Mary Spencer vs Mikaela Mayer set to October 30
Published
10 months agoon
There will be two main events at the de Montréal casino on October 30. The Super-Welterwagth champion WBA Mary Spencer will face the world champion with a two-level American and great Mikael Mayer in one of the most significant boxing matches of women in Canada.
Then, in a local clash with two titles on the line, the teenage sensation of Wilkens Mathieu will face Quebec Warrior Shakeel Phinn in a very anticipated clash of super-medium weight.
“Last year Mikael Mayer header for Madison Square Garden. This fall will be here at the de Montréal casino. This proves that boxing Quebec belongs to enormous leagues – and that Mary Spencer does not withdraw from adversity. Her title of Master is on the line that night, and I have no doubt that she is ready to keep it.
“I have never thought for a thousand years that I would have a chance to fight Mikaela Mayer. I followed her career a lot, and as a fan I love her style – but I am most excited about the fact that our styles combine so well that it will be a really memorable fight. I say that I am excited about understatement, and I hope that the fans will be, because it will be epic, because it will be epic.”
Mary Spencer (10-2, 6 KO) Canadian Olympian from the London Games and a three-time amateur world champion, Mary Spencer (10-2, 6 KO). In September, she won the title of WBA SUPER-WELTERWEIGHT champion against the German Naomi Mannes. In April, she successfully defended him, dominating in the former twice world champion Ogleidis Suarez within 10 rounds, despite a stern hand injury. Now the fully recovered Spencer is more than ever determined to win her third straightforward fight for the title of world champion.
On the other side of the Mikael Mayer ring (21-2, 5 KO) will be in an unusual Challenger position. The Olympian in Rio Games, promoted the highest rank, from Los Angeles, held the titles of WBO, IBF and Ring Super Feather Wweight. Later she moved to a lightweight, winning the transient title of WBC, and in September 2024 she won the title of WBO CHAMPLE in the Madison Square Garden Theater with a complex decision of the majority over Sandy Ryan. She defended this belt in March, complementing Ryan with a unanimous decision in their rematch.
“I couldn’t get the undisputed fight against Lauren Price, so instead of having an straightforward touch, I was looking for the next best challenge,” said Mikaela Mayer. “Defeating Mary Spencer in 154 pounds will make me three divisions world champion and although I can be on a smaller side, I have the necessary skills and experience. I will breathe Mary, and then I will return to the welterweight to question the price. I will be stronger, sharper and better than ever.”
While Spencer vs. Mayer Bout offers two fixed masters, clash of Wilkens Mathieu (14-0, 10 KO) vs. Shakeel Phinn (27-3-2, 17 KO) will contain two fighters with something that can be proven.
“This is clearly the biggest test in my career – but this does not mean that I will be tested,” said the confident Wilkens Mathieu, the emerging ambassador Eottm Star and Ring Magazine. “People always say that boxing is at the level, and on September 30 I will show everyone – including Shakeel Phinn – that he is not on mine.”
“People think it will be a complex fight, but for Wilkens it will look straightforward. Expect on October 30 that his trainer, Giuseppe Moffa from Montreal. Mathieu will fight for NAKF and WBC Continental Americas Super-Middle Wweight.
But being weaker never intimidated Shakeel Phinn. In May 2024, “Jamaican Juggernaut” entered the ring at the de Montréal casino against another unbeaten Eottm warr, Erik Bazinyan. Despite the fact that he is a ponderous weaker than 8 to 1, Phinn shocked everyone by fighting for a tie-wynik, which in his opinion should have been in his favor. Phinn, decided not to leave anything to the judges, Phinn returns to the casino with a clear mission.
Also on the October 30 card, three other masters will be in action. The 10 best claimant for the Super Fiber: Arthur Biyarslanov (19-0, 16 KO) will create his fourth defense of the NAPF title. TOP-15 A delicate chapter for heavyweight Mehmet Unal (13-0, 11 KO) will defend his WBC Continental title for the first time, and the candidate for the weight of the Christopher Guerrero (15-0, 9 KO) will do the second defense of the WBC Continental title. Favorite fans of Thomas Chabot (11-0, 8 KO) will also return to the action, and the rising younger amateur world champion Erik Israylyana (2-0, 2 KO) will try to maintain an intact record.

Oscar Collazo remained undefeated and won the WBO International flyweight title on Saturday night with a devastating two-round victory over Neider Valdez.
The unified WBA, WBO and Ring Magazine minimumweight champion improved to 15-0 with 12 knockouts after defeating Valdez three times before Mexico’s corner stopped the fight at 2:35 of the second round.
Making his final appearance at 112 pounds, Collazo showed his strength immediately transferred to the upper division, defeating Valdez from the opening bell at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California.
The Puerto Rican striker repeatedly found a home for his left hand and left no doubt about the outcome before the fight was called off.
“I felt great at 112 pounds. I love this division. In fact, I want to stay here for a long time,” Collazo said.
Knockdowns
Collazo admitted that he had already called for the fight to be stopped.
“After the third knockdown I was basically saying, ‘Never again, never again’. It was the right decision for his safety. His corner was well checked.
The victory added another belt to Collazo’s collection and enhanced his growing reputation as one of boxing’s most invigorating champions in the lower weight division.
Looking ahead, Collazo has made it clear who he wants next.
“The fight with Ricardo Sandoval definitely interests me. I really want that fight. I’m ready for gigantic fights. I’m ready to make history. That’s the fight I want next.”
Sandoval currently holds the WBA flyweight title, making this one of the most attractive fights available if Collazo continues his climb in weight.
The event was broadcast live on DAZN and was promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in partnership with Miguel Cotto Promotions.
