Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois – weigh-in results
Published
1 month agoon
Fabio Wardley was lighter than Daniel Dubois, who stepped on the scale at the highest weight of his career.
Wardley will defend his WBO heavyweight title against Dubois on Saturday at the Co-op Live Arena, live on DAZN.
Wardley tipped the scales at 242.2 pounds, just under half a pound less than his last victory over Joseph Parker, when he entered the competition at 242.7 pounds; in the fight with Parker he was lower, as he will be on Saturday.
Dubois weighed 251.7 pounds, the most of his career; “DDD” had his last fight against Oleksandr Usyk weighing in at 243.8 pounds, so the weight enhance is clearly intentional.
TalkSport’s Simon Jordan covered the pair’s latest clash on DAZN’s recent fight week format, ‘The Cauldron’.
Both men pursed their lips, saying, “The call is over,” waiting for the first bell to ring, which could be expected in less than 24 hours.
Wardley is defending his world heavyweight title for the first time after being promoted from interim champion in November.
The undefeated Ipswich fighter stopped former world champion Joseph Parker in the 11th round in his last appearance in October.
Dubois looks like a two-time world heavyweight champion who previously held the IBF crown.
The 28-year-old will enter the All-British fight following a fifth-round knockout defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in July last year.
With a knockout rate of 95% in each case, few expect Saturday’s fight to be a long one, and a defiant Dubois predicted a knockout victory.
“I’m going to eliminate him,” the 28-year-old said Sky Sports News.
“Put him to sleep, take this belt.
“I’m just going to fight like I fight, and what I do is cause damage and cause pain.
“That’s all I’m going to do.
“He was a decent fighter, but I will show that it is at a certain level.
“But he behaved decently, you can’t take anything away from him.
“Just watch and see. I will show up.
“I’m motivated, really motivated.
“I came back from being champion and I’m going to try to be champion again, so I’m ready for it.”

Wardley is as confident as his rival and has warned him against getting into a shootout with him.
“If he wants to commit and get stuck in, in my case I don’t think it will last long,” the 31-year-old told Pro Boxing Fans after Thursday’s final press conference.
– This won’t work in his favor.
“But from the sounds of it, his team has no plans to do that.
“I think they’re trying to stay away from me.”

Frank Warren ‘cannot’ promote Fury vs Joshua on Netflix
Published

It seems that Frank Warren has ruled out the possibility of being the main promoter of the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua match.
Fury and Joshua have signed contracts to fight in the highly anticipated heavyweight battle later this year.
There is an ongoing discussion between Warren [Fury’s promoter], Eddie Hearn [Joshua’s promoter] and Zuffa Boxing boss Dana White on who will take over the promotional lead for the mega fight, which is being bankrolled by Saudi Arabian boxing boss Turki Alalshikh.
White claimed he would be in charge despite having no contracts with either man, while Hearn and Warren stated that the contracts excluded Zuffa from any involvement in the show.
However, Warren admitted that neither his company Queensberry nor Hearn’s Matchroom – which has exclusive broadcast deals with streaming service DAZN – can promote the fight, which is likely to end up on Netflix.
“We have an exclusive deal with DAZN for our fights in the UK,” said the 74-year-old talkSPORT.
“As for the Tyson vs. Joshua fight, it will be available on Netflix.
“So if the fight was in the UK and it was on Netflix, we wouldn’t be able to promote it anyway. The same goes for Eddie Hearn, he’s in the same situation.
“If you remember, Eddie, who is the promoter of “AJ,” his last fight was promoted by Jake Paul.”
Fury made headlines over the weekend after attending UFC Freedom 250 at the White House, where he was photographed alongside White and US President Donald Trump.
The “Gypsy King” teased White’s announcement regarding his future, and the UFC boss said it would be announced soon.
But on Wednesday, Fury’s manager denied the deal with Zuffa, insisting that the 37-year-old was invited by Alalshikh, who worked with White to launch Zuffa.

Warren also assured that the two-time world heavyweight champion remains under contract with him.
“Tyson hasn’t signed a contract with anyone,” he added.
– I have a contract with him.
“I’m very, very cheerful with that, and our business relationship has been, and continues to be, good.
“I don’t have any problems.
Joshua will make his first return on July 25 against Kristian Prengi in Saudi Arabia.
Fury, who retired in April to defeat Arslanbek Makhmudov, intends to have another warm-up fight in August before finally facing “AJ” in November.

On July 18, Gladius will enter the world of boxing for the first time when Harlem Eubank will face David Papot.
The Eubank vs Papot fight will take place at the Copper Box Arena in London, and DAZN will broadcast the event using groundbreaking Gladius technology.
Gladius is a brand novel performance analytics platform that uses video, audio, sensors and volumetric capture to deliver real-time data to viewers.
Some of the main novel features that fans will appreciate include instant data on impact force, fighter speed, and the impact of various shots.
Gladius will also reveal fatigue indicators and information about different punch combinations.
The platform will present 360-degree replays of key fight moments, allowing you to watch fights from a previously unseen perspective.
One of the most stimulating technologies the company offers is its digital rubber shield system, allowing viewers to understand both the impact force and the exact location of each impact as it lands.
The fight night experience will also be enhanced by audio, as Gladius’ AI Audio system will amplify the sounds of punches and display them throughout the Copper Box Arena.

Gladius CEO Oliver Hickey has revealed that he is excited to be entering the world of boxing.
“This is the beginning of a novel era in combat sports. Gladius creates a single, trusted source of truth by intelligently combining video, volumetric capture, audio and wearable sensors.
“On July 18, fans will see the power, speed and power of every hit in real time with Matrix-style volumetric replays and insights that turn raw action into compelling understanding.
“We believe we are building the ultimate infrastructure for the future of sports.”
MF Pro co-founder Kalle Sauerland also provided insight into the partnership with Gladius.
“We’re proud to partner with Gladius on this groundbreaking event. Boxing has always been a sport of heart and skill, but Gladius takes it to the next level with data fans have never had access to before.
“Harlem Eubank is the perfect player to showcase this technology – a vigorous talent whose performances will come to life like never before.”
Eubank, who defeated Josh Wagner in Novembercommented on his intentions on July 18, emphasizing that he was a world-class operator and expressing his desire to stop the French opponent.
“On July 18, live on DAZN, I will remind sports that I am a world-class operator.
“David Papot is more than just a gateway to the top of the welterweight division, he is a proven threat to anyone weighing 147 pounds.
“But I plan to meet this challenge in a devastating and decisive manner, sending a warning shot to the champions in my weight class.
“Thank you to my promoters, MF Pro, who are collaborating with Gladius on this event and bringing some really captivating ideas and concepts to the audience on DAZN.”

The next fight date for Moses Itaum and his opponent has been confirmed

Moses Itauma will move up in his class in his next appearance.
proboxing-fans.com confirmed the report from Heavenly sports that Itauma will face Filip Hrgovic on August 29 at the O2 Arena in London.
The rising British heavyweight last fought in March, defeating Jermaine Franklin in five rounds.
The victory came just seven months after the 21-year-old defeated former world title challenger Dillian Whyte in the first round.
The undefeated Kent fighter will risk his position as number one in both the WBO and WBA when he faces Hrgovic, who is just behind him in the WBO rankings.
“El Animal” secured the vacant IBF Intercontinental title with a third-round victory over Dave Allen last month.
It was the third victory for the 34-year-old after rebounding from his only professional defeat against Daniel Dubois.
Itauma will be the Croatian’s fifth British opponent in a row, following his last four fights against David Adeleye and Joe Joyce, which he won by unanimous decision.

“I want to fight anyone in the division. Moses, anyone,” he said after defeating Allen.
“I just need to talk to the manager and the team, see if there are any injuries or cuts.
“Give me a mirror, I’ll sign the contract now.
“I never run away from any opponent.

“Listen, if I’m vigorous, there’s no problem for me.
“We need to see what’s going on. I need to rest.
“Moses never reached the promised land.”
Itauma has been linked with an all-British clash with WBO heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, but the Londoner is on course for a rematch with Fabio Wardley later this year.
A fight with unified champion Oleksandr Usyk was also discussed, although the Ukrainian ruled out fighting him.

“I don’t want to fight Itauma because he’s a juvenile guy,” said the 39-year-old Inside the Ring.
“I don’t want to break this guy.
“He’s a guy like me.
