By Graham Ilford: Brian Norman Jr.’s dad, Brian Sr., says Devin Haney is “cooked food” during their Nov. 22 fight in Riyad. He recalls that the brave speech Devin (32-0, 16 KO) gave sounded like he was standing on his hind legs and saying: “Judgment Day Is Coming” in a clash with WBO welterweight champion Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs)
Haney Jr. he seems really confident heading into the match at the ANB Arena in Riyad, Saudi Arabia. On May 2, 2025, he will have a great victory over Jose Ramirez. This victory confirms his belief that he will defeat Norman Jr. and show him that there are “levels” in the game.
Cooked Food Warning from Brian Sr.
– He cooked food after that anyway. He’s going to get beat up like hell,” Brian Norman Sr. said MillCity Boxing about what will happen to Devin Haney when he fights WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. on November 22, 2025 in 20 days. “He was talking really raucous.
“He talked like he was going to make a move. He talked like he was really going to be dynamic. I looked at his sparring partners. I even looked at Troy [Isley]” said Norman Sr., talking about how Haney sounded during an interview on the Ariel Helwani show as if he was going to fight Brian Jr. aggressively.
Massive payday in Riyad, bigger expectations
Considering Turki Alalshikh is making millions on his season card in Riyad, he should fight Norman Jr with confidence. It would be bad for Haney to put in a performance like he did against Jose Ramirez earlier this year on May 2 in Times Square in Novel York.
“We have Elijah Flores who said, ‘He’s one of the best he’s ever worked with,’ and Devin wasn’t. We even have Troy who says, ‘Devin doesn’t hit like that. He’s smaller,'” Norman Sr. said.
That doesn’t require Haney’s recent sparring partner, Elijah Flores, to say he has no power. Everyone can see that Devin has no pop in his punches. Therefore, he is forced to hold and move often to avoid being beaten.
When Haney deviated from his typically cautious fighting style in his fight against Ryan Garcia on April 20, 2024, it was disastrous for him. He was dropped three times and injured multiple times in rounds 1, 7, 10 and 11.
There’s no mystery what Haney’s game plan will be against Norman Jr. November 22. He will stab, move, hold and throw single punches. If this doesn’t work for Haney, he will be knocked out.
