The World Boxing Organization has sent an official notification to former champion Jaime Mungui for the alleged violation of doping.
The heads of the WBO revealed a letter addressed to Mungui of June 26, giving Mexico ten days to respond to accusations.
Reports claim that Munguia obtained a positive synthetic testosterone result, an allegation that his team refused in an official statement sent to World Boxing News.
The information sent to WBN was: “First of all, it is significant to repeat: Jaime Mungía has never tested positive in over 100 anti -doping tests in his professional career.
“His album speaks for itself. He always warned VADA testing protocols and gained a reputation of a pure and respectful warrior who honors the integrity of this sport.
“We ask the boxing community to remember this context before accelerating to judgment.
“The test in question was one of the many tests conducted during the training camp-all others returned to the pristine. A positive sample result and was unexpected and deep for us.”
A few days later, the Munguia team responded to the opening of the B sample and found pollution during testing.
They added: “We want to repeat that this result does not change our position: Jaime consciously or intentionally consumed any forbidden substance.
“We are steadfastly convinced that this result was caused by pollution and we are still taking every possible step to identify the source.”
Despite the public nature of Mungui, the president of WBO Gustavo Olivieri wants more explanations.
“The WBO World Championship Committee issued Jaime Munguia a formal notification about the alleged anti -doping violation after his last fight against Bruno Surace.
“The case concerns an administrative review in accordance with WBO regulations,” said WBO.
The official letter contained the following:
“World Boxing Organization Organization (WBO) The World Championship Committee issues this formal program, the reason for notification in accordance with the sections 19 and 28 WBO regulations regarding the world championship competitions, in relation to the alleged exploit of the forbidden substance of increased efficiency in connection with the latest attack against Bruno.
“The exploit of illegal drugs, drugs increasing efficiency or stimulants before or during a championship competition by any of the participants will sufficiently cause the disqualification of the guilty participant.
“According to Section 19 (C) and Section 28 para.
“The lack of response at this time is the waiver of all rights that have been granted in this document, and the WBO World Championship Committee exerts all judgments, which it deems competent in accordance with the principles and provisions of WBO.”
Mungui’s victory over Surace will become the best, unless there is a sufficient explanation.
WBN will continue to follow this story and update. WBN contacted the President of WBO for more.
