World Boxing News can only reveal that Shannon Briggs will no longer compete on July 1 after the injury suffered during the preparation.
The Country Box promoter, Jimmy Adams, explained that after the confusion after the initial report, WBN Briggs was no longer on the card, without any reason officially disclosed.
WBN announced on June 30 that Evan Holyfield would replace Briggs on the card, which drew questions due to the lack of full explanation.

Since then, Adams has explained World Boxing News that Briggs is unable to fight this month, but the 53-year-old heavyweight champion WBO will not be available long.
“Shannon wounded in his knee and moved the fight until August 5, still in Country Box,” Adams said only World Boxing News.
Briggs (60-6-1, 53 KO) went to Turkey and, after fully recovering, continued training on August 5.
WBN contacted the BRIGGS team in order to obtain further medical updates and will provide fresh achievements of the potential McCall fight as they were developed.
However, WBN understands that injury may not require surgery.

Asked if Oliver McCall (60-14-1, 40 KO), who fought with the Country show in April at the age of 60, could be the future opponent of Briggs, Adams for the first time confirmed that the clash of two former heavyweight champions is in his thinking.
Adams said WBN: “Nothing was confirmed in black and white about Shannon Briggs vs Oliver McCall. But would McCall and Briggs not be an captivating fight with these two former masters?”
Briggs versus McCall would continue the heavyweight trend of the 90s, which still fights much later than usual.
