Boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. arrested by ice, to deport

Los Angeles – the notable Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez Jr. He was arrested for illegally entering the USA and will be deported to Mexico, where he faces organized allegations of crime, Federal officials said on Thursday.

The arrest appears only a few days after the former middleweight champion fought on Saturday with Jake Paul in Anaheim, California.

The 39-year-old boxer was picked up by a enormous number of federal agents when he was going to the scooter in front of his house at the City Studio, according to prosecutor Chávez Michael Goldstein.

“The current allegations are outrageous and simply another headline of the community terrorization,” said Goldstein.

Goldstein did not know where Chávez was detained since Thursday in the morning, but said that they were on Monday in court related to the allegations of having weapons from last year and should provide an update of his progress in the substance abuse.

The Internal Security Department said that immigration and customs officers detained Chávez for exceeding the tourist visa, which expired in February 2024 after entering the country in August 2023.

The agency said that civil and immigration services marked ice about Chávez, saying that “it is a glaring threat to public security,” and yet he received back to the country on January 4.

Officials said that he has an energetic arrest order in Mexico for participating in organized crime and trade in firearms, ammunition and explosives and it is believed that he is a partner of the Sinaloa cartel. The Associated Press contacted the office of the Mexico prosecutor general regarding the allegations, but the office has not yet answered.

Trump’s administration said that Chávez applied for a green card on April 2, 2024, based on his marriage with a US citizen, Frida Muñoz, a former partner of Edgar Guzmán López, the currently recognized son of the imprisoned Sinaloa Kingpin Cartel Joaquin “El Chapo”.

The agency said that Chávez made many false statements regarding his application, which led to his arrest.

Chávez fought only once from 2021 before his fight with Paul on Saturday, consisting of countless minimals during a long boxing career led in the shadow of his father, one of the most beloved athletes in Mexican history. The son did not pass the drug tests, served suspensions and abnormally did not hit the weight, being widely criticized for his sporadic sacrifice for this sport.
