Terence Crawford responds to allegations that he avoided one fighter during his undefeated career

Terence Crawford has responded to allegations that he screwed over the world champion, saying he would win by knockout if they ever faced each other.
The former undisputed three-division king has never been one to shy away from a formidable challenge, which is why he moved up two weight classes to face Canelo Alvarez.
Despite being a significant underdog, Crawford managed to dethrone the Mexican last September, winning all four major super middleweight belts via unanimous decision.
Even earlier, “Bud” established himself as one of the sport’s flagship fighters by defeating Errol Spence Jr. in the ninth round in 2023.
But before he announced his retirement as an undefeated five-division world champion in December, Crawford was accused by Jaron Ennis of ducking a potential fight.
This occurred when “Boots” became the mandatory challenger to Crawford, who eventually vacated his welterweight titles and dethroned 154-pound Israil Madrimov.
Ennis, in turn, was promoted from “interim” to full world champion before finally unifying the IBF and WBA titles against Eimantas Stanionis in April 2025.
However, at the time, the American was vocal about his belief that Crawford was actively avoiding him, when in fact the then undefeated challenger represented a high-risk, low-reward option.
In response, the retired Crawford did so Gillie told the king that had they collided, their welterweight fight would have ended one-sided.
“You’re going to want me to end Boots’ career before it started. I’d knock him out. Stop playing with me.”
“He wasn’t ready yet. They said he needed a few more fights.”
Now I’m campaigning at 154 pounds, “Boots” aims to dethrone unified world champion Xander Zayas during a game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 27.

London-based Zak Chelli made his boxing debut at the age of 19, defeating Jacob Lucas by technical decision. Chelli won his next six fights.
On September 14, 2019, Zak Chelli suffered his first professional defeat, losing by unanimous decision to Kody Davies. Eleven months later, Chelli returned to the ring and won a split decision against Jack Cullen.
Chelli continued his streak of four straight wins. Chelli fought five times in a row and succeeded, defeating Germaine Brown to win the English super middleweight title.
Chelli had one successful title defense before losing the belt to Mark Jeffers. Five months later, in a rematch with Jack Cullen in January 2024, Chelli overtook Cullen to win the British and Commonwealth super middleweight titles.
Recently, the long-awaited April 2026 fight between highly rated David Morrell and interim WBO lithe heavyweight champion Callum Smith was scheduled to take place in Liverpool. Unfortunately, Smith withdrew due to a training injury.
However, David Morrell has been given another chance to make his boxing debut in the UK. On May 9, 2026, David Morrell traveled to Manchester, England to face Zak Chelli.
Boxing is a sport based on levels and during the first half of the fight, David Morrell showed that he is one level above Zak Chelli. In the second half of the fight, Chelli had his moments, but Morrell was in complete control.
The turning point in the fight came 20 seconds into the ninth round when Chelli landed a demanding right hand that stunned Morrell. For the next nineteen seconds, Chelli hit Morrell with a steady series of punches.
At 2:26 of the 10th round, Chelli hurt Morrell again with a demanding shot with his left hand. In the last 40 seconds of round 10, Chelli landed a six-punch combination that forced the referee to step in and stop the fight.
David Morrell (12-2, 9 KO) lost the first fight in his career in February 2025 to Pound for Pound star David Benavidez. On Saturday evening, May 9, Morrell lost his second fight to Zak Chelli, a substitute teacher specializing in math and science.
Zak Chelli (17-3-1, 9 KO) earned the luxury of making his dream come true by defeating the former two-division champion. At an all-time high in confidence, Chelli summoned the man at the top of the food chain.
– Morrell did pretty well against Benavidez, didn’t he? – Chelli said. “And I did better, so why not? I can definitely become world champion.”
Zak Chelli just recorded the biggest win of his professional career and is ready to move on to the next step. Chelli probably won’t get the Benavidez fight, but at least the educator could employ the opportunity to teach David Morrell a valuable lesson.

Top trainer Robert Garcia supports David Benavidez in defeating the heavyweight champion and making history

David Benavidez’s victory over Gilberto Ramirez had the boxing world wondering about a potential history-making heavyweight title shot, and now top-rated trainer Robert Garcia has shared his thoughts on the debate.
Ruling at both super middleweight and lightweight heavyweight, Benavidez jumped from 25 pounds to cruiserweight and made things easier for unified WBO and WBA champion Ramirez, stopping the Mexican in the sixth round.
As a result, many fans are questioning whether Benavidez should abandon his plans to return to lightweight heavyweight and possibly move up to heavyweight to fight current unified champion Oleksandr Usyk.
If Benavidez won heavyweight gold, he would join Roy Jones Jr. the second man to truly reign supreme in the super middleweight and heavyweight divisions, apart from winning the heavyweight title from James Toney, who was then ruled a no-contest due to a failed drug test. “The Mexican Monster” is currently the only man to have won titles at 168, 175 and 200 pounds.
I’m talking to ES NewsGarcia, who has trained the likes of Anthony Joshua, Jesse Rodriguez and Nonito Donaire, expressed confidence that the “Mexican Monster” will be able to dethrone Usyk within two years.
“I think Benavidez will beat Usyk in two years. [Usyk is nearly 40 already,] so imagine that in two years Benavidez will beat him.
Time will tell whether Usyk will remain in office for that long. The undisputed two-weight champion fights kickboxer Rico Verhoeven this month and has said he will fight two more times before he seriously considers retirement.
With a number of contenders already in the division worthy of a shot at the Ukrainian, a fight with Benavidez seems a long way off, not least because Benavidez himself seems, for now, determined to fall down rather than climb up.
However, Benavidez plans to move up to the top division at some point, and if Garcia believes he can beat someone as talented as Usyk, even considering his age, he will likely pit him against a number of other heavyweights.

For boxing fans who aren’t plugged into the streaming world, it’s the quotes that speak volumes the most. This all came from Kick streams or related social media posts.

“I don’t play with women.”
“I really am, brother.”
“I don’t care how lovely a woman is, it doesn’t matter, brother.”

“Anyone can get it. Africans, Americans, Dominicans, Mexicans.”
Broner on the comeback
Broner hasn’t fought since June 2024. When asked on stream if the DeenTheGreat camp was real:
“Training with Deen will spark the comeback.”
Ryan Garcia, OX
WBC welterweight titleholder Ryan Garcia quoted the Uber clip in X.
“I’m sorry to see this, AB, if you see this, call me. Let’s get your location. You don’t have to keep drinking. Let’s be better. Let’s not judge, let’s shut up.”
Read outside
From an article titled “Adrien Broner Is About to Make the Worst Decision of His Life,” published on May 11:
“The question is no longer whether Broner can make money outside of boxing. Apparently he can. The issue is whether turning his real life into lasting content while struggling with alcoholism will remove him even further from stability.”
Catch-up for non-streamers
Broner (35-5-1, 24 KO) has not fought since June 2024, when he lost by unanimous decision to Blair Cobbs at the Seminole Difficult Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The judges scored this fight 97-91, 96-93 and 96-93. News from the world of boxing in November 2025, he reported that Broner had returned to the gym after a 17-month break. No opponent or return date has been announced. Rampage Jackson’s appearance on the AdrienBroner Kick channel, posted via the official YouTube account, is the latest tie-in moment for a run that started with a verification badge and hasn’t slowed down since.
