Few fighters are more qualified to break down the UFC 329 main event between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway than Jose Aldo.

Tyron Woodley predicts Gable Steveson will destroy Tom Aspinall, calls out Topuria Then McGregorTyron Woodley: ‘Future champion’ Gable Stevenson ‘tortures’ Tom Aspinall

(Photo: Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)Former UFC champion Tyron Woodley doesn’t hold back.
In a wide-ranging interview, Woodley made a series of bold predictions about the future of the UFC – from rising stars to potential superfights – including a massive claim about Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson.
I’m talking to TalkSPORT BETT, Woodley said Steveson won’t just succeed in MMA – he’ll dominate.
“Destroys Tom Aspinall”
Woodley believes Steveson has immediate championship potential and could even dethrone heavyweight king Tom Aspinall.
Gable Stevenson will become UFC champion – he destroys Tom Aspinall
If true, it would mark one of the fastest rises to the top in UFC history.
Topuria compared to McGregor
Woodley also made a huge statement about Ilia Topuria, predicting that he could surpass world famed Conor McGregor.
Ilia Topuria will be a bigger star than Conor McGregor
He didn’t stop there – Woodley also expects Topuria to dominate unsafe opponents.
Topuria defeats Gaethje in two rounds – Gaethje was hit too many times
Robust opinions on the White House card
Woodley also addressed the “White House card” rumors and didn’t mince his words about Josh Hokit.
Josh Hokit will add “gallons of shame” to the White House card
He also suggested a favorable matchup for Michael Chandler:
Michael Chandler should have an effortless fight on the White House card – as should Bobby Green
Jake Paul, Ngannou and Diaz
Woodley delivered a surprising take on the crossover fights involving Jake Paul.
Jake Paul has a better chance of beating Ngannou than Anthony Joshua

Other key predictions
Woodley also touched on some major names from the sports world:
No one should tell Israel Adesanya when to retire
Sean Strickland won’t solve Khamzat Chimaev’s Rubik’s Cube
Why is this being paid attention to?
Woodley’s comments stand out because they challenge current narratives:
- Backing an unproven UFC newcomer to dominate the heavyweight division
- The prediction of the world’s novel superstar may surpass McGregor’s
- Taking a controversial stance on crossover fights
Whether fans agree or not, one thing is clear – these predictions are sparking debate throughout the MMA world.
Tyron Woodley: ‘Future champion’ Gable Stevenson ‘tortures’ Tom Aspinall, Josh Hokit will add ‘gallons of shame’ to White House card and Jake Paul has a better chance of beating Ngannou than Anthony Joshua
Gable Stevenson will become UFC champion – he destroys Tom Aspinall
Gabe Stevenson will become heavyweight champion. If he wants, he can do it this year. Tom Aspinall will now be tortured by Gable. Tom looked sloppy compared to Ciryl Gane before he was poked in the eye. Gable has powerful hands, all his fights are finished. He has crazy wrestling and crazy athletic ability. He’s hungry. Do you think he’s still ecstatic that he lost the NCAA Championship in the last 3 seconds? Hell no. I don’t see a heavyweight fight in the UFC right now that he doesn’t win.
Ilia Topuria will be a bigger star than Conor McGregor
I think Topuria will become bigger than Conor. He made a deal with Richard Mille. He collaborated with Cristiano Ronaldo. He shut down Spain and now he’s beating all our legends, our GOATs, our BMFs and our champions. He goes through everyone and tells us he will do it before he does it. Then he does it. He doesn’t say much, he doesn’t question much, he even hid his personal affairs. He’s tidy, wears a suit, trains tough, and is a no-nonsense, down-to-earth person who speaks excellent English and excellent Spanish. He is the biggest star.
Josh Hokit will add “gallons of shame” to the White House card
What does Josh Hokit add to the White House card? Hokit is seven gallons of cringe in a five-gallon jug. This is annoying. And you know he practiced it at home, thinking people would like it. They won’t love it. Nobody wants to hear things like that. But was it worth getting a spot on the White House card? Probably.
Hokit is getting on my nerves. The fight was good, but when a fighter like that wins, I say “oh no”, now he takes the microphone and starts saying corny lines.
Jake Paul has a better chance of beating Ngannou than Anthony Joshua
I know Jake Paul won’t hesitate to fight Ngannou. I think that’s why they invite Francis to appear on MMA on Netflix. Jake will be a better boxer than Francis, but power will be an issue. Jake Paul has a much better chance of beating Ngannou than Anthony Joshua. You have to be still for Francis to hurt you. But Francis has power. However, we don’t know how Jake will react to returning from injury.
Jake Paul defeats “snail-paced” Nate Diaz in an MMA fight
Jake vs. Nate in MMA? It’s a good fight, but it will be the same as a boxing fight. Nate looks too snail-paced and has no power. Jake will hit him with MMA gloves rather than boxing gloves, so the impact will be louder. I don’t really see Nate taking Jake down or beating him, so how will he even operate jiu-jitsu? Do I think Jake beats Nate in MMA? Unfortunately, yes.
Topuria defeats Gaethje in two rounds – Gaethje was hit too many times
Unfortunately, I say this is a second round fight. Gaethje is very tough, but he just got hit too tough, man, I’m being straightforward. His fighting style is to just come and fight. We forget that he is a Greek American wrestler. But when will he ever start using supplies? There were many fights where he should have used wrestling. There isn’t and it isn’t. Maybe, but he won’t.
Is there a chance for a hole puncher? Yes, because he is clever. It looks a little sloppy, but it’s one of the best. He and Yoel Romero are two of IQ’s most underrated fighters because without you knowing, they change their weight really quickly and transmit so much power so quickly. That’s why they’re always so unsafe.
No one should tell Israel Adesanya when to retire
I don’t even like Adesanya, but I really respect him when he said, “I’m devastated, but I lost and it happens.” One day you fucking asshole, the next day you wake up and you’re losing. No non-player, no one other than family or coaches should ever influence whether a player should retire or not. This conversation is not for people who don’t do this work.
Let him do whatever he wants. If you want to keep fighting, he’s still a great fighter, he just needs to realize that these kids have been watching him for five years, watching him, shadow boxing in front of the TV, while he fought someone else.
Michael Chandler should have an effortless fight on the White House card – as should Bobby Green
Chandler fights in the last minute, fights with injury, fights often. He’s exhilarating, he’s tired, he’ll give it his all. Even if he fails strategically. I don’t like Ruffy fighting over Chandler. I like the easier fight for Chandler. I think he deserved it. I don’t think he should be in all these fights where he has to keep proving what he has already proven. I think he should be rewarded for all his behavior; accepting last minute fights, battling injuries and fighting the likes of Paddy Pimblett where he built their brand. I feel like he should get Bobby Green or someone like that.
Sean Strickland won’t solve Khamzat Chimaev’s Rubik’s Cube
Strickland won’t know how to solve a Rubik’s Cube with Khamzat. He can’t.
I would try to make it a fight like Forrest Griffin had when he won the title. He just made a mess and just tried to wear him down. And I really think Khamzat will get tired.
She has to weather this storm, give him blows and blows that raise the volume, and then try to push him and get into his head a little, irritate him a little. I’m giving him a chance. You will never miss such a person. He won’t go there thinking he’ll lose. I promise you this.
Although he is a fool, look at how he fights with people. And he’s good at mental games.

8 men indicted on conspiracy charges in plot to attack UFC White House event, kill government officials

July 10, 2026
A total of eight men were officially charged by a Federal grand jury after plotting to attack the recent UFC White House card with plans to kill President Donald Trump and numerous other government officials.
A total of three more people have now been indicted in the same complaint including 21-year-old Chandler Scaggs from Chapmanville, W. V. after he was taken into custody after he was allegedly assigned to serve as one of the snipers in the attack.
The eight men charged in the thwarted attack include Abraham Alvarez from Nebraska, Daniel Eskridge from Missouri, William Falkner from Washington, Tycen Proper from Ohio, Jordan Rincker from Missouri, Brian Roa from California, Chandler Scaggs from West Virginia and Michael Thomas from California.
The indictment charges all eight men with two conspiracies: Conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists and conspiracy to commit murder on Federal government territory and to murder a Federal government official.
Conspiring to provide material support to terrorists is punishable by up to 15 years in prison and conspiracy to commit murder on Federal government territory and to murder a Federal government official is punishment by up to life in prison.
According to the indictment, the eight men allegedly participated in online chat groups and forums where they plotted the attack and recruited other members for the planned assault on the UFC White House card.
The accused men allegedly amassed weapons, ammunition and tactical gear and also allegedly engaged in marksmanship and combat training while agreeing on specific targets for the attack including plans to murder the President of the United States, the Vice President of the United States, the Prime Minister of Israel, Elon Musk and “other high value targets†attending the UFC White House event.
The new indictment handed down replaces previous charges filed against the alleged participants to attack the UFC White House event after the plot was thwarted by Federal authorities.

Jose Aldo gives his prediction for Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway 2, shuts down any hope for McGregor rematch
Published

July 10, 2026
The former UFC featherweight champion spent months in preparation to face both fighters in the past including two title bouts against Holloway. Now admittedly, Aldo only spent 13 seconds in the cage with McGregor after he got clipped with a devastating left hand that ended the fight in dramatic fashion in the first round.
But Aldo endured an entire training camp getting ready for McGregor and then also went nearly 30 minutes with Holloway between their initial fight and the eventual rematch.
“They both have tremendous qualities,†Aldo told Covers.com, “I didn't really get to fight Conor for very long. I had two opportunities to fight Max. The first one ended with a TKO in the fourth round. My fight with Conor ended in the first round, so it was over very quickly. I didn't really get to feel his full skill set, but he's obviously an extremely talented fighter.
“I can speak more confidently about Max's style. He's a very intelligent fighter with excellent boxing and a great understanding of boxing. He also has a tremendous ability to read shots and absorb them. Of course, nowadays, after taking so much damage throughout his career, he's not quite the same as he was back when I fought him. He was in his prime, you could hit him all day and he'd still be there.â€
Of course, Aldo has the same questions about McGregor heading into this fight as almost everybody else because the Irish superstar has been out of action for five years and he's just days away from turning 38 years old.
Coming back from so much time off casts doubts in what version of McGregor is going to show up to the cage on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
“Nobody really knows where he's at or what kind of performance he's going to deliver,†Aldo said about McGregor. “He could perform like a 10 out of 10, or like a five. We just don't know. He could get it done early, land some good shots and win the fight. Or maybe he can't find Max and starts thinking, ‘Damn, I'm in trouble,' and ends up fighting more cautiously. Nobody knows what his performance will look like.â€
That's why if forced to choose, Aldo favors Holloway to get the job done at UFC 329.
“To me, Max is the favorite,†Aldo said. “He's active and still building his career. I can't really judge Conor's level because I haven't seen him compete in a long time. I haven't seen him inside the octagon, and I haven't seen him training, so I don't know where he's at. I see Max fighting today, and he's been putting on great performances. Conor is a complete question mark, we'll find out on fight night.
“I'm not saying Max Holloway is a huge favorite. Not at all. But he has the edge because he's active, he's staying sharp, and I have no idea what Conor's performance will look like. That said, Conor could walk in there and knock him out. That can absolutely happen. And it wouldn't take anything away from Max if he got knocked out by Conor, because Conor has outstanding striking and excellent timing.â€
Following his final fight in the UFC back in 2025, Aldo announced his retirement from the sport and he's stuck to his guns thus far without competing again.
That said, Aldo rarely escapes any conversation related to McGregor without addressing a potential rematch after they fought once in 2015 but then never met again.
For his part, Aldo isn't gunning to reignite some kind of longstanding rivalry with McGregor now and if anything, he actually feels like he's on really good terms with his former opponent these days.
Add to that, Aldo admits he hasn't been back to the gym for training in quite some time so he knows the days chasing a second fight against McGregor are over.
“I haven't even stepped into a gym in over a year, so I don't know what it would be like to come back to MMA,†Aldo confessed. “It's not even something I think about. I think our paths ended when we fought all those years ago. If there wasn't an immediate rematch, then he went one way and I went another. I moved down a weight class after that and he put on a lot of weight, got much bigger, and added a lot of muscle mass.
“I'm completely different. If you look at me today, I still weigh around 72kg (158 pounds). So the size difference is huge. There are too many factors that make that fight unrealistic now.â€
