UFC Belgrade live blog: Uros Medic vs. Daniel Rodriguez

This is the live blog for Uros Medic vs. Daniel Rodriguez, the welterweight main event for Saturday's UFC Belgrade card at Belgrade Arena in Belgrade, Serbia.

Medic—currently No. 15 at 170 pounds in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings—is on a hot streak, with three first-round knockouts in his past three fights. The Serbian star has one mission and one mission only, to go for the finish or leave on his shield. In 16 pro bouts, Medic (13-3) has never gone to the scorecards. Following his recent win over Geoff Neal, Medic called for the UFC to bring an event to his country and now that his wish has been granted, the pressure is on him to deliver.

On the other side, Rodriguez (20-5) looks to get back on track after his career was recently derailed by an eight-month stint in a Mexican prison. Rodriguez is also on a three-fight win streak, having knocked off veterans Kevin Holland, Santiago Ponzinibbio, and Alex Morono, and now has to play the spoiler in front of a hostile crowd.

UFC Belgrade has mostly been a fun show, but the heavyweight bought really brought the energy down. Fortunately, Navajo Stirling picked things back up, and there's almost no way this fight isn't fun.

Jason Herzog is the ref. There are 3 judges but I will be SHOCKED if they're needed.

Bruce Buffer gets things going and he's milking it a bit. But that's his thing, and the crowd is here for it.

We took our time with these walkouts. Rodriguez had a long walk to the arena, where he was loudly booed. Of course. And Medic's walkout was also long but fun as this arena seems very lively. Huge moment for him.

Medic is 6 years younger, but gives up 3 inches of reach. He is the favorite at -400 though, with Rodriguez at +310.

Buffer gets things going and this crowd is lively. Let's have fun!

Medic leads with a leg kick. Rodriguez does the same and it catches Medic in between, dropping him.

OHHHHHHHH! Rodriguez bounces forward and Medic explodes with a huge hook! Sends Rodriguez crashing to the canvas! Jumps on top and brings the thunder and this is over in seconds!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man, we've got soccer hooligan energy in this crowd with a man blazing some flares in the stands! Biggest moment of Medic's life and he delivered in the biggest way.

And the crowd is chanting his name. This is awesome.

Medic is on the verge of big emotions in his post-fight interview. The crowd is still chanting his name and he's clearly moved by it. He speaks to them before translating himself, saying it's been a really rough couple of weeks and that he didn't feel like he was home, even though he was on home soil. It's been nearly a decade since he's been in Serbia.

Then he gives a speech about leaving home when he was 22 and how he got here.

“I have so many words, I don't think we have enough time tonight. With that being said, I'm going to cook the rest of this division. With you guys by my side, we're going to bring the belt to Serbia.â€

Medic then says he's like to fight Carlos Prates, but knows he way ahead of him. Then calls out Leon Edwards, before sending us home.

UFC champ Justin Gaethje stumps for Trump at GOP midterm convention
Justin
Gaethje is campaigning for the Republican Party in the upcoming
United States midterm elections.

Gaethje recently took to the podium at the 2026 Republican Midterm
Convention in Dallas. The
Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight titleholder strongly
supported Donald Trump, emphasizing the importance of voting.

He urged Republican supporters to vote with the same fervor as they
did in the 2024 presidential election. Gaethje also believes
President Trump and the Republican Party want the best for
everyone, even their political competitors.

“In fighting, your last fight is how people remember you, but your
next fight is the only one that matters,†Gaethje said. “Everybody
has to understand how important these elections are and we have to
get out and vote. One mistake I’ve made in my career was becoming
complacent while I was on a winning streak and forgetting how
unforgiving my sport can be. If we are not just as passionate about
voting and winning in these midterms as we were in the last
presidential election, then we risk getting knocked out and losing
all the momentum we have been fighting for. Everything we want for
the future of America is at stake. I want to live under a
conservative form of government in a free and capitalist society.
And I truly believe President Trump wants the best for every
American, no matter the political side of the aisle they fall
on.â€

Apart from Gaethje, Bo Nickal
(9-1) also spoke at the convention. Nickal thanked Trump for his
constant support and the opportunity to compete at
UFC Freedom 250 at the White House this past June.

Trump is a close friend of UFC CEO Dana
White and has also had the support of several UFC stars
previously. Colby
Covington, Jorge
Masvidal and Henry
Cejudo, among others, have previously taken to the stage to
publicly back Trump.

Zabit Magomedsharipov’s undefeated brother gets biggest test yet at PFL Dubai
The
Professional Fighters League's next Dubai card is taking
shape.

The event, scheduled for Nov. 14 at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, will
be headlined by a heavyweight title clash between Vadim
Nemkov and Sergey
Bilostenniy. Two more bouts have now been added to the card,
featuring a former Bellator
MMA champ and the brother of a former
Ultimate Fighting Championship star.

Khasan Magomedsharipov faces Adam Borics on Nov. 14 PFL Dubai
card

Sergio
Pettis (25-8) is set to take on Joji Goto
(20-9) in a bantamweight tilt at
PFL Dubai. Pettis is coming off a decision loss to Mitchell
McKee this past April, which snapped a two-fight winning
streak. Meanwhile, Goto, who makes his PFL debut, is coming off a
first-round submission win over Azizbek
Temirov.

Khasan
Magomedsharipov (11-0) will look to maintain his perfect record
when he takes on Adam Borics
(20-4) in a featherweight matchup at PFL Dubai. Khasan is the
brother of former UFC standout Zabit
Magomedsharipov and often displays a similarly well-rounded
skill set.

A flyweight
title fight headlines PFL Chicago: Tune in on Saturday, Oct. 16 at
11 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Khasan has finished eight of his 11 career wins so far and is
coming off a first-round submission win over Joshua
Weems. Meanwhile, Borics has dropped two of his last three and
comes off a decision loss against A.J. McKee.
The Hungarian is a wily veteran with a ton of experience and likely
to be Magomedsharipov's toughest test so far.

Video: Dana White separates Ryan Garcia, Conor Benn after heated faceoff

Dana White wasn't taking any chances with Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn.

After a press conference that featured Garcia and Benn going back-and-forth, White faced the two rivals off in Las Vegas for fans and media in attendance. Garcia planned to make an egg a part of the faceoff, but security intervened prior to the two fighters getting face-to-face, with Garcia even hilariously saying, “You caught me.â€

Without any eggs or extra props, Garcia and Benn had a heated faceoff, with Garcia talking a lot of trash, and Benn making a shushing motion before White admittedly had enough and got in between the two fighters.

Garcia and Benn battle for the WBC welterweight title, and the story of the fight week continued on during the press conference with Benn's giant weight cut to get to 147 pounds. Benn says he'll confidently make weight and “look great†doing it, while Garcia kept saying Benn isn't even at 150 pounds.
