Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois – weigh-in results
Published
53 minutes agoon
Fabio Wardley was lighter than Daniel Dubois, who stepped on the scale at the highest weight of his career.
Wardley will defend his WBO heavyweight title against Dubois on Saturday at the Co-op Live Arena, live on DAZN.
Wardley tipped the scales at 242.2 pounds, just under half a pound less than his last victory over Joseph Parker, when he entered the competition at 242.7 pounds; in the fight with Parker he was lower, as he will be on Saturday.
Dubois weighed 251.7 pounds, the most of his career; “DDD” had his last fight against Oleksandr Usyk weighing in at 243.8 pounds, so the weight enhance is clearly intentional.
TalkSport’s Simon Jordan covered the pair’s latest clash on DAZN’s recent fight week format, ‘The Cauldron’.
Both men pursed their lips, saying, “The call is over,” waiting for the first bell to ring, which could be expected in less than 24 hours.
Wardley is defending his world heavyweight title for the first time after being promoted from interim champion in November.
The undefeated Ipswich fighter stopped former world champion Joseph Parker in the 11th round in his last appearance in October.
Dubois looks like a two-time world heavyweight champion who previously held the IBF crown.
The 28-year-old will enter the All-British fight following a fifth-round knockout defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in July last year.
With a knockout rate of 95% in each case, few expect Saturday’s fight to be a long one, and a defiant Dubois predicted a knockout victory.
“I’m going to eliminate him,” the 28-year-old said Sky Sports News.
“Put him to sleep, take this belt.
“I’m just going to fight like I fight, and what I do is cause damage and cause pain.
“That’s all I’m going to do.
“He was a decent fighter, but I will show that it is at a certain level.
“But he behaved decently, you can’t take anything away from him.
“Just watch and see. I will show up.
“I’m motivated, really motivated.
“I came back from being champion and I’m going to try to be champion again, so I’m ready for it.”

Wardley is as confident as his rival and has warned him against getting into a shootout with him.
“If he wants to commit and get stuck in, in my case I don’t think it will last long,” the 31-year-old told Pro Boxing Fans after Thursday’s final press conference.
– This won’t work in his favor.
“But from the sounds of it, his team has no plans to do that.
“I think they’re trying to stay away from me.”

Fabio Wardley gives his final prediction for the Daniel Dubois fight
Published

Fabio Wardley has issued a stern warning to Daniel Dubois ahead of his highly anticipated world heavyweight title fight on Saturday.
Wardley makes his first defense of his WBO crown against British rival Dubois at the Co-op Live Arena, live on DAZN.
Both pairs have a knockout rate of 95% and few expected their fight to last as long as it did.
The undefeated player from Ipswich promised that he would give his rival the third defeat in his career.
“By knockout,” the 31-year-old said during Thursday’s meeting last press conference.
“I’m going to approach it the same way I approach all my fights.
“Providing fans with entertainment, value for money and ultimately winning.
“He’s knocked out.
“I’ve done it to 95% of my opponents and for me he’s just next on the list.
“I’m getting him out of there.
“It will end.
“He will be cleansed.
– I’m going to immaculate him up.
Both fighters had frosty fight week preparations, with Dubois shouting out his rival at Thursday’s final press conference after Wardley stated earlier this week that if he didn’t fight, he would be working as a binman.
The 28-year-old, who is also projected to win by knockout, looks to be a two-time world heavyweight champion.
The former IBF titlist fought for the undisputed crown after a fifth-round defeat to Oleksandr Usyk last August.
Wardley was promoted from interim to full WBO champion after Usyk vacated the WBO title.

Wardley is a slight favorite in the bookmakers and in October he scored the biggest victory of his career, stopping former world champion Joseph Parker in the 11th round.
The pair will come face to face for the last time at the weigh-ins at Bowlers in Manchester on Friday at 6pm BST.

Eddie Hearn denies Dana White is promoting Fury vs Joshua fight

Eddie Hearn has denied Dana White’s claims that he will promote the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight.
Last month, Hearn confirmed that Joshua had he signed that he wanted to fight Fury’s long-time rival later this year.
The long-awaited and long-awaited British grudge match is likely to air in November on streaming giant Netflix, which broadcast Fury’s victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.
White, the Zuffa Boxing boss, has stated that he will be promoting the long-awaited British mega fight.
“I’m doing the Tyson Fury vs. AJ fight,” White said during the Kick with Nina Drama broadcast on Thursday.
Hearn, Joshua’s longtime promoter, denied that his American rival had taken over.
“What a power grabber,” the match room chairman wrote on his Instagram story.
“There is no chance and it is contractually impossible.
“Let me know when you find the eggs.”

Hearn and White have been at odds for months since the UFC boss entered boxing alongside Zuffa, and the pair have even talked about potentially fighting each other.
Their rivalry intensified when Conor Benn left Matchroom and joined Zuffa in a lucrative one-fight contract worth $15 million.
Benn signed a fresh long-term contract with White after beating Regis Prograis last month, with Hearn hinting at legal action in the situation.
The Matchroom boss has once again attacked White, insisting that he claims he will promote the Fury vs Makhmudov fight, but instead the event will be promoted by Spencer Brown’s Goldstar Promotions.

“Oh yes, they said they were promoting this one too [Fury vs Makhmudov].
“What happened?”
Joshua will make his first return since Jake Paul’s sixth-round knockout in December when he faces undefeated Albanian Kristian Prenga in Riyad on July 25.
10 days after Paul’s arrest, “AJ” escaped with minor injuries after a fatal car crash in Nigeria that killed two of his close friends.
Fury is expected to fight again before finally meeting Joshua, with his victory over Makhmudov being his first since retiring.

“He could be in trouble” – Tony Bellew predicts Wardley vs Dubois fight
Published

Tony Bellew believes Fabio Wardley can beat Daniel Dubois this Saturday, provided he weathers the early storm.
Wardley defends his WBO heavyweight title in a highly anticipated fight against Dubois at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, live on DAZN.
16 of Dubois’ 21 knockout wins have come in the first four rounds and Bellew believes Wardley must survive the early onslaught.
“Once three or four rounds go by, it will probably only go one way,” the 43-year-old said Fight in your corner.
“But for the first three or four rounds, Fabio may be in trouble.
“He has to make his presence known to Daniel Dubois in the first few minutes of the fight.
“Daniel Dubois is a tyrant when it comes to boxing, and tyrants don’t do well when it starts working against them.
“As a top player, Daniel Dubois is a problem.
“So you have to give him a difficult time in the first few minutes and start losing confidence, because if you give him any confidence you’re going to get in trouble.
“Wardley is the only one who can win at the end.”
Dubois, who is listed as the underdog among bookmakers, is fighting for the title of two-time world heavyweight champion, having previously held the IBF belt.
The 28-year-old knocked out Anthony Joshua for his best career win in 2024, but was knocked out in the fifth round of the rematch with Oleksandr Usyk during his last trip in August.
Wardley stopped Joseph Parker in the 11th round in October and won the WBO interim crown before being elevated to full champion in November after Usyk vacated the WBO title.
After a fierce fight, the British rivals faced each other for the second time this week last press conference on Thursday.
Dynamite has criticized the Ipswich resident for what he considers a lack of respect after Wardley claimed that the Londoner would be working as a garbage collector if he didn’t box.
“Fabio, I heard you called me a garbage man, and I’m going to pick up a garbage man,” Dubois said excitedly.
“It’s disrespectful, so I’ll tell the ring boy that straight away.
“I heard what you said.
– I’ll burst his bubble anyway.
