Oleksandr Usyk’s manager reveals why he vacated the WBO title
Oleksandr Usyk is already the undisputed heavyweight champion.
Usyk opted to relinquish his WBO title earlier this week and his vintage belt is now held by Fabio Wardley.
After his victory over Daniel Dubois in July, the Ukrainian was ordered to face former interim champion Joseph Parker, but due to an injury, negotiations were extended.
Wardley had put himself in pole position to take a shot at the 38-year-old after wresting the interim title from Parker last month with an 11th-round stoppage at the O2 Arena, but Usyk opted to vacate the belt instead.
Usyk’s manager, Sergei Lapin, insists that the reason behind the decision to vacate the title was to ensure that upcoming fighters would be able to fight for it.
“Oleksandr vacated the belt to give younger fighters a chance to fight for it,” Lapin said proboxing-fans.com.
“We’ll see how things develop further.”
Up and coming heavyweight prospect Moses This is going to hurt is the main challenger to Wardley’s belt, but a clash seems unlikely considering the two share a trainer, Ben Davison.
Lapin said earlier proboxing-fans.com that he would like to see a Wardley-Itauma fight with the winner earning a shot at his charge, and his opinion hasn’t changed.
“Fabio vs. Moses would be a great fight for both of them and it would be fascinating to see who comes out on top.”
Lapin, the CEO of Ready To Fight, says no decision has been made yet on the next move for the two-division world champion, who plans to continue boxing until he reaches adulthood. 41-year-old.

Jaron Ennis is the bookmakers’ main favorite to defeat Xander Zayas in their highly anticipated world title clash on Saturday in Brooklyn.
Ennis challenges Zayas for the WBO and WBA super welterweight belts at the Barclays Center live on DAZN pay-per-view.

On Wednesday, Lewis Crocker heads to Australia to defend his IBF welterweight world title against Liam Paro for the first time.
Crocker will face Paro at the Pat Rafter Arena in Queensland, live on DAZN in the UK and Kayo Sports in Australia.
Crocker (22-0, 11 KO) became world champion in September, defeating Paddy Donovan twice before winning the rematch by split decision.
Man from Belfast recorded his second victory over Donovan after the first victory in March last year, and his rival was disqualified for hitting him after the bell.
Paro (27-1, 16 KO) is trying to become a world champion in two weight categories, having previously reigned in the super-lightweight division.
The 30-year-old won the title with a unanimous decision victory over Subriel Matias in Puerto Rico before winning the belt in his first defense against Richardson Hitchins.
