After the fight, Wardley made it clear that he did not need to put together a “perfect” 12-round fight. All he needs is this one moment for a knockout, and he makes up for the rest of the rounds.

The One-Time King speaks

One-time King Wardley noted that he is “avoided the warrior” in the division and the reason for that is his punching power. And his willingness to walk through fire to win. This sets him apart from other heavyweights in the division who don’t want to deal with the pain of being pressured.

Avoided for some reason

“I’m a shunned heavyweight and I’m going up against any fighter in the world. I don’t have to be perfect for 12 rounds, I just need to be perfect for that one moment,” Wardley said.

Fabio’s victory over interim WBO heavyweight champion Parker established him as the mandatory challenger to undisputed champion Usyk. Wardley’s promoter, Frank Warren, said after the fight that Usyk would have to face him next.

If he fails to do so, he will be stripped of his WBO title and Wardley will become the modern champion. The WBO has already ordered Usyk to defend against a mandatory next fight. So that leaves him no choice.

It is sporadic for a fighter who has worked in the business sector to take up boxing in his 20s and reach the brink of a world title fight without any amateur experience.

“If you bought this fight, how can you not have fun? There’s always going to be someone who’s going to moan about it. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. Nobody’s forcing you to buy it,” Warren said of fans who complained about the undercard for Parker vs. Wardley.

Fans divided over Undercard

Last Saturday, many boxing fans complained about the undercard. They felt there were no significant fights missing that would justify the pay-per-view price tag on DAZN. If Warren had included one good fight involving eminent fighters in the feature spot, fans wouldn’t have complained so much.

“Oleksandr, I have the utmost respect for you. Let’s hurry up and get this fight going. Everyone wants to see it,” Warren said of his message to Usyk about wanting to arrange another fight between him and Wardley.
