UFC 330 video: Jalin Turner lays waste to Kaue Fernandes in just 39 seconds

Jalin Turner is not getting paid by the hour because he needed just 39 seconds to lay waste to Kaue Fernandes at UFC 330 on Saturday.
After a brief retirement, Turner has returned to action with a renewed purpose and he showed that he's still one of the top lightweights in the world with his latest performance.
The fight ended after Fernandes threw an ill-advised spinning back fist and Turner quickly countered with a punch of his own followed by an uppercut that blasted the Brazilian and sent him down to the canvas. Turner continued unloading shots until referee Jason Herzog saw enough as Fernandes fell unconscious with the fight being stopped at 39 seconds into the opening round.
Turner has now won two fights in a row — both by knockout — and he's looking to get back into the lightweight top 15 now that he's sticking around.
“I would like to see a number next to my name again,†Turner said after his win. “I'd like to see it again.â€
Turner has always been a tough out for anybody in the lightweight division but in the past his grappling has fallen short in some of his bigger matchups. But on the feet, Turner is just as lethal as anybody at 155 pounds and he's continued to show that since returning from retirement.
This is the UFC 330 live blog for Jalin Turner vs. Kaue Fernandes, the main card lightweight bout Saturday at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
After briefly retiring in 2025, Turner (15-9) returned to competition this past December with a fast first-round knockout of fan favorite Edson Barboza. It was the 11th career knockout for Turner, who has never won a fight via decision. At 6-foot-3, “The Tarantula†is one of the most imposing figures in the 155-pound division and he looks to string together consecutive victories for the first time since a five-fight win streak in 2022.
Fernandes (11-2) is one to watch at lightweight, having won three straight fights and five of his past six. He's collected a variety of kick finishes during this run, with a leg kick TKO over Harry Hardwick, and head kick and body kick knockouts that closed out his time with Legacy Fighting Alliance. Turner marks the biggest challenge of his young UFC career.
Check out the UFC 330 live blog for Jalin Turner vs. Kaue Fernandes below.
This bout was added to the main card just this week and it's a welcome addition. Jalin Turner is one of the most reliable fight finishers in the UFC and it's going to be fun (for us, anyway) watching Fernandes attempt to chop down the towering lightweight.
It's been a wild night for bettors, I imagine. Very glad I sat this one out.
We've got ourselves a toss-up here, with Turner a slight favorite at -122, and Fernandes the underdog at +104 per FanDuel.
Fernandes immediately opens up with a high kick that Turner has scouted. This could come down to one good shot and you get the sense both fighters know it. Fernandes whiffs on a spin kick and Turner counters with a left hand on the money. Turner has him badly rocked and he doesn't hesitate, punches in bunches to knock Fernandes out cold. Well, he knocked him out and brought him back a couple of times, it looks like. Brutal and fast finish.
Official result: Jalin Turner def. Kaue Fernandes via KO (punches) (R1, 0:39)
Asked who he wants to fight next, Turner just wants to fight someone who helps him get a number next to his name. He's been ranked before and seems to believe he's ready to make an earnest run to the top this time.

The Octagon returns to Philadelphia for tonight's UFC 330 event, a 12-bout fight card headlined by Islam Makhachev vs. Ian Machado Garry.
Makhachev (28-1 MMA) will be looking to earn his first career welterweight title defense this evening at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The Russian star captured the promotion‘s coveted 170lbs title this past November at UFC 322, where he earned a dominant unanimous decision win over Jack Della Maddalena. Islam will enter this evening's contest sporting a 16-fight winning streak, which includes recent triumphs over Renato Moicano, Dustin Poirier and Alex Volkanovski.
Meanwhile, Ian Machado Garry (17-1 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since scoring a unanimous decision victory over former division champion Belal Muhammad this past November in Qatar. Prior to that triumph, ‘The Future' was coming off an impressive win over Carlos Prates.
UFC 330 is co-headlined by a women's strawweight title fight featuring Mackenzie Dern taking on Gillian Robertson.
(via Zuffa LLC)
Dern (16-5 MMA) will be competing for the first time since capturing the promotion's then vacant strawweight world title this past October at UFC 321. The jiu-jitsu ace has won her last three Octagon appearances, which includes a submission victory over Amanda Ribas (see that here).
Meanwhile, Gillian Robertson (17-8 MMA) will enter her first career UFC title fight sporting a five-fight winning streak. ‘The Savage‘ was most previously seen in action this past March, where she scored a unanimous decision win over Amanda Lemos. Prior to that triumph, the Canadian standout was coming off a second-round TKO victory over Marina Rodriguez.
Also featured on tonight's UFC 330 main card lineup is a lightweight contest between Jalin Turner and Kauê Fernandes.
Turner (15-9 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since earning a first-round TKO victory over Edson Barboza this past December at UFC 323. That triumph snapped a two-fight losing skid for ‘The Tarantula', who had previously suffered stoppage losses to Renato Moicano and Ignacio Bahamondes respectively.
Meanwhile, Kauê Fernandes (11-2 MMA) will enter this evening's contest on a three-fight winning streak, with his latest victory coming by way of first-round TKO this past September against Harry Hardwick. The Brazilian has gone 3-1 since joining the UFC ranks in November of 2023.
If that wasn't enough to get you interested the first fight of the main card is a lightweight bout between Edson Barboza and Esteban Ribovics.
Barboza (24-14 MMA) will be looking to snap a three-fight losing skid when he takes to the Octagon this evening. The 40-year-old veteran has suffered losses to Jalin Turner, Drakkar Klose and Lerone Murphy in his most recent efforts. Edson's most recent victory occurred in October of 2023, where he outpointed Sodiq Yusuff in a ‘FOTN' affair.
Meanwhile, Esteban Ribovics (15-3 MMA) was most previously seen in action this past April, where he suffered a submission loss to Mateusz Gamrot. Prior to that setback, ‘El Gringo' was coming off a unanimous decision victory over Elves Brener.
