Jaron Ennis has provided predictions for Saturday’s super welterweight world title fight between Sebastian Fundora and Keith Thurman.

Ennis will be a close observer of Fundora’s WBC title defense against Thurman at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, live on Amazon Prime pay-per-view.

Fundora, who is defending his crown for the third time, is the ponderous favorite to defeat the former unified welterweight champion.

However, “Boots” Ennis believes that Thurman will be able to overcome this situation and become a two-weight world champion.

“At first I thought Fundora would win,” said the 28-year-old YSM sports media.

“But now I have a strange feeling that Keith Thurman will win.

“I don’t know why and I don’t know how, but I had this weird feeling that Keith Thurman was going to win or maybe get knocked off or something.

“I don’t know, I think she might just catch him.”

Fundora has won three overtime wins since a seventh-round knockout loss to Brian Mendoza in 2023.

Ennis became the WBA interim super welterweight champion first round knockout of Uisma Lima in October.

The Philadelphia fighter negotiated a long-awaited showdown with Vergil Ortiz Jr., but the fight didn’t happen because Ortiz was embroiled in a legal dispute with his promotional team, Golden Boy.

“I did everything in my power to make this fight happen for the fans,” Ennis said X failed negotiations with Ortiz.

“I waited long enough and stayed noiseless the whole time.

“It seems like Vergil or his team really didn’t want to fight I came to his fight in his hometown and told him he would be next.

“That was November, it’s March and still nothing. Time to move on. Next two-division champion.

“I told you that the truth has come to lightweight

Ennis is reportedly close to agreeing to fight unified WBO and WBA champion Xander Zayas, with the meeting scheduled for June.

Zayas, 23, added the WBA belt to his collection after a split decision victory over Abass Baraou in January.

Comparison of Tyson Fury’s net worth with Anthony Joshua’s net worth as much richer

Published

on

While the so-called “Battle of Britain” will decide who dominates the ring, the battle for bank balance has already been decided. Despite being at the top of the heavyweight division for most of the last decade, Fury notes that he lags significantly behind AJ in terms of personal wealth.

According to the 2026 Sunday Times Prosperous List, Joshua’s net worth is £240 million, while Fury lags slightly behind at £162 million.

The figure represents a significant jump for Joshua, who was valued at £195 million just twelve months earlier. Much of this rise is attributed to his high-profile fight against Jake Paul in December, which is estimated to have earned him a staggering £70 million.

As a result, he is currently third on the list of the richest dynamic British athletes, behind Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton (£435 million) and golf icon Rory McIlroy (£325 million).

The foundation of Joshua’s fortune is his carefully crafted personal brand. While Fury has long marketed himself as an everyman figure, Joshua has constructed his public image more like a huge corporation than a professional fighter.

AJ’s portfolio is full of profitable, long-term partnerships with premium brands including Under Armor, Hugo Boss and Land Rover.

Combined with the enormous sums accumulated over the course of his career, most notably from his two fights with Oleksandr Usyk and his devastating knockout triumph over Francis Ngannou, these agreements helped him balloon his fortune to staggering proportions.

Fury’s earnings are no less striking, although they come from fight funds rather than commercial revenues. The Gypsy King is reported to have earned around £42 million from his trilogy with Deontay Wilder, with his two spectacular clashes with Usyk in 2024 bringing in well over £150 million.

In the broader context of British sport, both players are now among the country’s financial elite. They easily overtake names such as Harry Kane and Andy Murray, who boast an estimated fortune of around £110 million, making them among the richest people in the country.

Fury could yet make up for that gap with another record payday later this year. But for now, Joshua remains the undisputed heavyweight champion of the balance sheet.

Frank Warren is promoting a Doncaster show for the first time in over thirty years, while Dave Allen is keen to disrupt the odds in his hometown.

Hrgovic will enter the competition as the clear favorite against Allen after his last victory in Saudi Arabia.

“El Animal” heads into the main event looking to burst the bubble of Allen, who is fighting in Doncaster for the first time in over 10 years.

Over the years, Hrgovic has competed at a higher level, with wins over Zhilei Zhang, Dempsey McKean and Joe Joyce.

He last saw action in the Moses Itauma vs. Dillian Whyte match in Riyad, Saudi Arabia.

The Croatian defeated David Adeleye on a huge scorecard, although he faced some adversity in the eighth round when the Briton reacted well after being dropped himself in the earlier round.

During the period in which Hrgovic did not fight, Allen fought twice, the first in October when he faced Tyson Fury’s last opponent, Arslanbek Makhmudov. at the Sheffield Arena.

“The White Rhino” was outscored over 12 rounds, with the three judges scoring him 109-117, 110-116 and 111-115.

Allen returned four months later when he faced French heavyweight Karim Berredjem, whom he handled easily, stopping his fighter with a minute remaining in the first round.

Allen spoke to professional boxing fans after the pair faced off for the first time during fight week and admitted he was the underdog but was joyful for the opportunity.

“I can’t sit here and say I can beat him, but I know I can compete with him.

“You never really know because you might have a one night stand. I just need one night, like when Lucas Browne left his upper body to finish him off.”

“Or [when he won against] Nick Webb, if I hit any of them, it’s game over.

“So I’m going into this with a little more confidence, more confidence than I’ve ever had before.”

Prediction: Hrgovic will have to be at his best to avoid being dragged into the deep end like he was in the eighth round against Adeleye, but he should have enough points to score over the tough Allen.

Michael Gomez Jr. fight with Lee McGregor

Gomez Jr. wastes no time getting back into the ring. Just 46 days after his victory over Jordan Flynn, he returns to fight against the tough Lee McGregor.

He stopped Flynn in the third round of the fight, with the 30-year-old claiming he suffered a broken jaw.

This was Gomez Jr.’s first appearance. since his arrest by Reece Belotti last February.

He will be hoping to build on his recent win against McGregor, who has also fought just once since defeat last year.

McGregor most recently won a points decision over Emiliano Leonel Araujo in his first appearance since being stopped by Nathaniel Collins.

Prediction: Gomez Jr should have enough points to earn points over 10 rounds.

Undercard remaining

Louie O’Doherty and Ahmed Hatim fought challenging in an open training session yesterday and tensions are starting to build between the two undefeated fighters.

They are scheduled to fight for both the British and Commonwealth lightweight titles.

The fight will last 12 rounds. O’Doherty is coming off a 10th-round stoppage win over Regan Glackin, while Hatim won a unanimous decision over Liam Dillon last September.

Prediction: In a real 50-50 fight, O’Doherty could have the points advantage.

Dave Allen’s welterweight fighter, Joe Hayden, returns to action after an impressive second-round stoppage victory over James Atkins after his last fight, during which he won the first belts of his professional career.

He should have more than enough to beat Ryan Frost again in the later rounds, and Frost has defeated his last four opponents.

Exceptional prospects Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev and Kian Hamilton return for the second professional appearance of their careers and both will impress. Each of them should win at the break.

Hull’s Ted Jackson returns to action against Mike Byles and should claim his seventh win since turning professional, while amateur standout Bradley Casey should remain undefeated in the cruiserweight division.

Leighton Birchall should stop Leonardo Baez early in the qualifiers, which will also feature Carl Fail.

Maxi Hughes was scheduled to challenge Lewis Sylvester, but the fight was canceled the week of the fight and “Maximus” withdrew for reasons that have yet to be disclosed.
