Ghana boxer Ernest Akushey, unfortunately, died in the early hours on Tuesday morning, 11 days after he was defeated by Jacob Dickson. The fighter who was only 27 years elderly apparently complained that he felt bad before his condition worsened.

Akushey, known as Bahubali, became a professional in 2019 and won his first six fights. In May, he received a chance to win the heavyweight title Ghana, but lost to Jonathan Tetteh through a technical knockout in the seventh round. And he returned to the ring to face Dickson on Saturday, September 13.

Akushey, called the rising star in his homeland, went with his head with a pretender to a super medium weight Dickson in his last fight on the side of Boxing Arena in Ghana, when he was watching a great crowd.

But the competition turned out to be a one -sided romance, because Akushey took a few blows in the head, and Dickson eventually forced the technical knockout in the eighth round.

Then Akushey behaved badly at the beginning of this week, when he coped with stern discomfort. His condition deteriorated overnight before he died unfortunately.

Akushey’s death gave a gloomy mood on the boxing stage in Ghana. And the tribute to the World Boxing Council was: “WBC and its president, Mauricio Sulaiman, mourn this irreversible loss and expand their deepest sympathies to the Ernest family and many friends.”

Meanwhile, Dickson wrote on Instagram: “I am deeply shocked and broken heart, hearing about the death of Ernest Akushey (Bahubali). Although we stood on opposite pages, I always recognized your strength, your courage and fire in the spirit. Maybe we were opponents, but you deserved my respect.

“To know that there is no longer here … it’s unreal. This is a demanding loss – not only for those who knew and loved you, but for everyone who has ever witnessed your fight, heart, humanity. Life can be cruel in their time. One moment we conflict as rivals, the next ones, which we mourn as people.”

And the National Sports Authority Ghany said: “The authorities divide regret in mourning and entire boxing communities and stands in solidarity with them in this challenging time.”

Akushey’s departure will take place just over a week after the death of British boxer Ricky Hatton at the age of 46.

Hatton’s body was found in his home in Greater Manchester by his manager Paul Speak.

And his family explained in the statement: “We are all desperate from the events of recent days. According to all our knowledge, despite his well -documented struggles, Richard was in the good place.

“Pour out of regret and love from the nation and around the world shows how loved Richard was. In time it will be something that gives us consolation and pride.”
