Hamzah Sheeraz has achieved a remarkable moment in his career. There are two world titles available to him at the same weight at the same time, and neither path has been chosen yet.

As of January 7, 2026, Sheeraz has two separate super middleweight orders. The WBC targeted him for a vacant title fight against Christian Mbilli after Terence Crawford’s retirement. The WBO also ordered Sheeraz to fight Diego Pacheco for his vacant belt.

Publicly, 26-year-old Sheeraz is not in favor of either option. Privately, the industry believes the WBO route is gaining popularity. Riyadh Season is believed to be interested in fighting Sheeraz in the spring, and Pacheco is seen as a more ad-suit for that setting.

However, the risks in boxing are not equal.

Mbilli represents a more complex physical test. He is a pressure fighter with high efficiency and a willingness to work internally. That style remains an open question for Sheeraz following his February draw with Carlos Adames, a fight many observers believe has slipped under constant pressure.

Pacheco, although less ruthless, presents a different complication. At 6-foot-4, he removes one of Sheeraz’s long-standing advantages. Sheeraz was able to dictate the reach of most opponents at 160 and even 168. That comfort disappears against someone who matches his height and reach.

What makes this moment noteworthy is not only the opponent’s choice, but also what that choice signals. One path leads towards risk management. The second leans towards validation. Delaying the decision only exacerbates this contrast, and ultimately Sheeraz will have to show whose side he is on.

Time will also play a role. Sanctioning authorities will not allow both orders to be suspended indefinitely and pressure from promoters is expected to raise rapidly.

Radivoje Kalajdzic improved to 31-3 with a unanimous decision over Craig Richards, who dropped to 20-5-1 after a good ten-round scrap. Both men had their moments and hurt each other at times before “Hot Rod” got the verdict on the scorecards, which included knocking Richards down for the first time in his career.
