Terence Crawford names who hit him hardest after 42 fight career

Last month, Terence Crawford announced he was retiring from boxing, but recalling which opponent hit him the hardest in his professional career, “Bud” gave an unexpected answer.

Crawford hung up the gloves two months after his career-defining victory over Canelo Alvarez, as the Omaha-born phenom became the first fighter to become the undisputed champion of three weight classes in the four-belt era and just the second in history.

This super middleweight triumph is all the more impressive because it was Crawford’s first time winning world titles at lightweight, making the victory one of the most impressive triumphs since the turn of the millennium.

However, despite moving up multiple weight classes to face Canelo, Crawford explained that he didn’t feel overwhelmed by the super middleweight superstar’s punching power. Instead, in the post-fight interview, Crawford named Lithuanian welterweight fighter Egidijus Kavaliauskas as a stronger puncher.

“I was hit harder in a real fight. ‘Mean Machine’ [Kavaliauskas] To be sincere, hit harder than Canelo.

Kavaliauskas collided with Crawford in 2019 in his maiden world title fight, where he was stopped by the American after nine rounds of action. However, he has a claim to be the only man to abandon an American star. Although Crawford touching the canvas in the third round was ruled a slip, most believe the referee should have awarded the knockdown.

This shortcoming was the first of Kavaliauskas’ career, but since then the 37-year-old has been outscored by both Vergil Ortiz Jr and Souleymane Cissokho.

Since then, the fighter from Kaunas has recovered from the defeat to Cissokho with a controversial victory over Samuel Molina on home soil, thanks to which he won the EBU European welterweight title and moved up to 7th place in the WBC 147-pound rankings.

Radivoje Kalajdzic improved to 31-3 with a unanimous decision over Craig Richards, who dropped to 20-5-1 after a good ten-round scrap.
