Image: Will Bivol Dodge Benavidez? Stevenson Says It is a Huge Fight, But Promoters May Block It

When WBO, IBF, IBO and WBC World Airy Heavyweight, Dmitry Bivol, will receive the respect he deserves?

In September, the ephemeral master of Super Wareter in WBO, Terenca “Bud” Crawford, defeated IBF, WBO and WBC Super Middle Wweight, Saula “Canelo” Alvarez, 63-2-2-2 and is considered a pound as the best pound for some. The same Alvarez, 57-1-2, was defeated by Bivol in May 2022, and then Bivol defeated Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, 44-0, in November.

In 2023, Bivol defeated Ibo Lyndon champion “King Arthur” Arthur, 23-1. In 2024, he defeated Malik Zinada, 22-0. Later the same year, he lost for the first time in union to Artur Beterbaver, 20-0, according to the majority. In February 2025 he won the rematch, defeating Beterbaview. Until now, he tried to fight Beterbieal. Perhaps two opponents, such as the heavyweight champion, WBC David Benavidez, 33-0, now, saying that he will not return to a super medium weight, will be next.

He had 268-15 in amateur ranks, fighting for his last four fights in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Born in Tokmak, Kyrgyzstan, in 1990 and living in Indio, California, when he gets the respect he deserves?

Another is WBC, WBO, IBF and IBO Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Utyk, 24-0 with 15 detention. The former weight master in the circuitous weight has no respect.

“175 for Bivol. He has been there for a long time. Now with back surgery I don’t think he wants to risk. I think it will make it hard for him,” said coach Jose Benavidez Sr. Sports media YSM About his belief that Bivol will go to the circuitous weight.

“I think he feels comfortable in a cruiser’s weight, or maybe he is doing something else. He has a height and is mighty. It may be because of surgery. He wants to heal well and not force his body to lose all the weight,” said Benavidez Sr. About Bivol.

Floyd Schofield Jr. vs. Lucas Bahdi: Live Results and Highlights Update

Cruiserweight Tristan Kalkreuth handed Ivan Rosado his first professional loss in dominant fashion, ending things just 44 seconds into the third round.

From the opening bell of the scheduled ten-rounder, Kalkreuth used his superior height and reach to keep Rosado on the back foot. Rosado never found room to mount an offense as Kalkreuth poured on the pressure, eventually burying his shorter opponent under a heavy offensive barrage.

While Rosado stayed on his feet, he could no longer offer enough defense to satisfy the referee, who stepped in to rescue him and seal a complete blowout victory for the cruiserweight prospect.

Joshua Edwards (8-0, 7 KOs) beat Craig Lewis (15-10-1, 8 KOs) by stoppage when the veteran could not continue at the start of round three in their heavyweight clash. Edwards dictated the action before hurting Lewis with a combination near the end of the second.

Lewis’s injury prevented him from continuing, ending the scheduled eight-round contest after two completed rounds. The 42-year-old Lewis offered little to disrupt the younger fighter’s control. Edwards, a 2024 U.S. Olympian, collected another early finish as he continued his professional run.

Light middleweight Grant Flores (14-0, 10 KOs) stopped Mikey Dahlman (19-3, 17 KOs) in round two of their scheduled eight-round fight. Flores applied pressure early, using his size and power to dictate the action.

A heavy left hook to the liver left Dahlman hurt in the second. Flores immediately followed with a sustained attack, giving Dahlman little opportunity to recover. The referee intervened as the punches continued, ending the fight with Dahlman unable to contain Flores’ assault.

Minimumweight Naomy Valle (16-1, 9 KOs) beat Sheyla Moreno Castillo (5-2-1) by unanimous decision after eight rounds in her professional U.S. debut. The scores were 78-73, 78-72, and 77-74. Valle established her lead with accurate jabs and right hands, including a right in the third that hurt Moreno.

Moreno continued pressing forward and made the closing rounds scrappy, while Valle drew repeated warnings for holding. A point deduction in the eighth failed to undo Valle’s earlier work, leaving her a clear winner on all three cards.

Undercard Results

Heavyweight Joshua Edwards (8-0, 7 KOs) stopped Craig Lewis (15-10-1, 8 KOs) at the start of the third round of their scheduled eight-round bout. The 2024 U.S. Olympian controlled the action against the 42-year-old veteran, forcing him onto the defensive.

Edwards landed a combination late in the second round that hurt Lewis and brought the fight toward its finish. Lewis could not continue because of an injury, prompting the stoppage at the beginning of round three. The injury’s exact nature was not specified in the early ringside account. Edwards needed just two completed rounds to register his seventh stoppage victory.

Grant Flores (14-0, 10 KOs) stopped Mikey Dahlman (19-3, 17 KOs) in the second round of their scheduled eight-round light middleweight bout. Flores controlled the action with his size and punching power, putting the veteran under pressure early.

A hard left hook to the liver hurt Dahlman badly in round two and opened the door for the finish. Flores followed with a sustained attack as Dahlman struggled to recover from the body shot. With Dahlman unable to halt the assault, the referee stepped in to stop the fight. The 21-year-old Flores needed fewer than two rounds to secure his tenth knockout.

Minimumweight Naomy Valle (16-1, 9 KOs) defeated Sheyla Moreno Castillo (5-2-1) by unanimous decision over eight rounds in her professional U.S. debut. The judges scored it 78-73, 78-72, and 77-74 for Valle. Valle controlled most of the early action with her jab and right hand, landing the cleaner punches as Moreno pressed forward.

A right hand in the third round hurt Moreno, but the Mexican fighter kept coming and made Valle work throughout. The final two rounds became scrappier, with Valle losing a point in the eighth for excessive holding after repeated warnings. The deduction came too late to threaten Valle’s lead, which she had built through her more accurate punching over the first six rounds.

The undercard features Ricardo Sandoval against Sergio Mendoza, Jahmal Harvey against Pedro Castaneda and Jan Paul Rivera against Abraham Perfecto Valdez.

Vergil Ortiz Jr. Focuses on Fight Frequency Over Opponent Quality

"Vergil Ortiz Jr. Focuses on Fight Frequency Over Opponent Quality"

Robert Garcia wants Vergil Ortiz Jr. back in the ring, even if that means accepting an opponent who does little to satisfy fans waiting for the Jaron Ennis fight.

Keith Thurman is the likely opponent for Ortiz’s proposed December 5 return on the David Benavidez card. Talks appear promising, though the fight has yet to be finalized. Ortiz is scheduled to begin training camp next week.

“I don’t care whatever people say. I just need Vergil back in,” Garcia said. “He’s been out for a year. … It’s going to be 13 months basically. So, that’s too much.”

That explains the willingness to take Thurman. Garcia’s priority is getting Ortiz through a training camp and into a fight. Looking for someone who offers more prestige could bring another delay, leaving Vergil inactive into next year.

Thurman would give Ortiz a recognizable opponent, but beating him would leave the bigger questions unanswered. Fans want to see Vergil against the strongest fighters around his weight. A return bout can restore activity without delivering that test.

Garcia accepts the criticism. He believes the cost of waiting has become greater than the benefit of holding out for a better opponent.

“If we try to switch up, find somebody else or maybe a bigger fight, a fight that means a little bit more, then it might take longer,” he said.

The same frustration is behind the team’s decision to campaign at 160 pounds. Garcia expects Ennis to pursue Josh Kelly and then potentially Sebastian Fundora, a sequence he believes could leave Ortiz waiting another year.

He understands Ennis’s interest in unification, while maintaining that Vergil would present a harder fight. Ortiz’s team is choosing to move forward rather than keep cutting to 154 for an opportunity Garcia cannot count on.

Getting Ortiz active is a reasonable immediate goal. After that, the urgency needs to extend to finding stronger opposition. Thurman can end the layoff; he cannot replace the fights that made fans eager to see Vergil return.
