After four title fights in one calendar year, Merab Dvalishvili has been patiently waiting for word on his rematch against Petr Yan to settle their trilogy sometime in 2026.

Conor McGregor dismisses Khabib Nurmagomedov's place on all-time MMA list: "The man has no courage"

Conor McGregor has no love lost for Khabib Nurmagomedov in his latest rant about his old foe.
McGregor is set to make his comeback fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329 on Saturday, but most fans expected “The Eagle's†name to be brought up during fight week at some point. That moment occurred during the popular Irishman's interview with Complex. McGregor was asked to rank MMA legends on an all-time list, and things went awry quickly when Nurmagomedov was mentioned.
The “Notorious†one explained why Nurmagomedov would go nowhere near his GOAT list for MMA stars both past and present.
😂 Conor Mcgregor REFUSES to put Khabib in his MMA G.O.A.T. list, says he was doing ‘bad things’ on a yacht before their fight:
“He had a fight against me coming off.. I was on a yacht doing bad things.”

“Thirteen fights he's had in the company,†McGregor said. “That's it, and three against named opponents. He had a fight against me. I was off the yacht. I was doing bad things on a yacht, yeah? I was partying heavily and I was with my eyeballs in court cases and all of this. I hadn't fought in two years. I was worth 200 million. I come back and fight this [expletive] guy. I done four rounds with him and a broken toe. I'm sure you've seen the Netflix show when I broke my [expletive] foot three weeks before the bout.â€
McGregor didn't stop there, as he criticized Nurmagomedov for his style of fighting.
“This guy's nothing,†McGregor continued. “Then, where is he now also? He's gone. So, I don't rate him at all. The man has no courage. Never fought at both weight divisions. Three fights, no stoppages, no knockouts. Come on, man.â€
McGregor also discarded Nurmagomedov's run prior to entering the UFC roster. The former UFC lightweight and featherweight titleholder believes “The Eagle†was matched against inexperienced talent to pad his record.
With the “Notorious†one's recent comments, it's another reminder that peace between him and Nurmagomedov is unlikely despite the fact that their bout took place back in Oct. 2018. Nurmagomedov won the fight via fourth-round submission, and a post-fight brawl took place between both teams.

Conor McGregor admits he needed to 'dig deep' ahead of comeback fight: "It takes a lot of deep internal work to return"

Conor McGregor will be returning to the Octagon on Saturday for the first in five years, and he says it took some soul-searching to get to this point.
McGregor is set to collide with Max Holloway in the final bout on the UFC 329 card in Las Vegas. The “Notorious†one hasn't seen active pro MMA competition since suffering a broken leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021. Fans expected to see McGregor back in 2024, but an injury setback led to disappointment.
The road back to fighting hasn't been an easy one for McGregor. Episode three of “UFC 329 Embedded†highlighted the Irishman's recent interview with ESPN's Brett Okamoto. McGregor admitted some introspection was needed before he was ready to get back to the action.
“You know, you've got to dig deep, and you've got to prove to yourself you are what you say you are,†McGregor said. “So, that's what it was for me. I was using it as motivation. It takes a lot of deep internal work to return from an injury like that. I just used that as motivation. Lovely. I wish for it to be that way because now I can show, and on Saturday night I'm gonna show. I love fight night, fight week, and god willing I'm back here next week and the week after. We plan on getting busy here. So, I'll need to keep that fire and that venom. Literally, that's what it will be. It will be venomous inside this Octagon.â€
McGregor is the underdog going into his clash with Holloway, as many question just how much “Mystic Mac†has left given his inactivity. “Blessed†is motivated to put on a vintage performance after his disappointing BMF title loss against Charles Oliveira back in March. McGregor's insists that his motivation overpowers any man that stands across from him.
Will Conor McGregor's decision to return pay off in more ways than a big check on Saturday, or will it be a bad night in the office for the megastar? Leave a comment with your opinion in the chat below.

Merab Dvalishvili sends message to Petr Yan, promises to make Henry Cejudo ‘get drunk’ in Georgia after RAF match

Unfortunately, Dvalishvili hasn't heard a single word from the UFC on when he might actually get the chance to face Yan again and with the calendar already filled through August, the former champion is admittedly getting a little anxious. The original delay in booking the trilogy centered around Yan suffering an injury that was going to delay his return to action and Dvalishvili sent a message to the reigning UFC bantamweight champion in hopes of getting some kind of word about booking that third fight — hopefully sooner than later.
“I guess I'm not fighting in August and I haven't heard anything from Petr Yan,†Dvalishvili told MMA Fighting. “I'm just waiting for him and I'm praying he's coming back soon. I don't know.
“Petr, come back soon, bro. Let's fight. I want to fight. Let's go.â€
If there's one advantage to the time off, Dvalishvili has been able to heal up some nagging injuries, although he added to that list recently after breaking his nose in training and then again during a recent wrestling match.
Dvalishvili downplayed the severity of the nose injury on both occasions and he almost expects it to happen again, which is why he's not stressing that affecting his ability to fight in the near future.
“My nose is good now,†Dvalishvili said. “It's healed up. But if it happens, I don't care anymore. I'll be fine.â€
With the Yan trilogy still on hold, Dvalishvili has been keeping busy in his spare time by crossing over to freestyle wrestling with matches booked in RAF.
Following a win over UFC Hall of Famer Frankie Edgar in his RAF debut, Dvalishvili now gets the chance to fight at home with the promotion going to Georgia on Saturday for an international event with the former bantamweight champion facing Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo in the main event.
They were originally scheduled to clash at a prior RAF event but Cejudo dropped off the card at the last minute due to undisclosed reasons. Now Dvalishvili faces Cejudo in his native country and he admits that raises the stakes dramatically for him personally.
“This is pressure for sure,†Dvalishvili said. “I haven't competing in my country since 2010. It's going to be exciting but maybe a little bit stressful, too, because I can't lose [in front of] my people. It's going to be hard. Who knows?â€
When they met in the UFC, Dvalishvili was able to take Cejudo down and ultimately win a unanimous decision before moving onto capture the title at 135 pounds.
But that was MMA and this time Dvalishvili is a distinct underdog going against Cejudo, who captured an Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling back in 2008. No matter the result, Dvalishvili says he's planning for a raucous night in Georgia after he faces Cejudo and he wants the former two-division UFC champion that he better have his party shoes on after the match.
“Maybe he wants to avenge his loss and I'm sure he's training hard to beat me,†Dvalishvili said. “Let's see. He's the best at wrestling. I have an advantage competing at my home in Georgia but it's his sport wrestling. We'll see what's going to happen.
“Whatever it will be, I'll be happy. After our match, win or lose, I'm going to make Henry Cejudo get drunk in Georgia. Give him lots of good Georgian food and show him hospitality. I have so much respect for Henry. He's a good athlete and a good father.â€
