David Benavidez is not waiting for anyone. The “Mexican monster” has plans that include defeating Canelo Álvarez and the fight against Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez for a unified crown of Cruiser.
The WBC champion in airy heavyweight made a decision only 24 hours after World Boxing News reported that Canelo would consider a general -e -mail clash with Ramirez.
Novel ambition
In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Benavidez presented his closest plans with brutal brightness, initially referring to the topic of fighting with Terenka Crawford in his former weight of 168 pounds.
“To be forthright, my plan is that after this fight I do not want to go down to 168 pounds. Honestly, I am enough of a super medium weight,” explained “The Mexican Monster”.
“However, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Crawford. He gave a hellish performance. He is there on Mount Rushmore as one of the greatest players of all time. Let Crawford do his job. Ultimately, I am not interested in fighting Crawford. I am not interested in going down to 168 pounds. I mean, it would be nice to get all the titles, but I would not go far from this. For Canelo and I’m just forthright with you.
“Let Crawford do his job. I want to give him flowers; he is a great player. There is no other player who entered from 147 pounds to beat a player like Canelo in 168. Crawford is one of the best in history. I am not interested in going down to 168. I do not say that I am afraid of Crawford. But Crawford is a man in weight 168, this is his weight.
Why the fight against Canelo did not take place
Benavidez did not hide his frustration that he was not in the past with Canelo.
“In a sense I felt that it could be me,” he said. “It was my moment. If I got there, I know that I would beat him. That’s why it didn’t happen because Canelo knows that it would happen.”
Benavideza’s main plan: Bivol, Beterbiev and 200 pounds
However, do not expect Benavidez to ponder venerable matters. He focuses on a path that can lead him straight to the top of the whole sport, explaining that his plan goes beyond the 168 pounds.
The work begins on November 22 in Saudi Arabia under the guidance of the former chapter to the title of world champion Anthony Yarde.
“I am now in such a good situation that it could happen in a weight of 175 pounds,” he added. “I don’t focus on Canelo. I have my own affairs. But it can be a way for this fight to come to fruition. I don’t really worry about it. I only think about the players I have to eliminate. And imagine that I go there and do everything I say. I go there and overcome Yarde, then I go to fight Bivol or Beterbiev and I am going to fight these two players – the fight with Canelo 100 times greater than it was then. “
Conclusion: I’m not waiting for Álvarez
Benavidez’s message is clamorous and clear: he doesn’t wait for Canelo to spotless his way. He arrives for titles and wants to confirm his rights to fight in a super medium weight before anyone else does it.
Remembering Ramirez more than once in the last 24 hours can be worried by Canelo, who seems to have only one option to create more stories before retiring.
