Gervonta Davis kept his featherlight WBA title, but on Saturday Lamont Roach in Brooklyn maintained the stunning decision of the majority.

Davis was lucky that he left the flawless after he temporarily took his knees in the ninth round, but judge Steve Willis did not grant Roach to knocking down, the moment that turned out to be crucial. Two judges shot him 114-114 per item, and the other in 115-113 in favor of “Tank” to announce the competition with an impasse.

Roach, the prevailing world champion of Super Feather WBA, who fought with Davis in amateurs, was a lot of feeble fighting, but he seemed foreign to the first two rounds, with a “tank”, notoriously tardy starting, implementing a cautious approach.

The 30-year-old found his rhythm in the third round, connecting to the opponent’s body.

Davis, who detained Frank Martin in the eighth round in June last year, built a halfway advantage, raising his work and the accuracy of the impact, although Roach remained competitive throughout the round, willing to trade his pocket despite the combinations that landed on the head and body.

“Reaper” attracted the attention of the tubular Baltimore with a demanding right hand in seventh place and stumbled for a moment in the eight round another powerful right hand.

Roach was prepared for further trade with “Tank”, and after sending another right in the ninth Davis voluntarily knee, he ran towards the corner and wiped his head with a towel by his coach Calvin Ford.

Judge Steve Willis did not admit Roach from Breaking, and Davis took the round, landing a few cruel combinations, although the chin of Roach became mighty.

The man from Washington ended the fight strongly, making his rival miss and make him pay him with exact meters, and the fight went to the results cards.

Judge Eric Marlinski granted Davis a fight 115-113, but was lifted by two results 114-114 by Glenn Feldman and Steve Weisfeld, respectively to make her most of the draw.

Davis admitted that he would be open to the rematch.

“I made him competitive,” he said after the fight.

“But certainly Lamont is a great warrior.

“He has skills, has a power to hit.

“Shout with Lamont Roach and his whole team.

“I hope it will definitely be back. Let’s go back to Up-to-date York. “

Roach cut off a naturally depressed figure after the follow -up, but he agreed with the “tank” that he would be willing to have a rematch.

“I am a bit disappointed with this decision,” explained the 29-year-old after the fight.

“I definitely thought I won, but we can come back.

“Gervont is a great warrior.”

Russell Dethrones Valenzuela to get the WBA crown

Gary Antuanne Russell made an excellent show to tear the super featherlight WBA title from Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela.

Russell (18-1, 17 KO) dominated the opening round, at its better speed, skills and volume, overwhelming Valenzuela (14-3, 9 KO).

28-year-old Southpaw lacked a clear winner with two results 119-109 and one at 120-108, providing him with his first world championship title.

Frank Warren is promoting a Doncaster show for the first time in over thirty years, while Dave Allen is keen to disrupt the odds in his hometown.

Hrgovic will enter the competition as the clear favorite against Allen after his last victory in Saudi Arabia.

“El Animal” heads into the main event looking to burst the bubble of Allen, who is fighting in Doncaster for the first time in over 10 years.

Over the years, Hrgovic has competed at a higher level, with wins over Zhilei Zhang, Dempsey McKean and Joe Joyce.

He last saw action in the Moses Itauma vs. Dillian Whyte match in Riyad, Saudi Arabia.

The Croatian defeated David Adeleye on a huge scorecard, although he faced some adversity in the eighth round when the Briton reacted well after being dropped himself in the earlier round.

During the period in which Hrgovic did not fight, Allen fought twice, the first in October when he faced Tyson Fury’s last opponent, Arslanbek Makhmudov. at the Sheffield Arena.

“The White Rhino” was outscored over 12 rounds, with the three judges scoring him 109-117, 110-116 and 111-115.

Allen returned four months later when he faced French heavyweight Karim Berredjem, whom he handled easily, stopping his fighter with a minute remaining in the first round.

Allen spoke to professional boxing fans after the pair faced off for the first time during fight week and admitted he was the underdog but was joyful for the opportunity.

“I can’t sit here and say I can beat him, but I know I can compete with him.

“You never really know because you might have a one night stand. I just need one night, like when Lucas Browne left his upper body to finish him off.”

“Or [when he won against] Nick Webb, if I hit any of them, it’s game over.

“So I’m going into this with a little more confidence, more confidence than I’ve ever had before.”

Prediction: Hrgovic will have to be at his best to avoid being dragged into the deep end like he was in the eighth round against Adeleye, but he should have enough points to score over the tough Allen.

Michael Gomez Jr. fight with Lee McGregor

Gomez Jr. wastes no time getting back into the ring. Just 46 days after his victory over Jordan Flynn, he returns to fight against the tough Lee McGregor.

He stopped Flynn in the third round of the fight, with the 30-year-old claiming he suffered a broken jaw.

This was Gomez Jr.’s first appearance. since his arrest by Reece Belotti last February.

He will be hoping to build on his recent win against McGregor, who has also fought just once since defeat last year.

McGregor most recently won a points decision over Emiliano Leonel Araujo in his first appearance since being stopped by Nathaniel Collins.

Prediction: Gomez Jr should have enough points to earn points over 10 rounds.

Undercard remaining

Louie O’Doherty and Ahmed Hatim fought challenging in an open training session yesterday and tensions are starting to build between the two undefeated fighters.

They are scheduled to fight for both the British and Commonwealth lightweight titles.

The fight will last 12 rounds. O’Doherty is coming off a 10th-round stoppage win over Regan Glackin, while Hatim won a unanimous decision over Liam Dillon last September.

Prediction: In a real 50-50 fight, O’Doherty could have the points advantage.

Dave Allen’s welterweight fighter, Joe Hayden, returns to action after an impressive second-round stoppage victory over James Atkins after his last fight, during which he won the first belts of his professional career.

He should have more than enough to beat Ryan Frost again in the later rounds, and Frost has defeated his last four opponents.

Exceptional prospects Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev and Kian Hamilton return for the second professional appearance of their careers and both will impress. Each of them should win at the break.

Hull’s Ted Jackson returns to action against Mike Byles and should claim his seventh win since turning professional, while amateur standout Bradley Casey should remain undefeated in the cruiserweight division.

Leighton Birchall should stop Leonardo Baez early in the qualifiers, which will also feature Carl Fail.

Maxi Hughes was scheduled to challenge Lewis Sylvester, but the fight was canceled the week of the fight and “Maximus” withdrew for reasons that have yet to be disclosed.

The 42-year-old, who has fallen twice in the fight, previously announced he would end his 50-fight professional career regardless of the outcome.

However, the Londoner now claims he wants to secure a rematch with the ‘Brown Bomber’ after his wife allowed him to continue fighting.

Wilder was hoping to secure a long-awaited fight against Anthony Joshua, whom he called out after defeating Chisora.

40-year-old former world heavyweight champion passed by “AJ” after the fight and told him: “let’s do it.”

However, Joshua, who has not fought since knocking out Jake Paul in December, has opted to fight Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Riyad and will then face Tyson Fury in November, provided he wins.

Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel stated that Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn had not contacted them.

“You can’t be disappointed with something that never happened,” Finkel said Heavenly sports.

“Eddie never contacted us and Joshua obviously had no intention of fighting Deontay Wilder.

“Same ancient story, just fresh date.”

Joshua’s fight against Prenga is his first since defeating Paul and a fatal car crash that killed two of his close friends and left him with minor injuries.

Fury, who retired last month and defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov, is now also expected to fight again before finally facing his British rival.
