Devin Haney delivered one of the standout performances of 2025 to become a three-division world champion, and the undefeated American has now been called up by one of his fellow 147-pound titleholders for an intriguing unification clash.
Having reigned at both lightweight and super lightweight, Haney moved up to welterweight to face undefeated WBO champion Brian Norman Jr., who was defeated with relative ease despite many fans previously believing the fight would be a 50/50 draw.
Now “The Dream” hopes to become the undisputed multi-division champion after previously doing so at lightweight, while awaiting the official announcement of his rematch with Ryan Garcia, who will fight for the WBC crown next month. He also has his eye on WBA champion Rolando Romero and the IBF belt currently held by Lewis Crocker.
I’m talking to Ring MagazineCrocker called for a collaboration with Haney to become a unified list of titles.
“Absolutely, [Devin Haney is my number one target]. Haney is on the pound-for-pound list, he’s a multiple world heavyweight champion, he’s a gigantic name and it’s good that he’s interested and willing to fight.”
“At the end of the day, champions should fight champions, especially for us and the fans.”
Crocker recently announced his split from coach Billy Nelson, despite the Scot leading Crocker to world honors last year. The Belfast-born operator named Huzaifah Iqbal as his modern main corner, and Iqbal spoke with confidence ahead of a potential fight with Haney.
“This is what he wants, this is what he’s about, it definitely suits me. I really love technical fights and every fight has to be something that Lewis is ready for. Lewis is really ready for every fight,
“I spent these car trips with him where we talked [of potential opponents] and he’s ready for anything, but I would love it [Devin Haney fight] And I know he would love it.”
Crocker has also been linked with a voluntary defense of his titles and a rematch with Wolverhampton’s Conah Walker, whom he controversially defeated in 2024, but the IBF yesterday rejected that request.
Instead, The Ulsterman was ordered to defend his lane against former Australian super lightweight world champion and current IBF mandatory challenger, Liam Paro.
