David Benavidez to defend the title of WBC vs. Anthony Yarde in November

David Benavidez is aimed at the first defense of his heavyweight WBC title against Anthony Yarde in November, said Turki Alalshikh, chairman of General Entertainment Authority and president of the Saudi boxing federation on Thursday.

The date and location of the fight that will determine the debut of the Riyadh Benavidez season have not been established.

28 -year -old Benavidez wanted to fight the undisputed super medium -sized champion in medium weight Canelo Alvarez. However, when Alvarez is showing little interest, Benavidez (30-0, 24 KO) moved to the lightweight heavyweight department.

Benavidez won the decision in his debut in the weight class in June 2024 due to Oleksandr Gvozdyk for the empty title of WBC Airy Heavywyght. Benavidez defeated David Morrell for his first successful defense of the transient title in February.

Benavidez was raised to the full master when the then champion Dmitry Bivol fought Artur Beterbaiew for the third time, instead of fulfilling the WBC request to defend the championship before this title owner.

Yarde (27-3, 24 KO) will make its third attempt to win the title of the world. Fighting from London, Yarde began his 18-0 career, after which he suffered his first defeat with Sergey Kovalev in 2019, when he challenged WBO Airy Heavyweight Title. Yarde did not have the second attempt of the gold championship when he was knocked out by Beterbaview during the meeting in January 2023 for the titles of WBC, IBF and WBO.

During the last trip, Yarde won the decision about Lyndon Arthur based on the Chris Eubank Jr. card. vs. Conor Benn in April.

Radivoje Kalajdzic improved to 31-3 with a unanimous decision over Craig Richards, who dropped to 20-5-1 after a good ten-round scrap. Both men had their moments and hurt each other at times before “Hot Rod” got the verdict on the scorecards, which included knocking Richards down for the first time in his career.
