British UFC veteran Brad Pickett In a recent interview with the Global Fight League “All Smoke & Mirrors” Grosvenor Sport.
GFL has met with great skepticism over the past few months, but last night he announced the inaugural weekend of events (May 24th-25th) in LA, which is very excited about fans.
Weighing the debate about the fresh concept, Pickett discussed:
- Challenges that GFL will try to repeat the success of the UFC
- Questions about the format of the league and teams and its long -term aspirations
- Reveals how the league contacted him and remained frustrated by them
“It’s all smoke and mirrors” UFC veteran says in the Global Fight League
We talked about some competing promotions and the monopoly that UFC has. What do you think about GFL that appeared out of nowhere? Did you contact this to get involved?
Brad Pickett: In a sense, it’s all smoke and mirrors until something happens. They signed all these warriors, I am surprised that they did not receive any insurance for any of these warriors, some of these guys are appropriate.
For me personally, you can’t just throw money on something and expect that it will be a success day by day. UFC was not built overnight; It took years of demanding work to build this brand. You can’t just buy a few fighters and expect to repeat the UFC model. It won’t work like that. It’s tough. This can probably happen, but you have to build something with time, they did nothing else, it was only MMA, but sold a little differently.
It’s the same, but it’s a bit more complicated. They try to sell these aspects of the band, trying to encourage people to support the team, I understand this, but there is not even one local warrior on the London card. What do they think? They try to sell this aspect of the team and can encourage wealthy people to buy and support these teams, but it doesn’t make much sense.
Did they ask you for commitment? Because when you look at the London team, there is Gustafsson, who is Swedish, Mousasi, who is Dutch, and everyone is in the London team.
Brad Pickett: I talked to several different people, not directly, but by others. I had some contact, but as I said, at the moment it’s all smoke and mirrors. Nothing really happens. I had several guys who were to be signed with them, and they live and train in London. They were just bypassed, which irritated me a bit.

In the breakthrough cooperation, the recognized director ZACK Snyder cooperates with UFC and his Excellency Turki Alalshikh, chairman of General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia to introduce the high -performance world of the Ultimate Fighting championship (UFC) on a huge screen with “Brawler”.
Dana White, CEO of UFC, expressed his enthusiasm to the project, emphasizing the common vision of Snyder and Alalshikh, to create a film that shows UFC in all its glory. White praised the ambitious nature of the project and passion, which both Alalshikh and Snyder bring to the table.
Snyder shared his thoughts about the project, saying: “Behind every great warrior lies an amazing story about how they got there.” He expressed his honor to cooperate with the UFC to tell the story that follows the journey of a man from Los Angeles when he floats through the ranks of UFC.
About the project
The film script will be written together by Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad. Snyder will produce a movie next to Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller under the banner of a stone quarry. Alalshikh, Johnstad and Hatten will act as executive producers, to which Craig Borsari, the Director of the UFC content.
When Snyder is working on “Brawler”, he also develops a feature film without a title in Netflix, which will focus on the Police Department in Los Angeles. Earlier, Snyder directed the Zombie action movie “Army of the Dead” and Science Fiction “Rebel Moon” for the streaming platform.
UFC growth
Since its inception in 1993, UFC has organized over 700 MMA events. In 2023, the company merged with a professional WWE wrestling organization to create a listed company under the symbol of the “TKO” campaign, supervised by the general director of Endeavour Ari Emanuel.
Dana White has been running the UFC since 2001, directing the development of the organization to the Vast Sports League. Under his leadership, UFC experienced exponential growth, with a significant raise in global recognition, revenues and viewership. White’s vision and strategic partnerships played a key role in the UFC transformation into an empire worth many billion dollars.
The raise in UFC to meaning can be attributed to White’s constant efforts to promote this sport, sign the best talents and create engaging stories. His leadership also led to the development of novel events, such as the very successful UFC Fight Night series. When the organization is still developing all over the world, White remains involved in presenting the best warriors in the world and providing fans with unparalleled watching.
Together with “Brawler” Snyder and UFC, they strive to capture the essence of sport and the inspiring history of his athletes. As the project progresses, fans can expect an electrifying and true performance of UFC and its fighters.

Melbourne, Australia -In his 10 professional fights so far the undefeated Irish perspective of the super medium medium weight Tommy “Governor” Hyde (10-0, 7 KO), currently preparing for his fight with April 11 in Australia, decided to fight only three times in his family Ireland, because he likes to travel.
25-year-old Hyde will face Anuara Mlawa (8-2, 4 KO) from Tanzania in an octa-like fight for “SLB Fight Night”, presented by Sam Labruny in Melbourne Pavilion. Hyde fans around the world will be able to watch his fight live http://streems.com.au/.
Before flying from the hometown of Cork in Ireland to Australia, Hyde gathered 47,064 both ways in the United States: Greater Boston, and once in Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, Connecticut, Redwood City, Kalifornia and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Add another 10,827 miles both ways to Cork to Melbourne and back, Hyde is really an Irish road warrior. And these almost 60,000 miles do not even include additional miles that traveled to many training camps in the United States and Great Britain.
Why fight in the middle of the world in Australia?
“I have many friends living in Australia and we knew that there was a huge Irish population,” Hyde explained. “So we decided to fight and build fans here. As an amateur, in places such as South Africa, Canada, America and Russia to mention only a few, but I never had the opportunity to fight in Australia. I am very much, for example.
Hyde competed in over 100 amateur matches. He was a 9-time national finalist, he reached the quarter-finals of World Junior Championships in 2015, he won the Hararingey Box Cup 2019 and is a 3-time gold medalist Celtic Box Cup.
“Wherever you are going in the world,” Hyde added, “you will find an Irish bar because the Irish people are everywhere. We support our own and do not matter where I am fighting, it seems to me that I receive brilliant support from local Irish people.
“I love traveling and I love to fight, so the possibility of making both during one journey is like hitting two birds with one stone. I get such a valuable fight experience around the world, and when I undertake on the world stage, I think that it made him stop well.”
Tommy’s father/manager, Gary Hyde, believes that his son’s experiences fighting all over the world will pay off in a not too distant future.
“I believe that fighting away from home will become Tommy when he fights in major fights,” said Gary. “He is not alien to great programs because he has participated in huge programs for nine years. The brighter the lights, the better it will work. He does not fight with the additional advantage of being in the main corner, which will also bring him benefits when he is in great fighting.”
Tommy Hyde is Irish Road Warrior!
