Hearn demands Keyshawn Davis face to face Cruz: “No other options” for the WBO Lightweight master
Published

Promoter Eddie Hearn says he wants to fight between the unbeaten Andy Cruz and the featherlight champion WBO Keyshawn Davis. Promoter Matchroom, Hearn, states that Keyshawn (13-0, 9 KO) has no one who is available to fight outside his nemesis, Cruz (5-0, 2 KO).
(Credit: Mark Robinson/Matchroom)
Keyshawn won the WBO 135-pound belt last month, knocking out the master of Denys Berinchyk in the fourth round of February 14 at Madison Square Garden in Fresh York. Although Davis talked about how to be a novel WBO champion will change his life in terms of great fights on his knees, how Isaac “Pitbull” CruzIt didn’t happen.
While the highest rank will not be a vast enough offer to lure Pitbull, there is no sufficiently popular enough to fight for Keyshawn. Maybe he doesn’t care. He never fought with the popular one since he changed the professional and spent most of his time talking about what life would look like when he defeats Gervont Davis one day. He always dreams.
Keyshawn does not want to build to fight the tank, aimed at the highest quality talents. He just wants to fight for a silver plate based on his wins on a lower level fighters.
Andy Cruz Fight
The most realistic struggle for Keyshawna is Andy Cruz, his four -time winner, but he will have to show courage because he did not want to fight the talented Cuban, because he became a professional in 2023. Cruz called him from the first day without happiness, and there is no other way to look at Keyshawn’s reluctance.
He was killed four times in amateurs by Cruz and realizes that he has never defeated him, no matter how substantial he is. Keyshawn looks like it will soon be an average weight because it is huge after he irrigates his fights. During the last fight with the petite 36-year-old Berinchyk resembled a younger average weight at night.
Penniless Berinchyk never had a chance for such a substantial guy. It is a pity that all four sanctioning bodies do not have a 10-pound hydration clause, such as IBF, because it prevents fighters who fight persecutors.
Cruz takes #1 wbc, #3 ibf, #3 wba and #9 wbo. Interestingly, Hearn does not press WBC Lightweight Shakur Stevenson to fight Cruz, but this is understandable. Hearn tries to determine the fight of Gervont Davis for Shakur, and the last thing he needs is that Andy Cruz beat him before he fights.
Eddi’s push
“We want to push Andy Cruz to a great fight.
“It’s also a great fight,” Hearn said that Floyd Schofield is an option for Andy Cruz. “Schofield missed the fight Shakur Stevenson. [Cruz] A little earlier.
“Of course he fought in January [against Omar Salcido]. May or June would be good for Andy – said Hearn.
Floyd Schofield would probably not like to fight Andy Cruz because he must know that Shakur Stevenson will finally look at his path and throw him bone. He will not want to spoil his chances of paying against Shakur, fighting Cruz and learning.

June 5, 2025
Former world champion with three divisions, Vasily Lomachenko, retired after 12 years in the PRO game. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KO) apparently burned out in sport due to injury, lack of motivation and willingness to spend time with his family.
Lomachenko in retirement: End of the era
The Vasily Record as an amateur is 396-1. Many boxing fans will agree that if Ukrainian Luchenko had changed a professional earlier, he would achieve much more because he spent several of his best years in amateur ranks, winning medals and dominating.
Burnout, injuries, family: Loma Out
- No motivation
- Back problems
- Family
- Content with heritage
- Age: 37
If Lomachenko remained in 126 and 130, where he was more suitable in terms of size, he would still be dominant and seen as warrior No. 1 in these weight classes. He was exceeded by his opponents in a slight weight when he got up in 2018.
His fight with much larger Devin Haney in 2023 was an example of Lomachenko’s lack of size for a division of 135 pounds. Despite this, he decided to stay in the weight class, instead of returning to 130 after losing the controversial decision about Devin.
The luxurious now and do not need money, 37-year-old Loma decided to hang gloves. He fought for the last time a year ago, when he knocked out the former united lightweight champion, George Cambosos Jr. In the 11th round, to capture the free title IBF 135-LB on May 12, 2024 in Perth, Australia.
Gervonta Davis, WBA master, hoped to fight Lomachenko in union, but the fight did not occur because the rest of 2024 was elected.
Along with the retirement of Vasily, his lightweight IBF title becomes empty, and the fleeting champion Raymond Muratalla is to be raised to the full belt holder with this organization. For the highest rank, this is positive because it is with them and maintains the title of IBF in their possession.

“We are very excited

The great boxing Vasiliy Lomachenko retired from boxing at the age of 37 after a unique career both amateur and professional.
The Ukrainian Supergivid gathered one of the largest amateur records at 396-1 before Turning Pro.
Lomachenko entered sport as a teenager who was trained by his father and coach Anatoly Lomachenko.
Vasiliy appeared on the stage in 2006, winning the Youth World Championships. Then he won silver in a featherweight in the Amateur World Championships in Chicago.
“Loma” suffered the only loss of his career in the unpaid code in the final against Albert Selimov.
The following year, Lomachenko won gold at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. He repeated a feat four years later in London, winning Olympic gold again.
In the meantime, Lomachenko won the world championship twice, looking unbeatable.
After London, the time has come for Lomachenko to become a professional. The availability of the 25-year-old has changed the plans of each promoter around the world.
Ultimately, the legendary promoter Top Rank Bob Arum won the race.
According to World Boxing News, Oscar de la Hoya was a leader and almost signed a contract with the Golden Boy Promotions.
However, Arum promised Lomachenko that he could order him and fight for the title of world champion in the first and second duel.
Then the contract was concluded.
Lomacheko actually wanted to compete for the belt in his first duel. Despite this, when Arum explained that it was impossible due to the need for the ranking, the amateur star agreed and signed the contract.
Turning Pro in October 2013 Lomachenko fought for the International Title of the WBO featherweight against Jose Luis Ramirez. This scenario meant that Lomachenko would be assessed by the WBO in the first fifteenth and qualifying for the title in his next fight.
The impressive space of the fourth round assured that everyone in the division knew that Lomachenko was a real opportunity.
Five months later, after he turned 26, Arum brought Loamchenko with an experienced professional Orlando Salido. The Mexican had 55 professionals at the belt and was a high order for Lomachenko only in his second fight in paid ranks.
Lomachenko was aimed at destroying the record for the fastest winning title of the world champion in history, but Salido had other ideas.
Salido nodded thanks to the divided decision to Alamodome in San Antonio. Despite his failure, Lomachenko proved that he was a world -class and belonged to the ring with Salido caliber boxers.
Three months later, Arum had all confidence in putting Lomachenko with Gary Russell Jr. On an empty WBO belt, which he missed against Salido.
This time Lomachenko completed his unique mission and won his first world title in his third fight.
Creating three defense, Lomachenko moved to win the title of WBO Super Feather Wweight against Roman Martinez. In this process he became the king of two weighted in seven duels.
There were four more defenses, including the outstanding victory over the Cuban legend of Guillermo Rigondeaux. Then Loma defeated Jorge Linares to become the number of WBN Pound for pounds before he sought for the third grade in his 13th duel.
Lomachenko rejected Jose Pedraza before he set out to double English, which would mean the unification of a slight division.
The detention of Anthony Collla in four in Staples Center and dropping and defeating Luke Campbell in London gave Lomachenko WBO and WBC Lightweight Champion.
With a certain place in the history of boxing, Lomachenko signed a contract with the unknown Teofimo Lopez in the highest rank bubble at MGM Grand.
Lopez won the shock to cause only the third loss of Lomachenko in over 400 duels, amateur and professional.
By putting a loss on one side, Lomachenko won three wins in a row to put himself on a crack at Unified Champion Devin Haney.
In the battle of May 2023, which was the most thinking of Lomachenko enough to win, Haney decided what quickly became his least favorite place to the box in MGM in Las Vegas.
Lomachenko fought again before he decided to hang the gloves. “Hi-tech” defeated George Cambosos Jr. For an empty IBF title in Australia to complete his career as a five -time world champion in three expiry.
Lomachenko announced that he had had a year to leave this sport, he announced his retirement to the world, despite reports of further negotiations with Gervont Davis.
He said: “First of all, I want to thank our Lord Jesus Christ for everything he did for me. For leading a proud youthful man on a path that eventually showed me that fame, heritage and recognition are not a real goal of life.
“I am grateful for every victory and every failure, both in the ring and in life. I am grateful that when my career ends, I generated clarity about the direction in which a person must achieve to achieve a real victory, not only in the ring, but in overcoming his ancient self.
“Only then can you receive your real reward. I thank God for my wonderful, kind parents, for their protection and love, and the heat that I felt throughout my life.
“My father (Anatoly) not only taught me boxing art, but also how to be a role model for my own children, as he was always for me.
“I made a lot of mistakes in my life and in the gym, but he was always mine. He improved me if necessary. I have many heated memories, Dad, I love you very much.
“You have always stood with me for my family. You shared your joy in my victories and felt pain in my losses, but these moments are only stronger.
“Anatolyiovich, you He is a really unique person who taught me so much. Without you, my career puzzles would not happen.
“You are a world -class professional. Our journey had ups and downs, but we faced dignity. Your personal characteristics are something else. You are a man who devotes his time and energy to others. I am grateful that a professional relationship has become a real friendship. Thank you for everything.
“To Egis (Klimas) for everything you have done for me and my family, you are a man who knows his craft, the best manager in the world. You are a man who knows his craft who became a friend and part of our family.
“Your professionalism goes hand in hand with your character, honesty, honesty, kindness and the ability to find a solution in every situation.
“You were a manager who managed one hundred percent challenge with every challenge. I wish the strength of spirit and the best health that thanks to you recent boxing stars can enhance.
“I want to thank the highest rank and Bob Arum for an amazing opportunity to present my skills in boxing. I am grateful to the United States of America for giving me the opportunity to realize my potential.
“And of course it would be that I do not mention you, my dear boxing fans around the world. You have always supported me with passion and for over a decade you have experienced unforgettable fights.
“I hope you still love and respect this sport as passionately, because a man who enters the ring risks his health because of his family.
“Here is everyone, please bless your people.”
