David Benavidez picks Devin Haney to defeat WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. November 22 in Riyad.

He says the “experience” Haney (32-0, 16 KO) has fighting “massive fighters” will give him the edge he needs to beat Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KO) at the ANB Arena in their joint fight.

Benavidez plays it protected

It must be difficult for Benavidez. He makes the November 22 gala available to Haney and a fight between them at the same gala, which will take place in early 2026 in Saudi Arabia, is also being considered. “He’s able to operate more of his power, more conditioning and more speed,” Benavidez said of Haney. “I didn’t actually see Brian Norman, I saw him knock some guy down [Jin Sasaki] he’s out, the Japanese, but when it comes to opponents, Devin Haney is miles ahead of him,” said Benavidez

A threat to Norman’s power

Haney has beaten some good, older fighters who have struggled in their careers. It doesn’t matter what he has done in the past because he is fighting at 147 pounds against what many boxing fans consider to be the strongest puncher in the division. What Devin has done in the past won’t save him if he can’t handle the force of Norman’s punch.

“I don’t like people downplaying Devin Haney because he has so many great fighters on his resume. So many great fighters. He’s had great fights and he’s beaten them all. I don’t think it’s going to be uncomplicated,” Benavidez said of Haney’s win.

David went a little overboard with Devin’s praise because he certainly lost to Ryan Garcia. Many fans believe he was given the gift of deciding to fight Vasily Lomachenko in 2023, and he is by far the best fighter Haney has ever fought. He had considerable size and a youth advantage over Loma. It still wasn’t enough. The judges gave him an award, but it didn’t look like he won.
