Riddick Bowe places Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield in order from best to worst

Even though he shared the ring only with Evander Holyfield, Riddick Bowe shared his opinion on what place “The Real Deal” would take in a conversation with Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson.

Bowe and Holyfield produced three spellbinding heavyweight performances between 1992 and 1995, with the former completing his enthralling trilogy as 2-1 winners.

Perhaps the most notable rematch, which Holyfield won by majority decision, was when the infamous “Fan Man” crashed in the ring during Bowe’s IBF and WBA world title fight.

Also in 1993, Tyson was serving a six-year prison sentence, which meant the timing of a clash between him and “Substantial Daddy” was never right, plus the two were childhood friends.

That same year, Bowe dropped his WBC title – refusing to face mandatory challenger Lewis – and instead fought Holyfield for a second time.

This trilogy with Holyfield was so fierce that Bowe ranked his former foe above Lewis and Tyson in an interview with Boxing News.

“[With] Holyfield, no matter what you do to him, no matter how you do it, he’ll be there.

“Lennox, I put him second because he’s the biggest of all of us – I think he’s proven to be tough.

“Mike, he [wasn’t as] tough as these guys [Holyfield and Lewis] – because they knocked him out. But in his prime he was a guy who knocked everyone out, so I put Mike in third place.

Many might be tempted to put Lewis at the top of a list that includes all three legends, especially since he really should have taken credit for the two-point victory over Holyfield.

Their first meeting took place in 1999 and ended in a highly controversial draw before Lewis announced a unanimous verdict in the head-to-head rematch.

Then, in 2002, “The Lion” secured an eighth-round overtime victory over Tyson, who at the time was thought to be long past his prime.

Still, most would probably consider Holyfield, who defeated Tyson twice in convincing fashion, and Lewis as the two flagship heavyweights of their era.
