Fans can expect
Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion Tom
Aspinall back in the Octagon soon.

Aspinall has been out of action recovering from an eye injury he
suffered against Ciryl Gane
(14-2) at UFC
321 in October of last year. The bout ended in a no contest
after Gane simultaneously poked the Englishman in both eyes in the
first round. Aspinall is now gearing up for his return.

Tom Aspinall ready to fight again, but UFC relationship remains
a storyline

Aspinall (15-3) recently revealed that he is ready to fight again.
The Brit claims to have informed the promotion that he is ready to
return and is eyeing the UFC
Paris card in September.

“We’ve let the UFC know that we’re ready to go and we’re just
waiting for dates,†Aspinall said on his YouTube channel. “We’ve
just literally told them we can do it in Paris. We told them we can
do it wherever they want. So, we’re just waiting for them to let us
know. It’s down to the UFC.â€

Notably, Aspinall had a falling out with the UFC, unhappy with how
the aftermath played out and with some of Dana White's comments. He
then onboarded boxing promoter Eddie Hearn as an advisor, further
souring the relationship between himself and White.

Gane won the interim title for a second time at
UFC Freedom 250 by defeating Alex
Pereira, setting up a rematch with Aspinall. The UFC's next
event in Paris is slated for Sept. 5.

Is Cris Cyborg Retiring at PFL Tampa? BKB 58's Aspen Ladd wonders

Is Cris Cyborg Retiring at PFL Tampa? BKB 58's Aspen Ladd wonders

Cris Cyborg is being advertised for this weekend as taking part in her final MMA fight, but an ex-UFC and PFL vet has their doubts. The referenced fighter here is Aspen Ladd, who takes on Bianca Daimoni at BKB 58 on August 29th in Miami, Florida.

Cris Cyborg was slated to defend her PFL featherweight crown versus Ketlen Vieira until the latter came in seven pounds over the 145-pound contracted weight limit at PFL Tampa. As someone who has thrown down in featherweight fights for promotions like UFC and PFL, the BKB combatant weighed in on Cyborg vs. Vieira in the context of if the former will bow out of the sport on August 22nd, Ladd said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],

“Yeah, [Cris] Cyborg's an absolute legend of the sport, but she's been teasing for a long time that this would be her last MMA fight. Will it be? Who knows? But she's said that for quite a while and they had to find somebody to bring over for her to fight.â€

“She was the only one left, the only '45er in the entire promotion under contract, right? So, they had to find somebody. Ketlen's about as good an opponent as they can get. I think it's very possible it can go to a decision honestly, but I don't know. Cyborg's so explosive.â€

Cris Cyborg not likely to get Shields or Rousey bouts, per Ladd

Whether or not this is her last MMA bout, Cyborg has also expressed interest in continuing to build upon her boxing journey, and to that, Ladd stated [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],

“No, she keeps calling out [Claressa] Shields over and over because I know they've sparred before. I highly doubt it'll ever happen, but you never know. It's the same as like the Ronda [Rousey] fight. That's never going to happen, but who knows?â€

Gable Steveson wants UFC title ‘as fast as possible,’ but doesn’t want to rush

Gable Steveson wants UFC title ‘as fast as possible,’ but doesn’t want to rush

Gable Steveson isn't trying to rush things, but he does want the UFC heavyweight title ASAP.

Only 26 years old and an Olympic gold medalist in wrestling, Steveson is one of the most-hyped MMA prospects of all time. After trying his hand at football and professional wrestling, Steveson moved to MMA in 2025, immediately showcasing rare athleticism and talent that left many fans wondering when — not if — Steveson would move to the UFC and take the heavyweight title.

Steveson fulfilled the former earlier this year, making his promotional debut at UFC 329 with a first-round TKO over Elisha Ellison, and if he had his druthers, the latter would be sooner rather than later.

“I would like to say as fast as possible, but I would like to get my reps in, make sure the people know I earned my respect, and earned my time in the octagon,†Steveson told reporters at the RAF 12 press conference when asked how soon he wants to challenge for the heavyweight title. “And when that time comes, I'll most definitely be ready.â€

Speaking with MMA Fighting after the press conference, Steveson went into more detail about his plans for working his way to the title, and how his work with Jon Jones expedited his personal timeline.

“I think my progression has been great,†Steveson said. “I think with Jon and a lot of guys in my corner, the progression has been faster than we thought. And obviously, with my last fight I introduced my kicks; I introduced knees this time. My next fight I'll introduce something else and just keep building off that.

“I think however long it takes is what means most to me. Whether it's eight fights, whether it's five fights, whether it's four, whether it's six, it doesn't really matter. I come out there to compete. My goal right now is to earn the respect of the fans, earn the respect of the people, the higher-ups, earn the respect of myself to go out there and compete in these matchups that may seem a little off, but it's part of the game. You've got to build the respect with the team and build the respect within yourself, and honor the cage, and get your reps in.

“So, I'm getting my reps in now. When that time comes to jump — which will be very soon — I'll jump.â€

First thing first, though, Steveson already has his next UFC fight booked, taking on Sean Sharaf next month at UFC 331, and he's hoping to keep this high rate of activity up. He aims to return with a fight at Madison Square Garden before the end of the year.

“I'm happy about this,†Steveson said of the matchup. “I'm the one who chose to fight again early. I could have fought at MSG and waited through that time, but I wanted to be competitive and wrestle, and then fight again, and then fight again after that. With my opponent, Sean Sharaf, a big guy who's not really mobile, can't really top a takedown, who wants to go out there and brawl and eat a lot of punches — I expect him to come out there the best he possibly can, but I feel like there's no avenue for him to even compete.â€
