UFC 330 weigh-in results: 2 title fights set, including Islam Makhachev vs. Ian Machado Garry

Islam Makhachev is ready to make history.

The welterweight champion successfully made weight for the first title defense of his second belt, coming in at 170 pounds at Friday's official weigh-ins for the main event of UFC 330 in Philadelphia. Opponent Ian Machado Garry also hit the mark at 170, making their title fight official.

Not only can Makhachev join the short list of fighters (Henry Cejudo, Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones, Amanda Nunes) to successfully defend UFC titles in two division, a 17th straight victory for the former lightweight champion will also break the legendary Anderson Silva's record for the most consecutive wins in UFC history.

Backup Michael Morales also successfully made weight at 170 pounds. Morales is available to step in for Makhachev or Garry in the event that they are unable to compete Saturday.

The UFC 330 co-main event also has gold on the line with Mackenzie Dern defending the strawweight title for the first time against Gillian Robertson. Both fighters hit championship weight at 115 pounds.

All 24 fighters weighing in for Saturday's event at Xfinity Mobile Arena successfully made weight, with only Chidi Njokuani having a close call on the scale. Njokuani initially weighed in at 171.5 pounds, 0.5 pounds over the welterweight limit, but it wasn't long before he returned for a second attempt behind a curtain and made 171 (utilizing the one-pound allowance for a non-title fight).

Fury appears to have run out of patience with the long-running
saga involving Anthony
Joshua.

Fury and Joshua have spent months trying to finalize their highly
anticipated heavyweight matchup, but negotiations have stalled over
the location. Fury’s side has pushed for the fight to take place in
the United States, while Joshua and Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn
have favored England.

Fury took to Instagram and claimed that Joshua is the primary
roadblock for the fight coming to fruition.

“The facts are you don't want to fight,†Fury said in an Instagram
video. “Because if you did, you'd be ready to rock and roll like I
am. Tyson Fury has already said 1,000 times will fight anywhere, no
problem at all. Turki Alalshikh has paid you tens of millions to
fight and you're still acting like little b*tches. It is what it
is. There's nothing I can do. I can't make a coward fight, can
I?â€

Fury directed more criticism towards Joshua for not overruling
Hearn's stance regarding the location. He then revealed that he's
now looking for other matchups.

“If A.J. was any sort of man, he'd overrule the sausage [Eddie
Hearn] and he'd stand up and fight, but obviously he's not,†Fury
added. “One thing for sure is I won't wait for a sausage who's been
knocked spark out by Daniel Dubois. I've waited 10 years for this;
I've been ready every time. Every single time. But one thing I
won't be doing is wasting my later years at 38 years old with a
freak who doesn't want to fight. So, I will move on… There are
plenty of world champions out there who do want to fight, who do
want to make some money, so I'll be giving them a knock. This is
going nowhere. As always, 10 years later, still in the same boat.

Dana White says fans will 'lose their minds' for UFC Hawaii
Hawaii is a targeted future destination for the
Ultimate Fighting Championship.

During his recent appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,†UFC CEO
Dana
White was asked where he'd like to stage an event the promotion
has never visited previously. Hawaii immediately came to mind,
although he explained that infrastructure has prevented the
promotion from staging an event there, but a new arena is
apparently in the works.

long-awaited debut

According to White, the state’s existing infrastructure has been
the biggest obstacle to staging an event. However, with a new arena
targeted for 2028-29, taking the promotion to the island state is a
priority.

“One of our biggest markets since day one has been Hawaii, and
we've still never put on an event in Hawaii,†White said. “We've
had multiple world champions from Hawaii. The infrastructure there
can't support a UFC event. But now they're building a new arena
there. Supposed to be done in [2028, 2029].â€

White believes Hawaii would be a particularly attractive
destination for both fans and the UFC’s staff.

“I like destinations where people want to go,†White added. “When
we do UFC Hawaii, people will lose their minds. Who doesn't want to
go to UFC Hawaii? So, off the top of my head, you’re firing that at
me… When I think about UFC Hawaii, that will be a fun one.â€

Jason Jackson says UFC doesn't want him disrupting Islam Makhachev's division

Jackson believes he can disrupt the
Ultimate Fighting Championship's welterweight division and
upset the reigning champ.

Jackson recently called for a UFC signing while making a bold
claim. The former Bellator
welterweight champion believes he can defeat UFC welterweight king
Islam
Makhachev. Furthermore, the 35-year-old says the premier
promotion doesn't want him on the roster, considering his age.

Makhachev faced one of the toughest tests of his career while
successfully defending his welterweight title against Ian Garry at
UFC
330. Jackson claims he had his way with Garry in training and
never struggled against the Irishman.

Jackson also handed Yaroslav
Amosov his lone career loss. According to the Jamaican, Amosov,
who has finished both of his UFC wins so far, is a better fighter
than Makhachev. He believes the UFC isn't offering him a contract
as they fear that he would turn the division on its head.

“I want to go to the UFC. I'm not even gonna beat around the bush
because I feel like I could beat Makhachev,†Jackson said in an X
post. “And the reason why I said that is that he struggled with
Ian. And no disrespect to Ian, I done put Ian down in the gym. I
don't struggle with him. And from what I did to Yaroslav, I think
he is better than Makhachev. If I get into the UFC, I feel like
that's one that the UFC don't want, is a guy my age coming from a
different promotion, going there and just disrupting their whole
pecking order. I feel like that's why they are holding out on me
getting in there.â€

Jackson (20-6) is 2-2 in his last four outings and most recently
scored a 20-second knockout win at
Most Valuable Promotions' inaugural mixed martial arts event
this past May.
