Partnership in pizza with the participation of the former heavyweight master Andy Ruiz Jr., fell a few days before launch.
The South Bay restaurant initially became “Andy’s Pizzeria”, now it distances itself from the former WBA, WBO and IBF title holder, and the owner Victor Lopez pulls the plug before the planned great opening this Thursday.
In an unexpected statement on Instagram, Lopez announced that the intended rebrandia Pizzeria Victorino in Chula Vista broke his ties with the warrior.
“Many ask about Andy’s pizzeria and her great opening on July 10,” Lopez wrote. “I am here to say that we have parted and we will not continue this partnership.”
Lopez continued his mighty news for customers and fans.
“If you see any pizzerias under his name, I neither El Pollo Grill nor Pizzeria Victorino are not associated with him or his brand.”
Andy Ruiz Jr. It is out of the menu
In May, Ruiz from Fanfare was announced, binding the name of the former heavyweight master with a recent restaurant as part of “Andy’s Pizzeria”.
At that time, Ruiz’s involvement was aimed at introducing the local pride and power of the star, especially considering his roots in San Diego. Ruiz’s first amateur struggle took place in a city at just seven years.
Ruiz, known as “The Destroyer”, made history in 2019, when he became the first warrior of Mexican origin, who won the world -heavyweight world championship, stunning Anthony Joshua in the fight in 2019 in Up-to-date York.

The pizzeria, dropping Ruiz, adds a career to his two touches – one against Joshua in the fight in 2019, and the other against Chris Arreolie in 2021.
Since the defeat of Joshua in 2019, Ruiz saw his career from just four fights in six years. In August 2024, he suffered a hand injury against Jarrell Miller, which would stop him by the end of this year.
WBN contacted Lopez to further comment on why the contract terminated so close to the premiere. They indicated WBN to the issued statement without further comments.
Victorino pizzeria remains open. The plant is located at 3047 Bonita Road, Suite 107, in Chula Vista, California.
The World Boxing News also contacted the Ruiz camp for an answer.
