The International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed that the weight classes of the first place of the boxing competition limit at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028 (La28) will be full parity between men and women.
This means that there will be seven weight classes for both men and women who will have an equal share in 248 places in the boxing competition (124 each).
The parity in weight classes means that an additional weight category was added to the competition of women from Paris 2024, where there were seven classes for men (125 places in limits) and six for women (124 places in the limit).
The message takes place after the decision of the 144th session of the IOC (March 20, 2025) in order to restore boxing to the Sports Program for La28, in which the path of competition and qualifications will be managed by World Boxing after it received the transient recognition by the IOC in February 2025.
