Uros Medic turns attention to Leon Edwards following 30-second win at UFC Belgrade: "I'm not going to bully him anymore"

Uros Medic wants to dance with a former UFC welterweight titleholder following a quick win at home.

Medic went one-on-one with Daniel Rodriguez in the UFC Belgrade main event this past Saturday. It only took Medic 30 seconds to put a halt to “D-Rod's†three-fight winning streak via TKO. It was Rodriguez's first fight since being released from prison back in April.

Speaking to media members during the UFC Belgrade post-fight press conference, Medic said he is now targeting Edwards for a showdown inside the Octagon. If Medic can't get the fight, it won't take him long to turn his focus elsewhere (via MMAJunkie).

“Leon Edwards next, probably,†Medic said. “Leon Edwards if he makes himself available. I'm not going to bully him anymore. If he doesn't want to fight, we fight someone else. It's not a big deal.â€

Edwards has been on a slide as of late, losing three fights in a row. His most recent loss was a brutal knockout at the hands of Carlos Prates back in Nov. 2025. Edwards hasn't emerged victorious since late 2023.

If “Rocky†isn't available for Medic anytime soon, then the surging Serbian would like to clash with a prominent name in the 170-pound rankings.

“He is ranked where I want to be ranked, so that puts me closer to where I want to be, and that's with the belt around my waist,†Medic said.

Medic will receive a boost when the Meta UFC rankings panel is updated. He held the No. 14 spot prior to UFC Belgrade, while Rodriguez was one position ahead of him. As far as the media panel rankings are concerned, Medic was actually ahead of “D-Rod.â€

Who would you match Uros Medic up against next? Do you give him a top 10 opponent, or would you go even higher up the welterweight ladder? Show off your matchmaking skills in the comments below.

UFC Sacramento: 'Hernandez vs. Rodrigues' Live Results and Highlights

The Octagon returns to the Golden 1 Center for tonight's UFC Sacramento event, a 13-bout fight card headlined by Anthony Hernandez vs. Gregory Rodrigues.

Hernandez (15-3 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since suffering a third-round TKO loss to reigning middleweight champion Sean Strickland this past February. Prior to that setback, ‘Fluffy' has strung together an impressive eight-fight winning streak, a stretch which included victories over Michel Pereira, Roman Dolidze and Brendan Allen.

Meanwhile, Gregory Rodrigues (19-6 MMA) will enter tonight's headliner sporting a three-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory coming by way of knockout over Brunno Ferreira this past March at UFC 326. ‘Robocop' has gone 4-1 over his past five Octagon appearances overall, with his lone loss in that stretch coming against Jared Cannonier.

UFC Sacramento is co-headlined by a heavyweight contest featuring Serghei Spivac taking on Vitor Petrino.

Spivac (18-6 MMA) was most previously seen in action this past February at UFC Houston, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Ante Delija. That win snapped a two-fight losing skid for the ‘Polar Bear', who had dropped fights to Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Jailton Almeida in his prior Octagon appearances.

Meanwhile, Vitor Petrino (14-2 MMA) will enter this evening's co-main attraction sporting a three-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory coming over Steven Asplund this past March in Las Vegas. Prior to that decision win, ‘Cabuloso' was coming off back-to-back stoppage victories against opponents Austen Lane and Thomas Petersen respectively.

Also featured on this evening's UFC Sacramento main card lineup is a highly anticipated light heavyweight bout featuring Reinier de Ridder taking on Roman Dolidze.

De Ridder (21-4 MMA) will enter the contest with hopes of snapping a two-fight losing skid. ‘RDR' is coming off losses to Caio Borralho and Brendan Allen in his most recent Octagon appearances. Prio to those setbacks, the former ONE champion had put together a five-fight winning streak, which included victories over Bo Nickal and Robert Whittaker.

Meanwhile, Roman Dolidze (15-5 MMA) will also be looking to snap a two-bout losing skid this evening in California. ‘The Caucasian' is coming off defeats to tonight's headliners Anthony Hernandez and Gregory Rodrigues in his most recent efforts. Prior those setbacks, Dolidze had won three straight fights over Anthony Smith, Kevin Holland and Marvin Vettori respectively.

Is Cris Cyborg Retiring at PFL Tampa? BKB 58's Aspen Ladd wonders

Is Cris Cyborg Retiring at PFL Tampa? BKB 58's Aspen Ladd wonders

Cris Cyborg is being advertised for this weekend as taking part in her final MMA fight, but an ex-UFC and PFL vet has their doubts. The referenced fighter here is Aspen Ladd, who takes on Bianca Daimoni at BKB 58 on August 29th in Miami, Florida.

Cris Cyborg was slated to defend her PFL featherweight crown versus Ketlen Vieira until the latter came in seven pounds over the 145-pound contracted weight limit at PFL Tampa. As someone who has thrown down in featherweight fights for promotions like UFC and PFL, the BKB combatant weighed in on Cyborg vs. Vieira in the context of if the former will bow out of the sport on August 22nd, Ladd said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],

“Yeah, [Cris] Cyborg's an absolute legend of the sport, but she's been teasing for a long time that this would be her last MMA fight. Will it be? Who knows? But she's said that for quite a while and they had to find somebody to bring over for her to fight.â€

“She was the only one left, the only '45er in the entire promotion under contract, right? So, they had to find somebody. Ketlen's about as good an opponent as they can get. I think it's very possible it can go to a decision honestly, but I don't know. Cyborg's so explosive.â€

Cris Cyborg not likely to get Shields or Rousey bouts, per Ladd

Whether or not this is her last MMA bout, Cyborg has also expressed interest in continuing to build upon her boxing journey, and to that, Ladd stated [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],

“No, she keeps calling out [Claressa] Shields over and over because I know they've sparred before. I highly doubt it'll ever happen, but you never know. It's the same as like the Ronda [Rousey] fight. That's never going to happen, but who knows?â€
