Ian Machado Garry not concerned about lack of fan support ahead of UFC 330: 'I couldn’t care less what people think of me'

Conor McGregor didn't want to fight at UFC 329, says Din Thomas

Ian Machado Garry doesn't care if fans like him or not.

Garry has gotten backlash from MMA fans over what he says in interviews and the way he acts. Yet, he seemingly doesn't care, as he's just focused on fighting, and he has a chance to win the welterweight title in the main event of UFC 330 on Saturday against Islam Makhachev.

Ahead of the bout, Garry was asked if he cares about the lack of fan support, which he shot down quickly.

“I couldn't care less,†Garry said to Spinning Backfist MMA Show on Barstool. “Ahead of my fight with Belal Muhammad in Qatar, I walked out to boos. Go back and listen to the audio 30 seconds into the fight. ‘Let's go, Garry! Let's go!' This sport is a pantomime. I couldn't care less what people think of me. What I care about is becoming the champion of the world and proving that I was right.

‘That's all that matters to me'

“That's the dream I had as a 16-year-old growing up in Dublin, Ireland. I will fulfill that dream. What anyone else thinks about me, it's irrelevant. My little boy is going to be front row when I win that belt. I couldn't care what anyone else on this planet has to say about me or thinks about me, I want to see his smile, I want to see him and my wife. I want to give him the biggest cuddle I possibly can, and say, ‘Daddy did it!' That's all that matters to me.â€

As Garry says, all he cares about is what his family thinks about him, and not what fans think of him. He just wants his fighting to do all the talking. And, that will show on Saturday when he faces Makhachev for the welterweight title.

Garry enters UFC 330 as the underdog and is coming off a decision win over Belal Muhammad.

Do you think Ian Machado Garry will beat Islam Makhachev at UFC 330?

16-0 Farid Basharat confirms UFC exit after seven straight wins

16-0 Farid Basharat confirms UFC exit after seven straight wins
Farid
Basharat has addressed his departure from the
Ultimate Fighting Championship in a statement on social
media.

Basharat (16-0) completed his contract with a victory over John Garza
in July and wasn't offered a new deal despite going unbeaten in the
promotion. In his statement, Basharat reflected on his UFC tenure
and questioned the organization's direction.

Farid Basharat says the UFC never offered a new contract after
his unbeaten seven-fight run

Basharat went 7-0 in the UFC after earning a contract on
Dana White's Contender Series, with six of those victories
coming by decision. He confirmed his departure on Instagram, saying
he competed under unfavorable circumstances and never declined a
fight.

“The news is confirmed, I am no longer with the UFC,†Basharat
wrote on Instagram. “I've had an incredibly successful time in the
organization. I'm proud and happy with what I've accomplished
inside the Octagon. I leave with a stainless record. Holding the
longest active win streak in my weight division and the fourth
longest in the entire UFC. I feel I'm the best bantamweight in the
world. I always turned up and fought regardless of injuries and
weight deficits. And I always asked for the toughest opponent to
get me closer to the title.â€

While grateful for his time with the promotion and its staff,
Basharat questioned the UFC's direction and said he had not
received a contract offer since his last bout.

“But my departure clearly has nothing to do with my fighting
capabilities,†Basharat added. “Unfortunately, the organization
just isn't what it used to be. They're heading in a different
direction from what we all grew up loving. I want to clarify that
since my last fight, I was never offered a contract or an opponent;
I waited, but it never came. I've certainly never declined a fight
during my whole tenure.â€
