UFC Hall of Famer predicts Ian Machado Garry will 's--- his pants' dealing with Islam Makhachev at UFC 330

UFC Hall of Famer Chris Weidman believes Ian Machado Garry will get a brutal reality check against Islam Makhachev at UFC 330.

UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev will look to retain his belt and his spot atop the pound-for-pound rankings against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330. Makhachev returns to the Octagon for the first time since winning the welterweight title at UFC 322 last year against Jack Della Maddalena.

Makhachev is expected to utilize a wrestling-heavy approach against Garry's stand-up when they meet in the Octagon. But Garry also has dangerous Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he's polishing up with Charles Oliveira ahead of UFC 330.

Garry has repeatedly touted Makhachev as the toughest test in the UFC. According to a former UFC champion, Garry is set up for a big fall against the UFC's pound-for-pound king.

Chris Weidman: Islam Makhachev's wrestling will ‘frustrate' Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330

In a recent episode of the Deep Waters podcast, UFC Hall of Famer Chris Weidman didn't express optimism in discussing Garry's chances against Makhachev.

“This is going to be a really stressful fight for Ian Garry,†Weidman said of Garry.

“I don't think he's going to be as comfortable because he's going to be s—— his pants about the takedown because he sees how good Islam is on the ground, and Islam is going to throw hard on the feet, too…

“I think the best chance he has is to run and frustrate Islam into bad shots, bad takedown offense, also bad strikes on the feet because he's overreaching, because Islam is used to dominating,†Weidman continued on Garry. “He wants to just go in there, take him down and submit him or beat him up on the feet. If this fight is slow and boring, I think Islam will make some mistake.†(h/t MMA Junkie)

White was left bemused by Max Kellerman's explanation of his
role in the Tyson
Fury-Anthony
Joshua saga.

Fury and Joshua are scheduled to meet Dec. 11 at Principality
Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, with the bout set to stream on Netflix.
The matchup was announced by the streaming juggernaut as a
collaboration between Turki Alalshikh and White's Zuffa Boxing.
However, Joshua's camp and Eddie Hearn seemingly aren't on
board.

Dana White disputes Max Kellerman's description of his role in
Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua

Kellerman claimed during the Zuffa Boxing 11 broadcast that White's
involvement isn't as a promoter but rather in an assisting role to
Alalshikh.

“Dana White's involvement in the fight, so people know, is purely
in assisting Turki Alalshikh, who has been the engine behind just
about every big fight in boxing over the last handful of years,â€
Kellerman said. “He's assisting Turki in a personal capacity, not
as a promoter.â€

White was subsequently asked about Kellerman's comments, and the

Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO revealed that he had no idea
what the analyst-commentator was talking about.

“I don't know where that came from,†White said. “That was weird.
We're promoting the fight right now. I've said 150,000 times I
don't know if I've ever known anybody who's more full of f*cking
shit than Eddie Hearn.â€

Hearn has previously emphasized that White should not be involved
in the fight, while Netflix's announcement identified the UFC boss
as a key part of the event. A press conference for Fury-Joshua is
expected to take place Wednesday, Sept. 30, although White wasn't
forthcoming about whether he plans to attend.

“I guess I'll leave that as a surprise,†White said.

Christian Lee defends ONE lightweight title against Tye Ruotolo at ONE The Inner Circle 37

The ONE lightweight title goes up for grabs at ONE The Inner Circle 37 when champion Christian Lee defends his belt against grappling sensation Tye Ruotolo.

The fight takes place on Nov. 6 at Lumpinee Stadium in Thailand with the full card still to be announced. ONE officials confirmed the matchup to MMA Fighting on Monday.

A longstanding member of the ONE roster, Lee has conquered multiple divisions during his career and now he'll look to add yet another title defense to his resume. Most recently, Lee scored a TKO win over Alibeg Rasulov to defend his lightweight title this past November.

As for Ruotolo, the 23-year-old fighter and his brother Kade conquered the grappling world before making the move into MMA. So far, Ruotolo sports a 2-0 record in MMA with both of his wins coming in ONE Championship.

Now, he'll take a decided step up in competition to face Lee for the lightweight title at ONE The Inner Circle 37.

Nassourdine
Imavov.

Rumors have been circulating about the next
Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight title fight, with
Strickland and Imavov potentially set to run it back. With the
UFC's annual December numbered event in Las Vegas still without a
headliner, Strickland claims that the finer details are being
ironed out before the bout can be confirmed.

Strickland says pay talks are the final hurdle before the
Imavov rematch is locked in

According to the two-time champion, the two sides are discussing
pay before the booking becomes official for UFC 335.
Strickland also took a dig at Imavov, suggesting that the Frenchman
isn't a major draw.

“We’re discussing pay now,†Strickland wrote on X. “Once that
detail is squared its locked in. The issue is no one cares about
the fake Frenchman. We’re almost there.â€

Strickland defeated Khamzat
Chimaev in a major upset to win the middleweight title for the
second time this past June. Imavov, whose most recent loss came
against Strickland in 2023, has since mounted a five-fight winning
streak against elite opposition, including victories over Caio
Borralho and Israel
Adesanya in UFC Fight Night headliners.
