The 37 -year -old Mexican boxer discovered a dead in the hotel room a few hours after losing the fight

Mexican boxer Pedro Antonio “Tony” Rodriguez died tragically at the age of 37 after discovering in his hotel room on Sunday morning. Super-Bantamweight Fighter suffered a failure on Saturday evening.

Born in Durango, Mexico, Rodriguez took part in Phoenix, Arizona at the weekend at the American Royal Palace. The fight, named “Brawl in the Barrio”, was sanctioned by the Arizona Boxing and MMA commission and coordinated by Del Sol Boxing Promotions. Rodriguez, 37 years aged, faced Phillip Vela, known as Sin City Sicilian, who boasted a 3-0 record in battle and appeared triumphantly through a unanimous decision after six rounds on Saturday. As reported RateRodriguez, an employee of the Mexican Social Insurance Institute (IMS), returned to his hotel room after the fight against plans to join other fighters from the card for dinner.

However, he never reached the hotel lobby. His body was found on Sunday morning, when the hotel staff entered his room after the transport could not appear to the airport.

The circumstances surrounding his premature death are currently examined by the police, with the cause, which was still established. The authorities in Arizona did not publish an official report on the cause of death and remains unknown, whether there is any connection with the struggle or any previously existing health.

Karl Valenzuela, the wife of a warrior, boldly spoke after a tragic event, suggesting that the hit from the fight could lead to her husband’s death, as he said: “He called me when his fight ended. Even when the series ended and went to the hotel, he spoke with me he organized, he took a video conversation.

“He told me that he was going to dinner and that he was coming back, because at 3:30 in the morning they intended to take them to the airport, it was the only thing I talked to with him.

“I don’t know what really happened: a blow. I don’t know what happened. I’m also confused. We have to wait until tomorrow to see what the report says.”

Vela, who fought Rodriguez shortly before her death, expressed his sadness on Instagram, stating: “A really broken heart to find out this message. Grateful for sharing the ring from Pedro into six rounds. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Uncomplicated, master.”

Del Sol’s boxing promotions also extended their condolences, sharing: “The boxing family del Sol has a broken heart after the death of Pedro Antonio Rodriguez. Our hearts and thoughts are with his loved ones. Out of respect for his family, please join us, waiting for the local authorities to finish work and investigation.”

Skye Nicolson came close to winning the world featherweight title with a dominant points win over Mariah Turner in Melbourne on Wednesday.

Nicolson (16-1, 3 KO) defended her interim WBC featherweight crown, winning every round against Turner (12-2, 6 KO) at The Melbourne Pavilion.

Nicolson’s excellent boxing skills were on display from the first round, keeping her opponent at bay from her probing jab.

The 30-year-old southpaw, who won the interim belt in December with a unanimous decision victory over Yuliahn Luna Avila, bloodied Turner’s nose in the third round after a series of successful left hands.

The former featherweight world champion rocked her opponent with a straight left hand in the sixth gesture, but the “Golden Girl” responded with a left hook of her own, sending Nicolson falling to the ropes.

Nicolson returned to boxing backwards in the seventh round and circumscribed her opponent’s success.

The Novel Zealander fired back in the second round, knocking Wyllie (19-2-1, 17 KO) to his feet with a robust attack.

However, there was no fairy-tale comeback for the 36-year-old, who was weakened later in the round and another attack resulted in the referee’s intervention.

Hussain pushes past Hunt

Benjamin Hussain came off the deck and passed Andrew Hunt by split decision.

Hunt (11-1-1, 6 KO) stopped Hussain (14-2, 8 KO) in the third round, but “The Hype Beast” rallied in a pulsating fight to capture the vacant IBF Inter-Continental super welterweight title with two scores of 95-94 to overturn the 95-94 score in Hunt’s favor.

Undercard remaining

In the lightweight division, Jesse Bolt (4-0, 4 KO) knocked out Faavesi Isaako (3-6, 2 KO) in the second round.

Chloe Chaos (7-2-2, 3 KO) and Arlene Blencowe (5-6-1, 2 KO) drew a split decision in the super welterweight division, and Omar El-Abdallah (5-0, 4 KO) defeated Alivereti Dodomo (7-9, 6 KO) in a super middleweight fight.

Super lightweight prospect Jonte Metaxas (3-0, 1 KO) remained undefeated with a unanimous decision victory over Troy Toleafoa (0-2).

Anthony Joshua had “no intention” of fighting Deontay Wilder

Eddie Hearn did not contact Deontay Wilder about fighting Anthony Joshua after signing a contract to fight Tyson Fury, his manager Shelly Finkel claims.

There has been speculation that Joshua could return against Wilder before he faces Fury.

Instead, the 36-year-old will return to the ring on July 25 against Kristian Prengi, before facing Fury in November.

Wilder called out longtime rival “AJ” after his victory over Derek Chisora ​​earlier this month.

The pair have been linked to a clash since both men held world heavyweight titles in 2018, and Finkel believes Joshua had no interest in fighting the “Bronze Bomber.”
