The fight did not match the noise, but Paul Gallen gained the right to praise in boxing over his aged rival in the Sonny Bill Williams rugby league, winning the controversial decision to divide points in his very shaky clash with Sydney.
Two judges were won by 77-74 and 76-75 in favor of Gallen, while the third Fresh Zelander Williams won 77-74 in Wednesday’s relatively tame romance at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.
After all malicious and oral spikes landed in the previous decade, the fight simply did not reach height when both men worked on their conventional strengths.
Former Australian and Origin Gallen (15-3-1, 8 KO) tried to exert pressure from the very beginning, while Williams, who is 12 centimeters higher, used his stab and movement.
The 39-year-old Dual Rugby Code International Williams tried to thwart Gallen’s accusations by holding and joining, and was taken away by Judge Les Fear in the seventh round.
Williams was not an interview in the ring after the fight and refused to participate in the media conference after the fight.
“I definitely lost one round, I think the second round and it was one more close and got a point, so he wins to hell (on the card of one judge)?” Gallen said.
“I have a win. That’s all that counts and will be there forever.
“I am 44 years aged in less than a month.
“Sonny just came to me and said that he wanted to have coffee to man and I am for it.
“I finished the fight, I get my life.
“I’m not going to enjoy, a lot of time has passed. I did the work and all that counts,” added Gallen, while revealing that he went down with Covid two weeks before the fight.
Based on Undercarded around the world, Victorian Kris Terzievski approached the title of Master Most Mass, maintaining its two regional titles with detention of the sixth Fresh Zealand Round of Troy Pilcher from Gold Coast.
Terzievski (14-1-2, 11 KO) postponed Pilcher (10-2-1, 8 Kos) with the fifth body, and fear the judge stopped fighting after two consecutive knocks in the sixth.
Earlier, two sons of celebrated fathers won a quick win on the card.
Together with his father and former world champion, Antony Mundine in his corner, 25-year-old Super Middle Wweight Rahim Mundine (2-0, 1 KO) detained his opponent Fiji Joe Vatusaqata (1-5-1, 1 KO) in the second round.
Weight weight Alex Leepai Jr, improved to 5-0-1 (4 KO), with the first round of having Herve Silu Mata 3-4 (2 KO)
Leapa’s father, also named Alex, unsuccessfully questioned the former world champion of IBF, IBO and WBO WAIMAGHT WALADIMIR Klitschko in 2014.
The next winner on Undercard was Fresh Zelander David Nyika, who returned from his defeat to the master IBF Cruiser Wweight Jai Opetsaia with the arrest of the fifth round of Kiwi Nik Charalympous.
