Nontachai Jitmuangnon locked in for Kiamran Nabati at ONE Fight Night 46

Two fighters chasing the same World Title picture arrive from opposite ends of momentum.

Nontachai Jitmuangnon meets Kiamran Nabati in a pivotal bantamweight Muay Thai clash at ONE Fight Night 46 on Friday, August 14. The card airs live in U.S. primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 27-year-old Thai has quietly built the best stretch of his ONE Championship career. Exactly a year ago, he suffered a quick knockout loss to Abdulla Dayakaev. The setback could have derailed his rise.

Instead, Nontachai responded by returning to the win column against Soner Sen, then battering Semih Sah Cindir with three knockdowns before a third-round TKO. Most recently, he defeated former two-time World Title challenger Felipe Lobo by unanimous decision at ONE Fight Night 43.

That win proved he could handle a seasoned name under the primetime spotlight. A victory over Nabati would give Nontachai back-to-back wins over two of the division's most respected names.

Nontachai Jitmuangnon meets a former unbeaten contender

Standing across from Nontachai is one of the division's most dangerous strikers. Nabati arrived in ONE with a perfect 18-0 record and quickly proved his hype was real.

He picked up wins over Pongsiri PK Saenchai and Avatar PK Saenchai on the Friday Fights platform before knocking out Suablack Tor Pran49 in the first round to earn a six-figure contract. He then defeated former World Champion Nong-O Hama to cement his status as one of the division's most feared names.

This past May, Nabati finally met adversity, suffering a split-decision loss to Yod-IQ Or Pimolsri in the main event of The Inner Circle 15. Yod-IQ has since earned a World Title shot of his own, a fact that shows just how close Nabati had come to championship contention.

A statement win over Nontachai could move Nabati right back into that picture. On August 14, one of these two men will take a genuine step toward the World Title conversation.

Video: UFC 329: Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway 2 cold open

Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway 2 is one of the most highly anticipated fights of the year and their UFC 329 clash is just a day away.

For fans champing at the bit for even more hype, UFC CEO Dana White released the cold open for Saturday's welterweight main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, which caps off this year's International Fight Week.

McGregor, a former champion at 155 and 145 pounds, competes for the first time since July 2021, when he broke his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 264. It's been even longer since McGregor's last win, a January 2020 knockout over Donald Cerrone, but “Notorious†remains one of the biggest names in combat sports.

Also a former champion at 145 pounds, Holloway is coming off of a disappointing loss to Charles Oliveira this past March. Oliveira grounded Holloway for five rounds to hand Holloway a decision defeat and take his “BMF†belt.

The co-main event between Benoit Saint Denis and Paddy Pimblett is also featured in the UFC 329 cold open. Saint Denis is on a four-fight finishing streak, while Pimblett looks to rebound from his first UFC loss after dropping a competitive decision to now-lightweight champion Justin Gaethje in January.

Drake puts monster bet on Conor McGregor to beat Max Holloway at UFC 329

Drake puts monster bet on Conor McGregor to beat Max Holloway at UFC 329

Hip-hop star Drake is all in on Conor McGregor's UFC 329 comeback.

Drake, famous (some would say, infamous) for placing large wagers on sporting events via his online gambling partner Stake, is getting in on the action for Saturday's fight card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Unsurprisingly, he has action on the main event between McGregor and fellow former UFC champion Max Holloway.

How confident is Drake that McGregor will prevail? He's putting $1 million on McGregor at +285 odds.

Should McGregor win, Drake will see a return of $2,850,000.

Even coming off of a disappointing loss to Charles Oliveira, Holloway is understandably favored in his rematch with McGregor, who won their first meeting in August 2013. Holloway holds recent victories over Dustin Poirier and now-lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, while McGregor has not fought in five years. UFC 329 marks McGregor's first fight since breaking his leg in a loss to Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

Drake has become notorious for the “Drake Curse,†in which it's assumed the side he bets on in any sporting event will lose. He has put large wagers on UFC fights in the past, notably losing $200,000 when he picked Charles Oliveira to beat Ilia Topuria at UFC 317 (Topuria defeated Oliveira by knockout). This past December, Drake put a $200,000 wager on Jake Paul as an 8-to-1 underdog to defeat heavyweight star Anthony Joshua in a boxing match. A win would have earned Drake a $1,640,000 payout, but Joshua knocked Paul out in the sixth round of a mostly farcical contest.

Jose Aldo shares prediction for Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway 2 at UFC 329

Jose Aldo has shared his prediction for Saturday's UFC 329 main event between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway.

McGregor and Holloway are set to rematch on Saturday, and heading into the bout, the Irishman is a +180 underdog while the Hawaiian is a -225 favorite on FanDuel. Given that Aldo has fought both of them, he's familiar with both, and he expects Holloway to get his hand raised.

“To me, Max is the favorite,†Aldo said to Covers.com. “He's active and still building his career. I can't really judge Conor's level because I haven't seen him compete in a long time. I haven't seen him inside the octagon, and I haven't seen him training, so I don't know where he's at. I see Max fighting today, and he's been putting on great performances. Conor is a complete question mark, we'll find out on fight night.

“I'm not saying Max Holloway is a huge favorite. Not at all. But he has the edge because he's active, he's staying sharp, and I have no idea what Conor's performance will look like. That said, Conor could walk in there and knock him out. That can absolutely happen. And it wouldn't take anything away from Max if he got knocked out by Conor, because Conor has outstanding striking and excellent timing.â€

Jose Aldo is unsure what Conor McGregor looks like

Although Aldo believes Holloway deserves to be the favorite, he does think there are some major questions about Conor McGregor.

Aldo isn't sure how McGregor will look after five years away, which makes it so hard to predict the fight.

“Nobody really knows where he's at or what kind of performance he's going to deliver,†Aldo said about McGregor. “He could perform like a 10 out of 10, or like a five. We just don't know. He could get it done early, land some good shots and win the fight. Or maybe he can't find Max and starts thinking, ‘Damn, I'm in trouble,' and ends up fighting more cautiously. Nobody knows what his performance will look like.â€

Aldo lost his featherweight title to McGregor by KO in 13 seconds in 2015. He then re-lost the featherweight title to Holloway in 2017 and lost in an immediate rematch later that year, both by TKO.

Who do you think will win the UFC 329 main event between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway?
