UFC 329 video: King Green survives early onslaught, rallies back to finish Terrance McKinney in first round
Published
8 hours agoon
After spending much of the opening round with McKinney on top, raining down shots on him, Green survived before getting back to his feet where he unleashed a barrage of shots including a stiff kick to the body. The punishment finally mounted with McKinney falling to the canvas where Green continued delivering punches until referee Kerry Hatley saw enough to stop the contest at 4:59 in the opening round.
“I was just getting warmed up,†Green said about his performance. “I know he's tough, when he's fresh and first comes out. It's only going to be a matter of time before I catch up to him. I feel great.
“I want to fight in the LA. card in September. I'm going to keep doing this stuff all year long.â€
As expected, McKinney came out firing right away and he clipped Green with a punch that opened up a cut on the head. Green tried to counter with some quick kicks but McKinney was just head hunting, gunning for the knockout.
McKinney hammered Green with a nasty uppercut and then going to the body with a hard shot as well. Green's face was covered in blood with McKinney just marching forward with hard, heavy punches. A split second later, McKinney swooped inside and grabbed a quick takedown to put Green on his mat against the cage.
McKinney wasted no time moving into the mount as he began raining down punches in succession before briefly looking for a rear-naked choke. Another submission attempt from McKinney allowed Green to finally escape a really bad position on the ground as time ticked away in the opening round.
Back on his feet, Green found an opening with a devastating kick to the body with a punch behind it and McKinney eventually crumbled to the canvas. Green continued his assault with several hard punches and just before time ran out, the referee stepped in to rescue McKinney from further harm.
It was a stunning performance from Green to weather that early storm and then comeback to provide another incredible finish to add McKinney to his ever growing resume while also stacking up his fourth win in a row overall.

Gandra's preparation for his second outing in the
Ultimate Fighting Championship made his 6'3†opponent seem
“small.â€
Gandra (10-1) took on Zachary
Reese in a middleweight bout at
UFC 329 in Las Vegas. The Brazilian took a little over a minute
to drop Reese with a massive left hand. He landed a few follow-up
shots before referee Mike Beltran stepped in, albeit the stoppage
was arguably slightly early amidst protests from Reese.

Gandra says he had prepared so hard that his nearly flawless
victory felt automatic. “Problema†also claims to have studied
Reese so well that the 6'3†American felt small despite being
taller than him by two inches.
“It felt automatic. We did so much work. We studied him. We got
ready for this fight as if it was only thing to worry about in the
world,†Gandra said in a post-fight interview. “I felt him small. I
know he is a huge guy, but I felt him small. Why? Because it felt
automatic. Because I knew him so well and I was ready for it. I
know that he is a big guy, but he felt smaller. That's the fruit of
a lot of work, a lot of study, and a job well done.â€
Gandra has finished 8 of his 10 career wins and ended both of his
UFC fights inside the first round, with a combined Octagon time of
less than two minutes. Meanwhile, Reese is now on a two-fight slump
and is 4-4 in the UFC since making his promotional debut in
2023.
