Jack Catterall vs Arnold Barboza JR – Report on the results and fasting of the fight
Published
1 year agoon

Arnold Barboza Jr came one step cling to the super lithe title WBO on Co-OP Live Arena in Manchester this Saturday, when he won the decision with Jacek Cattell to win the transient version of the crown.
Catterall began clearly, landing with effective shots in the opener, and his patient production worked well because he landed cleaner blows against the busy barboza in the second round.
Barboza began to raise the pressure in the third round, and his rapid hands and work rate began to play, but the Cattell counterattack still caused American problems when the fight reached halfway.

The sweet time combination of Barbozy was in seventh place, but Catterall replied newly later with a few left hooks landing purely. Both of them achieved their successes, and the round ten saw how he put his foot on gas again, although he hit the canvas that was ruled as a slip. The penultimate round was close, and this established the finish of the grandstand, in which the fight was looking for grips, and the couple allowed the last bell to be.
Two results 115-113 were enough for Barbose to raise his hand, and the third judge fired the same for Cattell. Barboz will approach the meeting with the WBO master, Teofimo Lopez.
Dickens stunns Barrett
James “Jazza” Dickens (35-5, 14 KO) took the clash of Crossroads to Undercard when he inflicted Barrett (31-3, 17 Kos) in his career, scoring points at their meeting. Dickens won using two cards, according to the results 97-93, and the third judge had it 96-94 to Liverpudlian.

Belotti Batars Gomez
The Indian summer Reece Belotti (20-5, 15 KO) was continued, when he defended his British and community titles Super Feather Wweight, forcing Michael Gomez Jr (21-2, 6 KO) to retire at the end of the ninth round. Gomez was twice during the fight, once in the fifth, and again at the eighth, both from the body shots, and Bellotti still had to overcome a nasty cut to perform the task.
Further summary of the card
Former Olympian Pat McCormack (7-0, 5 KO) continued his studies and dropped Robbie Davies Jr (24-6, 15 KO) three times before he forced Davies to retire six cages in a half-year-old competition.
In six rounds, William Croll (7-0, 6 KO) needed less than a round to see Ayoub Zakari (5-8-1, 0 KO) in a super-medium super weight, and with lightweight AQIB FIAZ (13-1, 2 KOS. ) took only the second space of his career in the detention of Lydon Chircop (7-3, 4 KO) in three.
The lithe heavyweight debutant Conner Tudsbury (1-0, 1 KO) began his professional life with the victory of the second round against Sadaam Moamed da Silva Caetano (7-6, 5 KO).
The only four round came in a featherweight, in which Alfie Middlemiss (2-0, 0 KO) won points over Caine Singh (1-6-2, 0 KO).

David Benavidez is already looking to the future ahead of next week’s showdown with Zurdo Ramirez.
Benavidez challenges Zurdo for his unified WBO and WBA cruiserweight world titles next Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, live on DAZN pay-per-view.
“The Mexican Monster” is moving up from lightweight heavyweight, where he holds the WBC crown, in a bid to become a three-division world champion.
An undisputed 175-pound title fight with Dmitry Bivol has so far eluded the undefeated 29-year-old, but he insists he will return to the weight class after the Ramirez fight in an attempt to lure Bivol to fight him.
“My plan wasn’t just to abandon the lightweight heavyweight division,” Benavidez said Ariel Helwani show.
“My plan was this [to] come up, win two titles, come back and make this fight with me and Bivol even bigger.
“My dream is to become unified champion.
“It would be wise for me to go back downstairs.”
Bivol, the holder of the remaining IBF, WBA and WBO belts, will defend his IBF title against mandatory challenger Michael Eifert on May 30 in Russia.
The 35-year-old won the undisputed crown, among others revenge victory over Artur Beterbiev in his last appearance last February.
The Russian gave up the WBC belt, which Benavidez currently holds, in pursuit of a third meeting with Beterbiev, which ultimately did not take place.

Benavidez, who stopped Anthony Yarde in Riyad in November, is also hoping to fight former undisputed lightweight heavyweight champion Beterbiev, who hasn’t fought since his only professional loss to Bivol.
“After this fight [against Bivol] when I win the titles,” he added.
“I’m going to fight Beterbiev.
“I’m probably most excited about Beterbiev.

“These are two monsters heading on a collision course.
“Beterbiev was a bogeyman for a long, long, long time.
“Being the monster I am, I have to go in there and get rid of the bogeyman.”

Ryan Garcia insists he was not given a contract to fight Conor Benn, despite the Briton insisting he signed a contract for the fight.
Garcia and Benn are reportedly in talks for a welterweight world title clash in Las Vegas in August.
Benn is the number one contender for the American’s WBC crown, which he won by unanimous decision over Mario Barrios in February.
On Wednesday, Benn publicly called on his rival to sign the end of the deal.
“Sign the contract @RyanGarcia,” the 29-year-old wrote X.
“King Ry” sharply criticized “The Destroyer”, claiming that he was not given a contract to sign.
The 27-year-old wrote further X: “If I actually had a contract, Conor, I would sign it as soon as one of these hands touches your jaw on fight night.”
Benn has not broken the 147-pound limit since 2022, although he has signaled his intention to return to welterweight, and his last fight was at 150 pounds.

The player from Ilford said goodbye to former two-time world champion, Regis Prograis unanimous decision at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this month.
Benn fought at middleweight in his two fights, then fought Prograis in two hard-fought matches against Chris Eubank Jr.
Prior to his victory over Porgrais, the 29-year-old controversially left former promotional team Matchroom to join Zuffa Boxing on a one-fight deal reportedly worth $15 million.

Benn resigned last week from the company formed by UFC president Dana White as part of a five-fight contract.
“I just signed a fresh multi-fight contract, which I am very joyful with,” he said.
“Our visions are consistent.
If I actually had a contract, Conor, I would sign it as soon as one of those hands touched your jaw on fight night.

“Our goal remains the same, which is to win the world title, but more importantly, to give people the fight they want.
“Give people mega fights.”

Lawrence Okolie failed a drug test, meaning the entire Paris event was canceled due to fight card being thrown out

Queensberry Promotions has confirmed that the fight headlined by Lawrence Okolie has been canceled due to a failed drug test. The 33-year-old was scheduled to fight Olympic gold medalist Tony Yoka in Paris on Saturday, but the fight was canceled after the heavyweight fighter presented an unfavorable assessment by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA).
Okolie wanted to stun the Frenchman on home soil to secure three heavyweight victories and push him towards contention for world titles. However, days before the event, the fight was forced to be canceled due to test results, leading to the entire card being scrapped. “The Sauce” has vowed to clear its name and says it will fully cooperate with the investigation following the news that broke on Tuesday (April 21).
As a result of this arrangement, the co-main event between Bakary Samake and Ermal Hadribeaj was also canceled. In a statement, the boxing organization said: “For reasons beyond our control, Queensberry and DAZN have regretfully decided to cancel the gala in Paris scheduled for Saturday.”
Okolie has won each of his last four fights after losing to Chris Billiam-Smith in a British superfight at the Vitality Stadium, home of Premier League side Bournemouth. The 33-year-old posted on Instagram following the news regarding his fight, wishing to deny any foul play.
He said: “Before anyone starts imagining the worst, after last year’s biceps injury, I suffered an elbow injury on the same arm during this camp. I underwent treatment and now here we are. I really hope common sense prevails.”
“I will of course cooperate fully with all relevant authorities and I am confident that any investigation will clear my name. I will not be making any further comments at this time. Thank you for all your support and I will see you soon.”
Okolie had several of the division’s top fighters in his sights after a knockout victory over Ebenezer Tetteh in December, citing feared prospect Moses Itauma. The Sauce defeated Ghanian in two rounds, after knocking out and firing shots at the 21-year-old.
Frank Warren confirmed to talkSPORT that Okolie has been suspended following unfavorable findings. It is said that attempts were made to find a replacement, but a deal could not be reached in the days before the fight.
The promoter said: “Under the circumstances he is suspended immediately. He will face a hearing when the hearing is called. This is very unsatisfactory.”
