Sebastian Fundora’s next fight: Three names after Thurman wins
Sebastian Fundora’s stoppage of Keith Thurman threw the super welterweight division wide open, with the newly established champion now targeting unification fights against the biggest names in the 154-pound weight class.
Fundora became the first man to stop Thurman last night and the second fighter to ever defeat the 37-year-old, alongside Manny Pacquiao.
“The Towering Inferno” only has one loss on his resume, which came against Brian Mendoza.

Since arrest in 2023 The 28-year-old is doing almost flawlessly.
In 2023, he became the WBC world champion, and so far he has defended the 154-pound title four times.
After victories over the likes of Tim Tszyu and Keith Thurman, Fundora will be looking to unify his belts next, and here are three names that could lend a hand him get there.
Jaron Ennis
Arguably Fundora’s biggest commercial attraction, fighting “Boots” would be a huge event.
Ennis, a former welterweight ruler, has been undefeated for 35 years and continues to impress.
“Boots” held the IBF and WBA welterweight world titles and will be looking to return to the world titles as soon as possible.

Last time out, he moved up to Fundora’s super welterweight division and made no mistake against Uisma Lima.
Ennis stopped the Angolan in the first round of his debut in the higher league.
Ennis has publicly called for several fights, including against Vergil Ortiz Jr and Xander Zayas, so a fight with Fundora could make sense.

Xander Zayas
Boxing’s youngest world champion is now looking for his next fight, and “The Towering Inferno” fits the bill perfectly.
Zayas is the unified 154-pound champion and currently holds the WBA and WBO titles.
He first won the WBO belt in delayed 2025 against Jorge Garcia Perez, winning a major unanimous decision.
He wasted no time in winning his second world title, dethroning then-WBA world champion Abass Baraou in January of this year.
A three-belt fight would be huge, but rumors have it that both Ennis and Zayas will face each other instead.
Vergil Ortiz Jr
Ortiz Jr currently holds the WBC interim super welterweight title, so a fight between Fundora and the 28-year-old may be the most likely outcome.
Ortiz is undefeated for 24 years and boasts an impressive 92% knockout rate.
Last time he stopped Erickson Lubin in just two rounds.
He also defeated Terence Crawford’s former opponent, Israil Madrimov, in a delicate undercard of the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol II match.
Ortiz Jr has also been in talks to fight Ennis, but it appears negotiations have stalled, so he may consider fighting for the full WBC title next.

Jaron Ennis is the bookmakers’ main favorite to defeat Xander Zayas in their highly anticipated world title clash on Saturday in Brooklyn.
Ennis challenges Zayas for the WBO and WBA super welterweight belts at the Barclays Center live on DAZN pay-per-view.
The undefeated resident of Philadelphia enters the game as the favorite on February 11 Bet365 give the 23-year-old his first professional defeat and become world champion in two weight categories.
“Boots” has stopped 31 of his 35 opponents, including Uisma Lima in his 154-pound debut in October, and is expected to stop the Puerto Rican on 20/21.

On Wednesday, Lewis Crocker heads to Australia to defend his IBF welterweight world title against Liam Paro for the first time.
Crocker will face Paro at the Pat Rafter Arena in Queensland, live on DAZN in the UK and Kayo Sports in Australia.
Crocker (22-0, 11 KO) became world champion in September, defeating Paddy Donovan twice before winning the rematch by split decision.
Man from Belfast recorded his second victory over Donovan after the first victory in March last year, and his rival was disqualified for hitting him after the bell.
Paro (27-1, 16 KO) is trying to become a world champion in two weight categories, having previously reigned in the super-lightweight division.
The 30-year-old won the title with a unanimous decision victory over Subriel Matias in Puerto Rico before winning the belt in his first defense against Richardson Hitchins.
The Australian has since won twice, overtaking David Papot in his last appearance in September.
McKean meets Taliva
Heavyweight Demsey McKean will look to continue his rebuild when he faces Liam Talivaa for the vacant IBF Pan Pacific title.
McKean (24-2, 16 KO) had his career cut miniature after a last-round loss to Filip Hrgovic, followed by a brutal first-round loss to Moses Itauma.

Talivaa (8-2, 4 KO) last won the IBF Oceania-Orient title, defeating Faiga Opelu by first-round stoppage.
