from the canvas and the champion was deducted a point for punching Yarde while he was on the ground, but he was relentless and after pouncing on the “Beast from the East” again, Benavidez stunned him with a devastating left hook.
After another left hook landed, referee Hector Afu stepped in and Benavidez defended his “regular” WBC and WBA delicate heavyweight world titles.
Despite the lure of an undisputed 175-pound title shot against Dmitry Bivol, Benavidez, who secured his first distance win at delicate heavyweight, announced he would move up to cruiserweight to face unified champion Zurdo Ramirez on May 2 in Las Vegas.
Haney outclasses Norman and becomes the welterweight champion
Devin Haney challenged Brian Norman Jr to become the WBO welterweight champion.
Haney (33-0, 15 KO), following a points victory over Jose Ramirez in May, dominated proceedings and stunned Norman (28-1, 22 KO) in the second round, defeating the Atlanta fighter with a straight right.

Norman who spectacularly he knocked out Jin Sasaki in the fifth round in Japan in June, he had difficulty pinning “The Dream”, and despite a surge towards the end, Haney showed far too much variety and precision, resulting in an outright winner on the scorecards.
One of the judges somehow scored it way too close to 114-113, but two judges awarded Haney the novel champion and the three-division title 117-110, 116-111.

Bam Rodriguez knocked out Martinez in the super flyweight division
Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez unified the super flyweight division by knocking out Fernando Martinez in the 10th round.
Rodriguez (23-0, 16 KO), who entered the fight as the WBC and WBO champion, clearly added the WBA belt to Martinez.

After dominating the competition with a masterful display of skill and accuracy, the 25-year-old added an exclamation point to his performance by smashing Martinez (18-1, 9 KO) with a robust left hand, who was unable to beat the referee’s count.
“Bam” could now claim undisputed glory against IBF champion Willibaldo García.
Mason defeats Noakes to become World Champion
Abdullah Mason won the vacant WBO lightweight title but was put to the test by Sam Noakes in the fight of the year.
Mason (20-0, 17 KO) dominated the initial stages of the fight, and in the third round the Briton’s legs were wobbly.
Noakes (17-1, 15 KO) survived a fierce round, but after clashing heads he suffered a cut, which resulted in a immense wound above his left eye.

The Maidstone man didn’t let this discourage him and landed a series of brutal right hands in the fifth minute.
The 28-year-old forced the American to shoot him, but on January 10 he had to survive a storm during which Mason injured him with an attack on the head and body.
Noakes recovered in the 11th minute and both fighters exchanged vigorously with the fight going on the scorecards.
One judge scored the fight 117-111, while two others scored it 115-113 and crowned Mason the youngest busy world champion at the age of 21.
Undercard remaining
In another development, Vito Mielnicki (22-1, 12 KO) won the vacant WBO Global middleweight title with a ninth-round knockout of Samuel Nmomah (21-1, 5 KO).
Saudi Arabian prospects Mohammed Alakel (7-0, 1 KO) extended his undefeated record with a unanimous decision over super featherweight Jailing Li (7-6, 4 KO).
In the super middleweight division, Julio Porras Ruiz (13-0-1, 9 KO) and Pius Mpenda (11-4-2, 5 KO) drew, while Saudi lightweight Sultan Almohammed (2-0, 1 KO) secured his second professional victory by defeating Umesh Chavan (3-2-1) in the first round.
Juan Perez (1-0) scored four rounds in his debut against super flyweight Barker Ssewanyana (1-2-1).

Jarred Anderson and Solomon Dacres’ fight was canceled due to injuries
Published

April 26, 2026
Jarred Anderson’s return to the ring against Solomon Dacres was canceled just days later.
Dacres and Anderson were scheduled to face on May 9 in Fabio Wardley’s first world title defense against Daniel Dubois.
It looks like “Massive Baby” will continue to gain momentum after suffering his first career loss in 2024.
After a great start to his professional career and 17 impressive victories, Anderson took a gigantic risk in his fight against Martin Bakole in Los Angeles.
This acceleration did not go as planned, as Bakole stopped the American in the fifth round.
The American was forced to withdraw from competition for several weeks after suffering an injury during camp.
Anderson reportedly suffered a torn biceps, and the news was first broken by reporter Chris Mannix during the broadcast of Jarrell Miller’s win over Lenier Pero in Las Vegas.

Anderson, 26, recently signed a promotional deal with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, strengthening his existing relationship with Top Rank that he has been pursuing since his professional debut in 2019.
He last fought in a 10-round victory over Marios Kollias in February 2025, more than 14 months ago.
For now, no further information has been provided regarding a possible postponement of the fight.

For Dacres, it would be his first fight since his impressive decision victory over Vladyslav Sirenko.
Both Dacres and Anderson have only one loss to their name, and the fight between them will prove to be a great indicator of where each is at in their careers.
Dacres’ only loss came in the first round to David Adeleye in 2024, and he has only had one fight since that defeat.

Although the Anderson-Dacres fight has been canceled, the Manchester event will still go ahead as planned, with Fabio Wardley defending his WBO heavyweight title for the first time after winning the title with a stoppage victory over Joseph Parker.
Wardley remains undefeated and his opponent is Daniel Dubois, who has a 95% knockout rate.
Dubois is heading straight for another shot at the world title after being stopped by Oleksandr Usyk last July.

Wardley vs. Dubois it should be an epic fight, and the pair showed off their incredible knockout ability throughout their careers. The Ipswich fighter has wins over Justis Huni, Frazer Clarke and Joseph Parker, while Daniel Dubois has stopped Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua, so a stoppage seems the most likely outcome for the main event.

Dillian Whyte interested in rematch with Joseph Parker

Dillian Whyte is eager to fight Joseph Parker again.
In 2018, Whyte and Parker played 12 invigorating rounds, with both hitting the canvas.
Whyte won his dramatic heavyweight fight by unanimous decision at the O2 Arena.
‘The Body Snatcher’ is now planning a rematch with the Recent Zealander, who is looking to clear his name after testing positive for cocaine following his October defeat to Fabio Wardley.
“There are a lot of good fights and Joseph Parker is one of them,” the 38-year-old said Ring Magazine.
“I would love to fight Joseph Parker, I think it’s a really good fight.
“He has to come back, he has to be cleared or whatever. I don’t know the situation.
“So in the meantime I have to stay busy and fight my way back, so let’s see.
“I feel like I still have a little bit to give, so let’s see what we can do to finish the season on a high.
“I’m training now and I want to come back in May or June.
“Now it’s just a matter of training and seeing what comes out on this kind of date.”

The former world title challenger from Brixton has not fought since a crushing first-round knockout defeat to rising contender Moses Itauma last August in Riyad.
Former world champion Parker won six times on spin before being stopped in the 11th round against Wardley, losing the WBO interim title and a shot at unified champion Oleksandr Usyk.
The 34-year-old says he is going through this process after failing the test and hopes it will be resolved soon.

“Let’s hope so [I’m back] soon,” Parker said Professional boxing fans.
“I’m just going through the process and practicing patience.
“We just have to be patient and learn from what they say happened.
“I know what happened and I handed over everything, so let’s see.”

“I was nervous” – Tony Yoka reacts to Lawrence Okolie’s failed test

April 23, 2026
Tony Yoka has broken his silence on Lawrence Okolie’s failed test that canceled their scheduled heavyweight fight.
On Saturday in Paris, Yoka was scheduled to face Okolie in a fierce heavyweight fight.
But on Tuesday, the Briton failed a VADA test, reportedly for GHRP 2 and its metabolite M8, a synthetic substance that stimulates the body to release human growth hormone.
Promoter Frank Warren tried to find a slow replacement, but later canceled the entire show.
Yoka (33) admits that he was bitterly disappointed with the situation.
“I was disappointed because I wanted to fight,” said the 33-year-old talkSPORT.
“Of course I was ready.
“It’s not like it happened a few months before, it was three, four days before the fight.

“It was a great opportunity.
“It would have put me in a really good position, so it really worried me.
“What was more disappointing to me was that they just canceled the entire show, but I understand it’s a business.”
The Frenchman says he won’t wait too long and has been told he will either fight on the card Fabio Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois May 9 in Manchester or on the bill Dave Allen vs Filip Hrgovic on May 16 in Doncaster.
Okolie, the WBC’s number one contender for Oleksandr Usyk’s title, promised in a statement to clear his name.
“Before anyone starts imagining the worst, after last year’s bicep injury, I suffered an elbow injury on the same shoulder during this camp.
“I underwent treatment and now we are here.
“I hope common sense will prevail.
“I will of course cooperate fully with all relevant authorities and I am confident that any investigation will clear my name.
“I will not be making any further comments at this time.
“Thank you for all your support and see you soon.”
