Frank Warren says Daniel Dubois is Hall of Fame worthy

“If AJ did it, they certainly should put Daniel Dubois in there now that he’s beaten him,” Warren said on talkSport Boxing.

The comment immediately raises an uncomfortable question about Joshua’s biography. Joshua’s status in the Hall of Fame is often tied as much to his commercial and nightly success as it is to the depth of his resume.

Meanwhile, Dubois now has stoppage wins over Joshua, Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Fabio Wardley during his recent rebuild. That makes Warren’s comparison harder to dismiss than it might have seemed a year ago.

Joshua’s career was commercially huge and historically essential for British boxing, but the actual list of elite victories has long divided fans. His biggest victory remains the victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2017, who was 41 years ancient and had a long break after a defeat to Tyson Fury.

Joshua also has wins over Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin, Dillian Whyte and Andy Ruiz Jr. in their rematch, but critics question how many of those victories came over opponents in their best form. Parker fought Joshua in a much-criticized tactical fight many years before becoming the more aggressive version seen today, while Povetkin was nearing the end of his career.

Even a rematch with Ruiz remains up for debate, as Ruiz entered the second fight noticeably heavier after months of partying and celebrity attention following his upset victory in Up-to-date York.

That’s why comparing Warren to the Hall of Famer may say as much about the newfangled heavyweight era as it does about Dubois himself.

Dubois has suffered defeats to Joe Joyce and Usyk, but has also had stoppage wins over Joshua and Wardley and has quickly rebuilt his position after being written off by many.

If Joshua’s resume is deemed sufficient for possible Hall of Fame recognition, some fans will argue that the standard itself may not be particularly high in this generation of heavyweights.

Simon Jordan Confronts Rick Reeno on Dana Whites Leadership in MMA

Simon Jordan Confronts Rick Reeno on Dana White's Leadership in MMA

Simon Jordan dismissed Rick Reeno’s praise of Dana White as the king of combat sports promoters, insisting that the UFC boss’s corporate profits mean little to the athletes risking their health in the ring.

The disagreement exposed two different measures of success: building a lucrative promotion and ensuring the fighters receive a fair share of what they generate.

Reeno, The Ring’s chief executive, chose White over Eddie Hearn when asked who belonged at the top of the promotional business. He pointed to the UFC’s growth and the strength of a brand that, for many viewers, has become interchangeable with MMA itself.

Jordan accepted White’s achievements in that sport but rejected the comparison within boxing.

“If we’re talking about in the boxing world, Eddie Hearn is light years above Dana White in the boxing world,” Jordan told talkSPORT. “Whatever you say about Hearn, and I have lots to say about him, he will pay his fighters. He will pay his fighters fairly. And he will pay them promptly.”

Evaluating Dana White’s boxing venture requires looking past his promotional hype. A promoter can draw massive crowds while quietly shortchanging the talent in the ring.

Reeno countered that every promoter wants to make money. He also argued that some MMA fighters were earning $50 fighting in bars before the UFC created greater opportunities.

That defense explains the value of building a market. It leaves Jordan’s question about compensation unanswered. What fighters earned before a business became successful does not settle what they should receive once it secures major commercial deals.

Jordan’s argument carries flaws as well. Eddie Hearn holds decades of boxing experience, yet that background does not automatically guarantee he will outmaneuver White moving forward.

Reeno highlighted White’s ability to tap directly into UFC and WWE audiences to build a Tyson Fury versus Anthony Joshua fight. That crossover audience provides massive leverage.

The real issue centers on how much money actually trickles down to the fighters. Reeno argued that Dana White knows how to expand commercial revenue better than anyone else. Jordan questioned if revenue growth by itself justifies giving him top billing.

Derek Chisora Slams Dana White Regarding Fighter Treatment Issues

Derek Chisora Slams Dana White Regarding Fighter Treatment Issues

Derek Chisora accused Dana White of operating like a “slave owner,” but Conor Benn’s lucrative move to Zuffa Boxing offers a substantial counterpoint to the heavyweight’s attack.

Chisora’s complaint centered on White turning fighters away from his platform. That hardly explains the comparison, especially with Benn reportedly collecting $15 million for his first Zuffa appearance alone.

“Dana White is not my cup of tea, to be honest with you,” Chisora said in an interview with Fight Hub TV following the Tyson Fury–Anthony Joshua press conference. “Because the way he operates is just, he operates like a slave owner, man. You know, fighters want to fight on his platform. He tells them, ‘You’re not good enough for me, so go away.’ What is a fighter going to do? What is he going to do after that? That’s not right.”

Benn’s experience makes that accusation difficult to defend. His reported $15 million purse for facing Regis Prograis was followed by a world-title opportunity against Ryan Garcia. White’s platform has delivered both substantial money and a major fight for the British welterweight.

One boxer’s earnings cannot answer every question about a promoter’s treatment of fighters. But Chisora supplied no named example to support his accusation. Benn gives readers something concrete to weigh against it.

Chisora also argued that a fighter who performs poorly one night can improve the next time. Fair enough. Promoters still have to decide whom to sign, how many places they can offer, and which fights they want to stage. Wanting a contract does not create an entitlement to one.

His example concerns access to White’s platform, rather than restrictions imposed on someone already fighting there. Those are different issues, and Chisora never explained how rejection justified his language.

Asked about the dispute between Eddie Hearn and White, Chisora made his personal dislike clear. What he failed to provide was an argument strong enough to carry such a loaded accusation.

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury: Live London Press Conference Showdown

"Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury: Live London Press Conference Showdown"

The long-awaited, all-British heavyweight blockbuster between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is officially set for December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Backed by Saudi powerbroker Turki Alalshikh, the defining clash will see both men pocket a career-high purse and settle the debate – to a degree – of this generation’s best UK heavyweight.

After more than a decade of false starts and fractured negotiations, the two former heavyweight champions will finally settle their rivalry in what promises to be the biggest commercial event in British boxing history. Broadcast rights have been secured by Netflix for a global audience and Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao may appear on the undercard, despite turning 49 one week after the event.

Crucially, Joshua’s camp held firm during negotiations to ensure the bout remained on domestic soil. Despite the potential for more lucrative offers overseas, ‘AJ’ refused to budge on the location, and the pair meet today in London to make it official.

Fans can watch live via the stream below, with the proceedings expected to kick off at 6 PM – though delays and gamesmanship may be a factor.
