Ishmael Davis has sparred Conor Benn and now makes KO prediction for Chris Eubank Jr rematch

The upcoming rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about fights in 2025 – and one man saw Benn up close during the preparations.

Later this month, Eubank and Benn will resume hostilities seven months after they ended contender for fight of the yearwhen Eubank won on points.

Ishmael Davis (14-3 (6 KO)) has his own thoughts on how the continuation of the fight might go after sparring with Benn in recent weeks. Both are preparing for fights on the same card – Benn in the main event and Davis in a mandatory fight with Sam Gilley (18-1-1 (9 KO)) for the vacant British super welterweight title.

In an interview with Boxing News, Davis revealed what it was like to share a round with “The Destroyer.”

“The sparring with Conor was perfect. The result is crazy. Imagine me against Conor. It’s fireworks.”

The 30-year-old added that the benefits of their work go far beyond the ring.

“We have a good relationship. So we don’t just go in there and beat each other up. We talk all the time, we push each other, and if I’m doing something that he thinks I should be better at, he’ll tell me about it and vice versa. We both give each other that motivation.”

As for the rematch between Eubank and Benn, there’s a good chance their mutual disdain will again cause game plans to be abandoned in favor of raw emotion, something Davis noted after Eubank’s April win. This time, however, he believes Benn’s evolution will be evident, with a more controlled approach and better weight management leading to a stoppage victory.

“They both let hate take over. There was no skill. It was just who could fight harder and longer.

“That will change in the second fight, which will have a massive impact on who wins. I believe Conor is more mentally settled now and now he has the power and handles the weight better. He carries that power better. And I believe Conor can stop him.”

All will be revealed on November 15 after Benn and Eubank’s collision at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Brit was dropped twice by massive underdog Prenga in the opening round of their clash in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, but ‘AJ’ managed to recover and record a big knockdown of his own in the second round that resulted in the stoppage victory.

Tony Bellew Reviews Anthony Joshua's Comeback Victory Over Kristian Prenga After Knockdown Drama

Anthony Joshua may have earned a knockout win over Kristian Prenga but the fight certainly didn’t unfold as most people expected.

Joshua was facing the Albanian in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, and it looked like a massive upset could be on the cards when he was dropped twice in the opening round.

‘AJ’ was able to recover and went on to secure a second round knockout victory to prevent the shock lossseemingly paving the way for the battle against Tyson Fury later this year.

One man who was ringside to witness the battle was former cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellewand he praised Joshua’s ability to turn things around in the fight after describing it as ‘chaos’.

“We predicted round two but I don’t think we foresaw that. That was chaos. He doesn’t see the uppercut coming and finds himself on the floor without knowing how he got there.

“The second one he did see it coming and he was able to clench down on the jaw. He got up and then the experience that he has he used tonight because he tied him up. Against Andy Ruiz he didn’t know what he was doing and didn’t know how to do that, but tonight he did.

“He showed once again there is no quit. To be that hurt in the first round and get up, that’s the recoveries of power. People talk about your chin, but it’s not, it’s the level of fitness that gets you up from the floor.

“When Joshua gets a fighter hurt he’s the best finisher in the division. Whenever he hurts someone they’re gone. I haven’t seen him drop anybody and they survive, only Andy Ruiz. He’s a ruthless finisher.”

The clash between Joshua and Fury is now expected to be announced soon for later this year, after Fury won his own interim fight on Friday by defeating Mariusz Wach.
