Robbie Lawler mentioned in the UFC Hall of Fame class with 2025

Las Vegas – UFC announced today that the former UFC Robbie Lawler welterweight champion will be introduced into the contemporary Hall of Fame wing as a member of class 2025. Lawler will enter the Hall of Fame UFC as 16th A member of a contemporary wing. He defeated his opponent, Aaron Riley, through a unanimous decision to start his career at the Octagon. Lawler would win three of the next six fights with the UFC in two years, ending his first internship with the organization after losing to the former medium weight champion UFC Evan Tanner UFC® 50: War ’04.

Over the next seven years, Lawler competed 18 times in other promotions except UFC, securing the record of 11-6.1 NC from returning. This time also included appearances in pride and strike because it was acquired by Zuff and connected to UFC.

He returned to the UFC competition as a welterweight in 2012, beating Josh Koscheck through TKO in the first round during UFC® 157: Rousey vs. carmouchewhich took place on February 23, 2013 in Anaheim, California.

Lavler He would win his next two fights on Bobby Voelker and Rory Macdonald and set his first fight against Hendricks with a free UFC welterweight title at UFC 171.

UFC® 171: Hendricks vs. LavlerIt took place on March 15, 2014 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Lawler and Hendricks fought for five rounds, and Johny won a unanimous decision. The first of the two fights between athletes, the main UFC 171 event won several awards for Fight of the year in 2014.

After losing to UFC 171, Lawler won his next two fights with Jake Ellenberger and Matt Brown to win his second shot in the title of welterweight as a claimant for Hendricks in the main UFC 181 event.

UFC® 181: Hendricks vs. Lawler II It took place on December 6, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nev.; Lawler and Hendricks competed for all five rounds, and Lawler won the title using a divided decision.

Lawler’s status as a legendary warrior would be secured during his next two fights, because he would defend the welterweight title against Rora Macdonald and Carlos Condit during UFC 189 (2015) and UFC 195 (2016). Lawler also fought in high school, winning all-State awards. He currently lives in Florida with his wife.

The fights return to the Apex for tonight's UFC Vegas 123 event, a 12-bout fight card headlined by Renato Moicano vs. Tom Nolan.

Moicano (21-7-1 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since submitting Chris Duncan this past April with a face crank. That triumph snapped a two-fight losing skid for ‘Money', who had previously dropped fights to Beneil Dariush and Islam Makhachev (see that here). The Brazilian has gone 5-2 over his past seven fights overall.

Meanwhile, Tom Nolan (11-1 MMA) will enter the Octagon sporting a five-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory coming over Fares Ziam this past June. ‘Big Train' suffered his lone career loss back in January of 2024, when he was TKO'd by Nikolas Motta in his promotional debut.

UFC Vegas 123 is co-headlined by a welterweight bout featuring Randy Brown taking on Jacobe Smith.

Brown (20-8 MMA) will enter the Octagon with hopes of snapping a two-fight losing skid, this after suffering back-to-back losses against Gabriel Bonfim and Kevin Holland respectively. Prior to those setbacks, ‘Rude Boy' was coming off a second-round knockout victory over Nicolas Darby in April of 2025.

Meanwhile, Jacobe Smith (13-0 MMA) will be making a quick turnaround, this after earning a first-round TKO victory over Bruce Whitehead just four weeks ago at UFC 332 (see that here).

Also featured on tonight's UFC Vegas 132 main card is a welterweight bout between Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani and Farman Hasanov.

Lebosnoyani (11-2 MMA) will enter the contest on a six-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory coming over Seok Hyeon Ko this past July. ‘Mufasa' has gone 2-0 since making his Octagon debut back in February.

Meanwhile, Farman Hasanov (5-0) made his promotional debut back in June at UFC Baku, where he kept his perfect record in check with a unanimous decision win over Eric Nolan. ‘The Lion' has earned stoppage wins in three of his five professional fights.
