Tim Bradley says Anthony Joshua is ‘mentally not there” at this slow stage in his career and it is not certain that he will win the fight against Jake Paul.
Tim points to his chin as he discusses the fall of former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua (28-4, 25 KO) ahead of his December 19 fight with Paul (12-1, 7 KO).
Bradley says it’s a “perilous fight” for 36-year-old Joshua, who was knocked out in his last fight against Daniel Dubois. He had no chance in this fight. Tim says Jake’s right hand strength and combinations will give AJ trouble. He sees Joshua as brittle, ready to fall apart when hit on the chin.
“It’s not a foregone conclusion that AJ can handle this shit, man,” Tim Bradley said in his canal about the Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul fight.“AJ was not in a good mental condition. AJ is an Olympic gold medalist and has fought better opponents. He has been in power for a long time. He has been at the top of the sport for a very long time.
“Yes, he’s down. It’s a perilous fight for both of these guys. It’s a 50-50 fight in my eyes. AJ [points to his chin]. Come on, man. I don’t know. “I’m not going to predict anything like that,” Bradley said.
As Tim says, Joshua has been in the professional ranks for a long time and soaking up shots from top fighters. His amateur career was also not uncomplicated. Fans witnessed his controversial 2012 Olympic gold medal win against Italian Roberto Cammarelle. A fight that many boxing fans believed Joshua should have lost. The Olympic Games this year were held in England.
“If Andy Ruiz can get in there with his little miniature tuby-tuby and then get in there and put his hands on Anthony Joshua, I think Jake Paul has a chance,” Tim said. “He’s a little quicker on his feet. He throws combinations and he’s got that loopy right hand that he likes to set up.”
Jake Paul is faster, more agile and more deadly than the 250-plus-pound Andy Ruiz when he knocked out Joshua in 2019. If Jake runs into Joshua, the fight could end in the first round.
“Anthony Joshua might get shipped. By Jake Paul? I don’t know. I take what I say seriously. It’ll be intriguing. If Jake Paul beats Anthony Joshua, he’ll get a nod in my book,” Bradley said.
