“Clown Dawg”

“Clowns damn you all say and do everything šŸ˜‚ We blocked LOADING CHAMPIONS 2 WEIGHT UNIFIED #ANDTHENEW on June 27,” Ennis wrote on Twitter X.

The undefeated former welterweight champion is increasing his weight after compiling a 35-0 record with 31 knockouts at 147 pounds. A victory over Zayas would make Ennis the unified second division champions.

Ennis didn’t mention specific people in his post, but much of the online discussion around him lately has centered around comparisons to Terence Crawford and the debate over whether the two should have fought earlier in their careers.

The discussion about Crawford continues

Fans who reacted to Ennis’ post were quick to turn the discussion back to the retired 38-year-old Crawford, with some urging Ennis to continue this fight after the Zayas fight.

Crawford previously dismissed comparisons between himself and Ennis, responding to the praise directed at the Philadelphia player.

Despite the outside chatter, Ennis has made it clear that his attention is on June 27 and the chance to immediately become the unified 154-pound titleholder.

ā€œLoading champions with unified weight 2,ā€ Ennis wrote.

The fight with Zayas will be Ennis’ biggest fight since leaving the welterweight division and moving up to bigger fights in the junior middleweight division.

The fight also has major implications for the future of the junior middleweight division, as Ennis immediately became one of the biggest names in the 154-pound division after his victory over Zayas.

A victory would likely boost pressure on future fights involving Crawford and other top fighters who already compete in the division or are planning moves there.

For now, Ennis says his attention is entirely on Zayas and the chance to leave Brooklyn with unified second-league stripes.

Fabio Wardley’s trainer speaks out after criticism for not throwing in towel against Dubois

Last night Fabio Wardley fought bravely into the eleventh round in Manchester before referee Howard Foster stepped in and ended his heavyweight title thriller against Daniel Dubois.

The main event attracted considerable interestas Wardley – who was bloody and swollen by the end – scored two early knockdowns but was eventually taken down by the determined and punishing Dubois.

After the fight, a huge number of viewers – analysts, fans and fighters alike – said the defending champion from Ipswich should have been pulled from the fight around the corner due to accumulated injuries, with many pointing to a moment early in the tenth round where he was particularly unsteady on his feet.

Responding to the criticism on Instagram, Wardley’s co-trainer Ben Davison was open in his analysis and said he “actually agrees” the fight could have been stopped earlier.

“Last night… first of all, congratulations to Dubois. Two great fighters in a current classic. We are very proud of Fabio.

“I actually agree that the fight could have been stopped earlier. I didn’t see Fabio stumble before he went to the doctor at the beginning of the 10th round because ironically we were talking to each other to ‘have the towel in hand’ when he went to the doctor and he seemed much more steady on his feet, which we saw.”

ā€œIt’s an extremely hard task to not only find your balance, but also strike at the right moment to stop a fight like that on a whim when your guy is reacting and returning fire.

“I was praised for not toweling Tyson Fury (Deontay Wilder). I was praised for not toweling Leigh Wood (Michael Conlan). First I was criticized and then I was praised for toweling Wood (Mauricio Lara).”

Davison then admitted that he and the team – including Wardley’s long-time coach Rob Hodgins and Lee Wylie – twice considered withdrawing Wardley, but quickly learned otherwise.

“[On two] we looked at it at times, but Round 1 ended in Round 2. Fabio fired a shot and killed Dubois’ momentum. Again, very hard considering the fact that the fighter reacts and returns fire.

ā€œI’ve seen mixed opinions on this, but I agree it CAN [have] was stopped earlier. However, with that being said, I think Howard Foster did well on his terms.

Davison also revealed that his player was fine following stitches and tests in hospital.

Former heavyweight champion criticizes ‘overrated’ Tyson Fury: ‘I am definitely too large for him’

Former heavyweight champion calls out ‘overrated’ Tyson Fury: “I’m way too much for him”

Tyson Fury has been called out by one of his heavyweight counterparts who claims he will “come out like a beast” if they ever clash.

ā€œThe Gypsy Kingā€ is obviously scheduled to face Anthony Joshua later this year, but it happened he expressed interest in having another fight in the meantime.

This followed his unanimous victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov, which saw the 37-year-old end a 16-month break in April.

Although it was ultimately Makhmudov, several heavyweights were in the conversation to face Fury, who has not fought since suffering a second points loss to Oleksandr Usyk.

It appears one of them was Andy Ruiz Jr, who claims he received a personal message from the Briton before his next opponent was announced.

The American’s last outing was a draw against Jarrell Miller in August 2024, when many felt he was lucky to avoid a third professional loss.

Either way, his performance was a far cry from the one he put in against Joshua in 2019, which saw him become the unified heavyweight champion of the world with a stunning seventh-round finish.

In an interview with Casino.orghowever, Ruiz says he has the ability to pull off quite the upset against someone like Fury.

“I would love to fight him. Tyson Fury sent me a message asking what I thought about fighting him, but everyone said it was too threatening for him right now, so I’m pretty sure that’s why he chose Makhmudov.”

ā€œIf I fought [Fury]I think there would be way too much of me. Even though a lot of people say Fury would box me, people have to remember that they haven’t seen me fight really good people. I come out like a beast, especially when I’m in shape.

When asked who he thinks is the most overrated lively fighter, Ruiz made sure to stoke the flames of a potential clash with Fury.

“I’ll say Tyson Fury because they hype him up so much, but I don’t think he’s even a crazy fighter. Yes, he’s achieved a lot in this sport. But I feel like the only person he really beat that was good was [Deontay] Wilder.ā€

While it’s unlikely that Fury and Ruiz will meet anytime soon, it’s a fight that could start to make sense in 2027.
