Details of Moses Itauma’s long-awaited return to the ring have finally been revealed.

While Oleksandr Usyk may be the current heavyweight king, Itauma is seen as the future of the division as he has won all 14 of his professional fights, 12 of which ended by knockout.

After gaining notoriety with victories over the likes of Dillian Whyte, Demsey McKean and Mariusz Wach, in March he scored the biggest victory of his career when he defeated Jermaine Franklin over five rounds at Co-Op Live in Manchester.

Following this victory, attention quickly turned to who the 21-year-old would have to face next to continue his journey to becoming a world champion in the near future.

It had long been rumored that the opponent was Filip Hrgovic, and indeed it turned out to be the case Sky Sports reported that he will actually face the Croatian, and the fight is to take place on August 29 at the O2 Arena in London.

Hrgovic has won 20 of his 21 professional fights, with the only blemish being a loss to Daniel Dubois in June 2024.

Since that defeat he has beaten a trio of Brits, scoring points over Joe Joyce and David Adeleye, before beating Dave Allen in the third round at the Eco-Power Stadium in Doncaster in May.

This has now led to a showdown with Itauma, with Allen himself revealing his predictions for the competition after getting a feel for what it’s like to share the ring with ‘El Animal’.

“People could have said, ‘Oh, Floyd broke and Floyd broke it.’ Gosh, even if let’s say Floyd broke by accident,” Shakur said on Andre Ward’s Art of War podcast. “Floyd ain’t broke like everybody else, bro. Floyd broke is a different kind of broke,” Shakur said on Andre Ward’s channel.

“Floyd is broke and still very wealthy at the end of the day.

“I sat on the phone with Floyd for hours and while we were talking, I just realized that this guy just fell in love with boxing,” Shakur said. “He is obsessed with boxing.

“He probably can’t just hang up the gloves. He can’t let go. He never really has.”

Shakur also expressed surprise at how great Mayweather still looks in training even though he is approaching 50 years venerable.

“Floyd in great shape is better than a lot of guys in great shape,” Shakur said. “He just knows so much, he’s been on too many gigantic stages.”

Mayweather, 49, has continued to compete in exhibition fights since retiring from professional boxing in 2017 with a record of 50-0.

Mayweather will face former kickboxing champion Mike Zambidis in an exhibition fight on June 27 in Athens, Greece.

“Floyd Mayweather scares me,” Shakur said. “When I talk to him, he reminds me of me.

“I love boxing to death. I will never leave boxing. I will always be in or around this sport. But I’m not trying to box. No. Fighting at 40 is a terrible job.”

Tyson Fury is set to return to action in August as he prepares to face Anthony Joshua, but has ruled out one potential opponent after negotiations failed.

Fury retired in April when at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium he defeated Russian Arslanbek Makhmudovbefore calling for a long-awaited match with “AJ” in the aftermath.

Joshua has signed a contract, but will first have a warm-up fight to shake off the ring rust and build a relationship with up-to-date trainer Iegor Golub.

He will face Albanian Kristian Prenga next month, while Fury is expected to retire in August, with former unified heavyweight champion and Joshua conqueror Andy Ruiz Jr among the names being mentioned.

However, in an interview with iFL TelevisionFury revealed that Ruiz “overestimated” the opportunity.

“All these rumors about Andy Ruiz, I can clear it up. Andy Ruiz was contacted for a warm-up fight because that’s all he is, little, fat, booty, dosser. Even though he knocked out a bodybuilder [Joshua]he wouldn’t come near me. I’d punch him right in the head.

“But they asked for ridiculous numbers – numbers they can’t generate. It’s not a stadium show, it’s initially a ‘get on with it’ fight, back in the ring, action-packed work.”

“Andy Ruiz has priced himself out, as have several others, but we are still looking for an opponent.”

Ruiz has been out of the ring since his controversial draw with Jarrell Miller in 2024. He has been teasing a return to the ring for years, but nothing has happened and many believe he missed the high point that was his notable “AJ” victory in 2019.

With Fury’s proposed August deadline speedy approaching, a final decision on his opponent is expected soon.
