Xander Zayas says Jaron Ennis is not a great player

Zayas, the holder of the WBA and WBO 154-pound titles, appreciated Ennis’ abilities but did not rank him among the top names in the sport.

“He’s a good fighter,” Zayas told Ring magazine. “But I don’t think he’s a great fighter. I’ll do what I do on June 27 and come out victorious.”

The 23-year-old also pointed to what he believes has been a lack of adversity in Ennis’ career so far, suggesting that the Philadelphia player has yet to be tested in hard conditions.

“Everything. He never felt uncomfortable. He always stood his ground,” Zayas said. “He always had players who would fight a little bit and then give up.”

Zayas believes that will change when they meet, describing himself as a different type of opponent than those Ennis has faced before.

“When you have a newborn champion who is willing to risk everything to get in there, it’s scary,” he said. “He’s got me in front of him now and he’s going to have to adjust because he’s going to be really uncomfortable going into fight tonight.”

In addition to questioning Ennis’ resume, Zayas also highlighted the technical areas he plans to focus on in the fight.

“He eats every straight punch. He eats every hook,” Zayas said. “There are many things I can exploit.”

Zayas insisted the fight went off without a hitch, contrasting it with previous negotiations involving other contenders.

“It was an basic negotiation. We both wanted to fight. There are no what-ifs,” he said. “When both players want it, it’s basic to have a conversation.”

The fight between Zayas and Ennis will take place on June 27 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Jordan argued that the reality behind the proposed Joshua vs. Fury fight differs significantly from public statements, before explaining why he believed the event was already taking place outside the normal promotional structure.

“With all due respect, but first and foremost, the reasons why there is enough money to do this is, as we both know and have discussed many times, that both Tyson and Joshua have slightly different deals with their promoters than other fighters because they are not subject to a broadcasting obligation,” Simon said on talkSport Boxing.

“So when Tyson Fury does a deal, he doesn’t necessarily have to be on a broadcaster that Frank Warren or Eddie Hearn is contracted to.

“Where is this fight? Netflix, right?

“So with all due respect and I mean no disrespect to either Frank or Eddie, neither of them are promoting it.

“It’s a deal with Netflix that ultimately includes some of Turki Alalshikh’s money, so Dana is throwing her two pence into the ring.

“But Eddie promotes AJ and Frank promotes Tyson, so they must be involved.”

Jordan then suggested that White’s connection to Turki Alalshikh is the reason the UFC boss is publicly discussing the fight.

“Dana’s daddy will promote it, i.e. Turki Alalshikh” – said Simon.

Both Joshua and Fury are expected to return to the ring ahead of their scheduled showdown later this year, with Joshua scheduled to fight on July 25, with Fury also discussing a return fight.

Hrgovic strongly disagreed and mocked Allen’s approach to the fight while discussing his opponent.

“Yes, that’s his loser mentality. That’s what he achieved throughout his career. That’s why he suffered 10 defeats and I suffered one defeat,” Hrgovic told iFL TV.

“It’s just an underdog mentality. I just take the pressure off myself like, ‘I’m a Doncaster boy.’ I’m here to fight the good fight. I don’t have to win. It puts pressure on him.”

“You know, it’s a loser’s mentality. So OK, I’ll take the pressure. I have to win. I’m a winner.

“He always had this mentality. ‘I’m fat. I don’t train. I don’t need to win. I’m tiny’. Come on, man. Don’t make excuses your whole life. Just train, be professional and go for the win.

“I expect him to be the best version of himself because this is a huge opportunity for him and it’s his hometown. I expect him to be in good shape.

“I think I’m definitely a tougher fight for him than Zhang. Zhang is aged, aged.

“I can also be fat if I don’t train and if I drink beer. I can be fat and be a journeyman and come to every fight and just say, ‘I don’t have to win.’ I’m here to fight the good fight. “

“I think I’m better. I’m faster. I’m better in all aspects of the fight. But you know, it’s heavyweight boxing. Anything can happen and he’s a brave guy. He always comes forward and steps up to the fight. So I think it’ll be a good fight.”

Hrgovic comes into the fight after a tough recent run that has included physical fights with Daniel Dubois, Joe Joyce and David Adeleye. He defeated Joyce and Adeleye after losing to Dubois, with both victories coming after tough rounds and bulky rallies.

The fight will be the main event of Saturday’s heavyweight gala in Doncaster.
