Jaron Ennis vs Uisma Lima – results and post-fight report
On Saturday in Philadelphia, Jaron Ennis defeated Uisma Lima in the first round to win the interim WBA super welterweight world title.
Ennis (35-0, 31 KO), who entered the fight as a hefty favorite, dropped Lima (14-2, 10 KO) three times before referee Shawn Clark intervened and Ennis stopped his opponent’s punches at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.
“Boots” made his super welterweight debut after relinquishing his IBF and WBA welterweight crowns. Victory over Eimantas Stanionis in April.
The 28-year-old Philadelphia native quickly turned southpaw after starting out as an Orthodox, and the impact was almost immediate.
A three-punch combination ending with a right hook knocked Lima down by the seat of his pants.

The 32-year-old, who had never been stopped before, quickly got up but another attack knocked him to the ground for a second time.
Sensing the early end of the match, “Boots” attacked his tired opponent, and the further attack forced the intervention of the referee, who also threw in the towel after Lima’s corner kick.
Ennis, who was lining up to fight WBA champion Abass Baraou, called for a fight with WBC interim champion Vergil Ortiz Jr, who will face Erickson Lubin on November 8 in Dallas.
“I sent an critical message,” he said DAZN.
“You all know who I want next.
“It will happen next.
“If he doesn’t win, I will fight Lubin, but next time I want Vergil Ortiz.”
If the clash with Ortiz Jr does not materialize, Ennis said he would be willing to face super welterweight world champions Sebastian Fundora, Bakhram Murtazaliev and Xander Zayas, as well as former champion Jermell Charlo.
“If we don’t get Ortiz next, I heard Charlo called me too,” he added.
“He might get it next.
“Fundora, Bakhram [Murtazaliev]IBF champion, he can get it.
“Xander [Zayas] can get it.
“Anybody at 154. I’m chasing the belt. This is my division.”
Vianello attacks Barriere
Guido Vianello breathed up-to-date life into his career by stopping Alexis Barriere in the fifth round of their heavyweight clash.
Vianello (14-3-1, 12 KO) dropped the previously undefeated Canadian in the fourth round after a powerful attack, and Barriere (12-1, 10 KO) was saved by the bell.

Vianello attacked his opponent in the fifth round, knocking him down with a right hand, and the 30-year-old southerner was unable to beat the referee’s count.
The Italian secured the vacant WBC title in continental America with the victory.
Smalls dismisses Roman
Tahmir Smalls extended his perfect professional record by scoring a knockdown en route to a unanimous decision victory over Jose Roman Vazquez.
Smalls (16-0, 11 KO) was one step away from an early victory after defeating Roman (14-2, 6 KO) with a left hook in the third round, but the Puerto Rican gathered his strength and took the fight from a distance.
Smalls secured the WBA Continental North American welterweight title with scores of 98-91, 96-93 and 95-94.

Thompson deals with Diaz
Super bantamweight prospect Dennis Thompson defeated Sean Diaz after a fascinating six rounds.
Thompson (8-0, 5 KO) defeated the winner via split decision with two scores of 60-53 and 57-56, overturning the 56-57 score in favor of Diaz (9-1, 2 KO).

Undercard remaining
Super featherweight prospect Zaquin Moses (5-0, 3 KO) continued his education with a dominant performance against Antonio Dunton El Jr (6-5-2, 2 KO).
British lightweight prospect Giorgio Visioli (9-0, 6 KO) was victorious in his US debut, defeating James Wilkins (13-4).
Naheem Parker (6-3, 2 KO) ended a three-fight losing streak by scoring points over previously undefeated Justin Palmieri (5-1, 3 KO) in a lightweight fight.
Harley Mederos (9-0, 8 KO) opened the fight and Hylon Williams (16-6-1, 3 KO) forced Hylon Williams (16-6-1, 3 KO) to retire from a corner kick before the start of the second round after three knockdowns in the first round.
Eddie Hearn did not contact Deontay Wilder about fighting Anthony Joshua after signing a contract to fight Tyson Fury, his manager Shelly Finkel claims.
There has been speculation that Joshua could return against Wilder before he faces Fury.
Instead, the 36-year-old will return to the ring on July 25 against Kristian Prengi, before facing Fury in November.
Wilder called out longtime rival “AJ” after his victory over Derek Chisora earlier this month.
The pair have been linked to a clash since both men held world heavyweight titles in 2018, and Finkel believes Joshua had no interest in fighting the “Bronze Bomber.”
“You can’t be disappointed with something that never happened,” Finkel said Heavenly sports.
“Eddie never contacted us and Joshua obviously had no intention of fighting Deontay Wilder.
“Same antique story, just modern date.”
Joshua and Wilder were scheduled to fight in March 2024, but the American was defeated by Joseph Parker in December 2023.
“AJ” will fight for the first time since he knocked out Jake Paul in the sixth round in December.
Ten days later, the two-time world heavyweight champion was involved in a tragic car accident that killed two of his close friends and left him with minor injuries.
Saudi Arabian boxing boss Turki Alalshikh announced that Joshua and Fury have signed a contract for their mega fight in a post on the website X on Monday, which read: “To my friends in the UK – it’s happening. This is signed.

Moments later, Joshua’s return was announced against unknown Albanian Prengi.
“It’s no secret that I’ve taken some time to consolidate and rebuild to be ready to get back into the ring, and today is the next step in that journey,” Joshua said.
“I am delighted to have agreed to a multi-fight contract starting on July 25 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“I’m looking forward to competing and continuing where I left off.
“Like I said. The landlord will collect rent. That’s for sure.”
Fury defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov on points in his return to the ring following his retirement earlier this year.
“The Gypsy King” called “AJ”, who was watching the gala from the side of the ring, and declared that he would retire again if the fight with his rival did not take place.
However, his manager Spencer Brown revealed that he may fight again ahead of his fight with Joshua.

Naoya Inoue is the hefty favorite to defeat Junto Nakatani in an undisputed title clash on Saturday.
Inoue defends all four of his super bantamweight world titles in a huge all-Japan fight against Nakatani at the Tokyo Dome, live on DAZN.
Inoue, a top-three top-ranked pound-for-pound leader, is a 1/4 favorite Bet365 emerge victorious and inflict his first professional defeat on his rival.
“The Monster” has stopped 27 of his 32 opponents and is expected to stop Nakatani 11/10.
The undefeated 33-year-old has gone the distance in his last two outings and is valued at 7/4 for a third straight decision win.
Nakatani is also a star fighting for world champion titles in the fourth weight category.
The 28-year-old southpap is a 3/1 underdog to cause a seismic shock.
“Substantial Bang” has won five of his last six fights at the distance, and he sees his best chance of winning after a stoppage at 6/1.
Nakatani defeated Sebastian Hernandez Reyes on points from Inoue’s undercard defeated Alan David Picasso in Saudi Arabia in December, and a decision victory is valued at 10/1.
